First Look At Algol, Edge Master, And Tekken Producer In Soulcalibur V

Famitsu magazine revealed that Algol and Edgemaster would return in Soulcalibur V yesterday, and Famitsu has concept art for the two characters up now.

Soulcalibur V has a bit of Tekken in it too. Players can use the game’s character creation system to make Devil Jin style characters. As a surprise, Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada has been recreated as a Soulcalibur V fighter with Devil Jin’s style. You can fight him and fan created NPCs in the game’s quick match mode.

    Algol is kind of… disturbing me. Yeah…

    Speaking of Tekken, though, I’d like to see some of the Tekken characters outfit pieces available in the character creator. Or their hairstyles. I realize that Soulcalibur is set in the distant past, but I’d like some more modern-style clothing available, just so I can make anime characters and stuff.

      Me too! I would LOVE that so much! I want to have some modern-style clothing… in a way we can have our CaS be time-travelers from the future if we wanted too. They never said our created character have to be from the same era where SC takes place. ^_^

        And in games you spend so much time on the creation that you get immune to skin, not that naked Algol has any effect >___>

      Let’s just hope that his unique attribute in the game is that he cannot be armor broke. In exchange with con that he takes above average damage than the entire roster.

      Of course, another reason is because of how he dresses up in this game.

    Algol being back is cool, he’s the first true boss character to return in a sequel (which is set 17 years away from the previous game’s story took place)… but the little clothing. Yeah, they could’ve given him something akin to shorts even if he has the whole “ancient” look down.

    Edge Master, I believe he was also a boss character from a past game? I never got the chance to play the original Soul Edge game, only Soul Calibur and up with Soul Calibur 2 being the first SC game I started with and play (and fell in love with it, but it was Link that drew me to it for the Gamecube version as I only owned a Gamecube at that time).

    Devil Jin style, eh? Pretty cool to have a “fist” fighting style for our CaS and I know just who to use that style for one of my CaS. I wonder what the other original CaS fighting style will be? Too bad there isn’t more than 2 original movesets for them… maybe DLC? I would like the Wave Sword, Grieve Edge, Steel Fan, Lance, etc… fighting styles from SC3 to come back but re-balanced… it truly made our CaS unique and their own character.

    Katsuhiro Harada as a bonus character of sorts for SC5 is awesome! I can’t wait to fight him!

    And, please, Namco Bandai… add some modern-day style clothing! I like to put my ideal modern-day looking hero character in SC! I know you can do it! The business suits from 4 is proof of that! I’ll gladly buy them as DLC clothing!

      Technically Inferno still has the most returns as a boss character. He appears in Soul Edge/Blade as Soul Edge, a stronger version of Cervy with a couple of different moves. Then in Soul Calibur Inferno shows up as a ”mime” character. Sadly Inferno would stop being a playable boss in SCII (unless you had a gameshark or something). Then he came back in SCIII’s Arcade Edition as powered up Cervantes again.

      Plus in the new SCV famitsu article there seemed to be a pic that looked like Cervantes’ new alt costume but with Inferno inside? I guess it is for Legendary Souls mode maybe? Would be sweet to use him though :)

      As for Edgemaster he wasn’t a boss. He was a secret “Bonus” character from SCI and I am very glad he is back :)

    Looking at Algol there, I do not comprehend the need to strip him when SCIV quite nicely told us he’d been fine in the same outfit for centuries.

    Looking again, I also do believe I’m in dire need of an adult.

    I don’t know, I was never that interested in Algol and Edge Master is… cool, I guess, concept-wise? But character-wise there’s really not that much to him. I would’ve rather had new characters instead of these, to be frank.

    Of course, being able to play Harada IS a definitive bonus. I hope they have the clothes that let you create Ono as well, so that a TRUE epic battle can be had.

    I can’t wait to see some of the “fan made” characters that will appear in the game. I wonder if that means that there will be non-unique character souls to use during creation. I really want to assume that Harada’s appearance as a “Tekken soul” confirms that.
