Square Enix Cursed Game Comes To iPhone As A Haunted iPhone App

Square Enix Cursed Game Comes To iPhone As A Haunted iPhone AppJust like a trademark hinted in September, Square Enix is continuing the Nanashi no Game (Nameless Game) series. The next installment isn’t for Nintendo 3DS or Vita, it’s for iPhone.

Nanashi no App or Nameless App has a similar plot. Rumor is there’s a cursed smartphone game that kills players in seven days. Instead of avoiding it, you download it and creepy things start happening with your camera and mail apps. Nanashi no App has a mock smartphone interface players will use to solve the mystery and (hopefully) save their life.

In the game world you’ll play a 2D RPG and jump through punishing platforming levels where everything kills you. (Your character loses his head if he touches a flying blade in the DS version.) Nanashi no App also has a built in Twitter feature, which lets players read and tweet within the game.

Nanashi no App is available now (in Japanese only) for 800 yen ($10) on iTunes and is slated for an Android release in February.

    Looks like it’s that kind of game where you have to be cautious…

    The graphic style of this game reminded me of Final Fantasy V, except with blood and else gore thingies :P

    I can’t imagine how treacherous, punishing platforming on an iPhone will result in anything less than the destruction of said iPhone.

      Companies need to start realizing that touchscreen is NOT an ideal input for everything.

      The platform segments in the DS game are really short and simple enough. My concern would be the sensitivity of the touch of the jump button. Maybe if they let you tap where you want the character to land would help?

    On the other hand- the West getting Nanashi ANYTHING makes me jump for joy. But as ReevesSingleton said- platform jumping on an iPhone? I am… wary. Very, very wary.

    I thought FFXIV was their cursed game?

    That BGM of the retro game is really memorable.
    Looping in my mind.

    I wonder if S-E would consider at least releasing this outside Japan since it seems more feasible than releasing it on the DS..

      They will probably send it to focus groups again.
      T__T

    I’m still a little bummed about the original DS game being scrubbed because the focus group said that you can’t “shoot things.”

    …Yeah, that still hurts my mind everytime I read that. -.-;;
