There’s A Little Bit Of Assassin’s Creed In Final Fantasy XIII-2

By Spencer . November 28, 2011 . 10:19pm

Ezio Auditore is in demand. Namco Bandai booked the Assassin’s Creed Revelations lead as a guest character for Soulcalibur V. No, Ezio won’t be a guest character in Final Fantasy XIII-2, but his costume is in Square Enix’s game. Players can dress Noel Kriess in Ezio’s hoodie.

The Assassin’s Creed outfit is an optional item and will be available as downloadable content. While this is the first Ubisoft crossover for the Final Fantasy universe, the two companies have a history of working together. Ubisoft published Star Ocean: Till the End of Time in Europe and licensed Drakengard 2 for the West.

Talk about random as hell news.

    • aoihana

Random news would be reports of increased wind speeds in Russia, but how is this random news? (*^ワ^*)

Anyway, this is awesome news, but I’d rather see Noel’s pretty face, so I’ll be skipping on this DLC! (◕‿◕✿)

      • godmars

Unless Noel can sneak up and kill monsters with one hit wearing this outfit, its random

      • chicken_and_rofls

        It’s relevant news… but it’s still random.

        • aoihana

The costume may be random, but like you said, it’s relevant news, which was my point. (◕‿◕✿)

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

Beauty is more alluring when left to one’s imagination.

        • aoihana

I guess that holds some truth, but I like my bishies where I can see them! (◕‿◕✿)

      • http://twitter.com/shiro_shishi Brennan

It’s random because WHO THE HELL would think Noel would get a DLC outfit of EZIO AUDITORE.

        I mean,…why?

  • ThatBlackGuy

i swear to all that is fried if they release a organization 13 coat somebody’s getting bent.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

At least the girls in this game aren’t the only ones with costumes. Other than the fact that Noel looks awesome in this costume, it actually fits for a character influenced by time and space.

    • imaguni

      Now that you point it out, you’re right… o_o;

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_S2UKKIGGOA4V5EIFXAD7BQQOV4 Heehee

It lacks the beard and the cape.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/Juddgment Judgment8

Noel looks too wimpy to wear Ezio’s clothes in the first place. This thing offends me as an Ezio fan…

    • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

Was never a fan of the beard

  • http://www.facebook.com/benjtan Benjamin Tan

    noel auditore da firenze

  • http://www.facebook.com/santd Daniel Sant

Somehow this outfit kind of fits the part for “last surviving dude on the planet”

Kind of a…”ground-breaking” collaboration.  I like both series, but eh, not sure how I feel about this.  I guess both games deal with time travel….?

  • heartless141

lol could be interesting, :P it just came outta no where, really.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000172099718 Dominic Hunter

Nice, this will give me something else cool to look at while I mash “X”

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1769064526 Vivian Mai

Huh…so is Noel going to be a sleepy hooded man now?

    *oowhite!*

    • sherimae1324

no, behind his hood is an ugly assassin ^_^

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1769064526 Vivian Mai

…I was referencing the literal trailer…

  • YoshTripleTails

Really does anyone care about Assassins Creed so much that Ezio is all over the place?

    • IceRomancer

I don’t get it either really. Assassins Creed games are alright, but not good enough to have so many cameos.

      • MrRobbyM

It has mainstream appeal and will definitely boost sales, at least by a little. Plus, I think people just like Ezio more than they do the AC games themselves. I know I do.

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

Two cameos in two Japanese games is not too many. lol Btw, it’s not just the AC games being good. The series became a multimedia so big that it’s becoming a legacy.

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MURDaCosP8o

That said, it’s really no wonder that publishers are using Ezio to help westernize foreign games. And who could blame them? Ezio being one of the more correct choices for SCV. Heck, Ezio’s costume works for FFXIII’s “sense of fashion.”

        • PrinceHeir

i always knew Assassin Creed series IS well known, well not really that big but a good portion of people know the franchise.

heck every Assassins Creed game has been dubbed in japanese(same with Uncharted)

probably one of the few western titles that are known in japan :P

      • Solomon_Kano

The quality isn’t really the deal here though. It’s popularity.

    • http://vanilladice.deviantart.com/ Dice

      Speaking for myself: Yes. :D
I dub this a good DLC!  …as good as DLC can be, regarding its paying for useless add-ons. =)

    • Hraesvelgr

Yes? The Assassin’s Creed games are popular, you know; one of the most popular new IPs this gen, in fact. Of course, I’ve never understood why Ezio in particular has been so popular, but apparently he is.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Farid-Belkacemi/1073052585 Farid Belkacemi

They really don’t know when to stop these days…

  • MrRobbyM

Add some manly scruff for Noel and SE has my money. Though, I wish it was in-game as the Raiden costume for Ezio was already in Brotherhood.

  • Andrew Austin

Is Assassin’s Creed really this popular?I remember there was a costume in MGS4 and that kind of made sense, but this is ridiculous.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jazzlyn.lim Jazlynn Lim

I’m pretty sure someone said somewhere on this site that the Japanese really love their Assassin’s Creed, which is why they made Ezio a guest character in Soul Calibur V in the first place.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Farid-Belkacemi/1073052585 Farid Belkacemi

It’s quite the opposite for Ezio in SC V, he’s in “just” for the western gamers.

Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing NB

“One of the key focuses of our business when I joined the company is how do we Westernize our portfolio and make it broader”

“We wanted to bring in a character that works in the Western world. When you look at where Ubisoft is, especially with Ezio, it brings us in the Western market and gets everyone excited about the game.”

        Source ? Siliconera ;)

    • sherimae1324

doyu imi desuka? assassin’s creed is popular here in japan MR. likewise the Final fantasy series in the WEST ^_^

    • Hraesvelgr

Personally, I think the costume makes more sense in something like Final Fantasy than Metal Gear Solid…

      • Solomon_Kano

I agree. Especially considering that Noel’s time traveling fits with how the AC series is about visiting different eras.

  • JustThisOne

I say, it’s not a bad choice at all. I’ve always thought the Assassin’s Creed uniform looked pretty well designed. It’s very sleek, yet practical looking. Maybe this’ll be a new fad in gaming costumes.

AC HOODS FOR EVERYONE! Sazh would like one to accommodate his stylish ‘fro, too, plz.

    • Solomon_Kano

      One for the Chocobo too!

  • Syltique

I’m down.  This could be a fun costume to run around in.  It’s a shame that this is all DLC though.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/GuiltyRaioh ShinkaRaioh

I approve with the deepest part of my soul! Though I demand that you can dress Serah with that too!

  • http://www.facebook.com/JaeWhy SasuleUchiha

Cool man , though I like Ezio’s white robe but this is awesome :D

  • Hinataharem

    FF13-2 has time related elements.

Assassin’s Creed has time related elements.

    Seems like a perfect match.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=512740433 Zubi Khan

does this give me a chance to get a preemptive strike more often lol

  • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

If only it would affect the cutscenes too. Noel looks cool no matter what outfit.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000301072427 Mark Shaver

The costumes do display in real time cutscenes, they said.

  • badmoogle

This is an experiment. If it sells well, then SE’s future step might be to outsource one of their next FF’s to a western pre-production studio.Expect lots of hoods, knives, beards and bald/macho types of characters.

    • Hraesvelgr

Way to horribly exaggerate some minor DLC. Besides, we’ve already got plenty of those character types in Final Fantasy as it is, so… and?

      • badmoogle

“Besides, we’ve already got plenty of those character types in Final Fantasy as it is”

Plenty? Not really.Yes we got a few that generally fit these types but i was mainly speaking about the western style of depicting those archetypes which i thought it was obvious.
Don’t you think that Japanese artists have their own style in costume and character design than the French for example?
Unless of course you believe that every country shares the same historical and cultural background and therefore the artists and the target groups they are trying to reach are one and the same.

And yes perhaps i’m exaggerating for now,but i do believe that lately SE is desperately trying to find ways to penetrate the western market more than they already have.Do you think that they would hesitate to westernize the art of their games if all signs tell them that they would sell more by doing that?We have already seen examples like these (Nier) although for now at least the FF franchise looks safe. The question is for how long?

  • Göran Isacson

… On the one hand, the costume IS cool. But it’s just so AGAINST how the rest of FFXIII’s design, with all their garish hippie colors and weird-ass accessories. It’s too muted to really gel with the rest of the world. I’ll be holding off until we see images of the costume in-game until I give my real opinion.

Although now I AM imagining Noel being the last Assassin, and the l’Cie somehow being involved with the Templars. Cross-overs, cross-overs EVERYWHERE!

  • PrinceHeir

    awesome :D

i think Ezio’s attire fits as a historical person which is good since this game is all about time traveling :P

maybe Noel had picked this up in a bunch Hay somewhere in Cocoon or someplace :P

on a sidenote it seems ubisoft has been ignoring Altair lately. then again Ezio’s outfit is much silkier and smooth than Altair so that’s a plus :P

  • http://twitter.com/alixraen alixraen

I miss when Final Fantasy was just Final Fantasy.

    • ShinGundam

More like I miss when FFXIII was just FFXIII.

      • Solomon_Kano

        I don’t.

    • MrRobbyM

You can replace “Final Fantasy” with just about any long running series today.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8wQURL-xG4&feature=related Kira

    Noel’s with Ezio costume Awsome

  • ShinGundam

Is it me or lately there are a lot news about crossovers/collaboration/cross-promoting than about new games. XD

    • http://www.youtube.com/B4ULoveShine Tim_at_where

      What’s next, Capcom, joining #SRW?

  • pothier.adrien

I hope Noel isn’t going to nod at the bird, or the game will end way faster than it is supposed to…

    • CrazyKnives

Pfff only Ezio can do that right heh

  • http://www.youtube.com/B4ULoveShine Tim_at_where

Aw, you forgot the PlayArts. >_< :p

Jokes aside, now this is how you make justified DLCs.

  • http://twitter.com/eliezer_santos Eliézer Santos

Next: Lightining with a Kratos Outfit.

  • SirRichard

Honestly, it probably would’ve been better on Lightning.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

I think an Elika costume from Prince of Persia 2008 would look better on Lightning.

      • Solomon_Kano

Ubi needs to make a sequel to that already.

      • 128bitigor

I think bikini costume would look even better on Lightning…

  • Angeru_Lito

This is …weird also is that Japanese developers began to play Assassins Creed just recently or what.

  • Rupee11

Wow, look at all those straps and buckles. Almost enough to make Nomura blush. Almost.

Still, great cross-over, it’d be nice if it sparks a bit more interest in the AC series in Japan.

  • Solomon_Kano

Sweet. What’s up with Japanese devs and Assassin’s Creed though? First MGS, then SC, now this?

    • CrazyKnives

Apparently AC is very popular in Japan.

      • Solomon_Kano

I figured, but… this popular? Man lol. I can’t think of another western series that’s seen as many crossovers. Which is kinda funny, since this is only its 3rd anyway.

        • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu

On some “occasions,” I kinda see how a western game is popular depending on the amount of doujin fanart there is. And boy, is there a LOT!

          • Solomon_Kano

Yes, that usually is a good tip. And there is a lot of AC fanart… hm, guess I shoulda caught on sooner lol.

        • CrazyKnives

Yeah I know what you mean. I love the AC series but man this is kinda….I don’t know. If this was about the time skipping aspect for both games then Noel would be wearing Desmond’s attire, not Ezio’s.

I was thinking Deus Ex: HR would’ve been an awesome costume collab. considering the game helped SE in sales recently and it’s a recent game SE released.

          • Solomon_Kano

Desmond would make more sense, but his attire just doesn’t have the same flair — and you can’t be a time-traveling, skirt-wearing sword-fighter like Noel without flair lol.

Seeing a HR costume would be pretty awesome, but I’m not sure how it’d look within the game. It’d be kinda funny. “Chocobos, Moogles, Tonberries, Terminator guy, Adamantoise… wait, what?”

  • Yu_TheKing

Loving the costume choice in a way, it should add some type of status boost or something.

  • SuigetsuHiramura

Step one in making Noel look more badass… I like it :)

  • http://openid.anonymity.com/5HuDuQyz Woot

Okay SE, you won me this time…Damn it all. How did you know that I LOVE Assassin’s Creed?

I’m so getting this DLC, damn it!

  • Souji Tendou

Noel doesn’t deserve this costume. The costume is too badass for a pretty boy like him. >_>
