Adventure Bar Story Makes You A RPG Tavern Owner

By Spencer . January 24, 2012 . 4:03pm

Oh, no! Adventure Bar Story begins when your sister’s bar is about to shutdown and the only way to save it is to become the most popular bar in town.

Good food is a staple of any top tier tavern and you need ingredients to cook a gourmet meal, right? In Adventure Bar Story you earn those by hunting monsters. Adventure Bar Story uses a turn based battle system, but you won’t be able to get cabbage by killing goblins. Players will need to manage a farm for produce and fish for seafood.

Adventure Bar Story Makes You A RPG Tavern Owner

Does Adventure Bar Story sound familiar? It should! Siliconera mentioned the original game, Adventure Bar of Wonderland Portable, which Rideon released for PSP last summer. Zigza Game is localizing the title and releasing Adventure Bar Story as an iOS download this February.

Thanks for the heads up, Touch Arcade!

The perfect combination of Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, and Recettear?

Sucks for me since I don’t have an iOS device. :

      • Draparde

me either v_v and i was actually thinking i’d get it too lol.

  • EvilRedEye

I don’t recall ever buying anything in a bar in a JRPG. Your sister’s gonna be out on the streets!

    • Crimson_Cloud

That’s because we always play as some teenager who isn’t allowed to drink.
I think you could actually buy milk in one game… -_-’

      • JustThisOne

It’s okay. Because Older-Guy-Who-Is-A-Lot-Cooler-Than-The-Main-Protagonist drinks, and will probably drink at some point in the game.

        • Crimson_Cloud

          Haha, indeed. ^^

Opening a bar in a RPG? I didn’t think anyone would come up with that concept. In fact, I don’t think any RPG had that.

      What about Tifa’s 7th Heaven?

  • Ryan Baer

Why Iphone? I don’t think thats the target demographic for niche japanese games

    • http://www.siliconera.com Jenni

You never know. The Kairosoft games are huge hits now on both iOS and the Android Market.

    • Go2hell66

I disagree, have you seen iphone’s game library? Obviously there is an audience for these type of games otherwise the development costs must just be insanely cheap

      • Testsubject909

I’m just surprised that there’s so much popping up for the iPhone though.

When you take in not too recent news on Apple’s somewhat draconian censorship spree a while back paired with the lower profit percentage they make off of each sale on the Apple store vs the Android market…

Well, that’s brand recognition for you. Don’t search the competitor, just build for what’s already known and don’t go looking into what could benefit you best.

        [edit]
Note most of my information comes from the earlier half of 2011 and certain events prior to that time. If things have changed since then, I’ve not seen information on it yet.

    • Gatchaman1

Quiet. iPhone needs more Japanese games…

  • http://www.siliconera.com Jenni

I’m so hoping for an Android port now. :D

    • Ryos

      You and me both.

  • Strain42

So is this the first time this game is coming out in English? I remember hearing about it on the PSN, but that was Japanese only, right? iOS does seem like an odd choice for english release, but that’s ok with me because I love all the great games I have on my iPod :D

  • ShadowWolf

so we are getting the iphone one………crap.

  • LunarKnite

Man, an iOS game? Bah. It sounds a lot like what Reccettear’s concept was which was amazing. Only wish I could try it out on a non-Apple product.

    • http://www.facebook.com/michael.kelehan Michael Kelehan

      So, it’s like Reccettear except…

    • shuratan

It sounds like Recettear with an infusion of Harvest Moon, and I totally dig that, though I would rather play it on another platform over a iOS system.

    • zigzagame

This game was originally a mobile title before going to the psp. Released in 2006 in Japan. Older than Reccettear.

  • Raiu

    I’ll get it once it’s released… :D

    NO! Why iOS!

    • Testsubject909

Not to mention that independent developers actually make less money on the Apple store then they do on the Android market in terms of the percentage of profit they make.

They really need to realize that if they build on it, the market will move with them and that on the Android market, people are just starving to put their money on some solid entertainment.

  • icecoffemix

The art kinda looks like Takeuchi’s…

  • OverlordZetta

For an iPhone game, this actually sounds… really, really cool. Pity that it’s, well, an iPhone game.

The title “Adventure Bar Story” is straight to the point, but it sounds ridiculous. I think “Adventure Bar Wonderland” is worse. I can’t stop laughing.

  • Setsu Oh

at last a new take on rpgs.

dang bro, you need to work on your sentences. I only understood “at last a new take on rpgs.” and “it seems interesting enough”

      • Setsu Oh

what if capcom now adds this to MoHun? servesell parts of what you hunted? nice!

  • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Sweet, another game in my arsenal of iOS game. :D

  • PersonaSpace

Damn. I was really hoping XSEED would be able to nab this one for the PSP. I do not own an iDevice and would rather buy an Android phone when I upgrade this May.
