15 Minutes Of Fire Emblem: Awakening Footage Highlights The Game’s Features

By Ishaan . April 28, 2012 . 4:31pm

Japanese site, 4Gamer, have put up a 15-minute play video of Fire Emblem: Awakening, including the intro movie shown a few weeks ago. It shows off a good look at battle animations, My Unit customization, the world map, Dual Tag, some amusing moments and more. Take a look at the entire video below:

  • I…. have to resist… watching the video!
I don’t wanna spoil too much. :) [Willstrength]
    It’s gonna be awesome!

    • Same! I want to watch, but I also don’t. ^_^

If there hadn’t been that domain name registered for it recently, I probably would watch, but now that there is a real chance of it being released in America, I’m going to try to not spoil too much. :D

    • I just kinda skimmed through it. I didn’t want to spoil myself either. I don’t think you’re missing out on much; the usual features, some new ones, possible death scenes and some possible supports. :3

The main cake of the video is probably the myunit thing, which I stuck around for.

  • That world map is sexy.

  • Kevin Salguero

For once in my life I’m actually excited about the create-your-own character.

    • Suicunesol

Actually, I’m worried you can’t change the character’s name. :S In every video I see, he/she is named Rufure.

      • kool_cid414

I think I saw someone make a custom character that looked like lightning and was named lightning so I think you can change names they just use Rufure as a default name I’m guessing.

      • Hraesvelgr

You can name the character anything you want (as long as it fits within the character limit).

  • Tom_Phoenix

Honestly, I’m liking a lot of things I’m seeing about this game. I’m especially pleasantly suprised at the level of customisation offered by the My Unit feature. It’s not something I usually expect from a Japanese game.

I just hope the game offers enough replay value to justify multiple playthroughs with different characters.

  • MrRobbyM

Everything screams production value, especially the music. It’s very reminiscent of FFXII.

This question may sound stupid, but is it possible to play this game in NDS?

This game looks awesome, but I sure don’t want to buy a 3DS just to play one game (in the case it’s going to be localized in US).

    • It is would be impossible to play this game on a regular DS.  Hopefully, there will be some other games for the 3DS that might interest you. That way you shall have more of a reason to get one.

      • Champ W

        Ah, thank you :)

    • shuratan

3DS games are only playable on 3DS, no such a thing as forwards compatibility unfortunately.

  • If Project X Zone will get localized(which is the reason why i will buy 3DS),this game is #2 on my list.

  • YoshEE

Sweet!!! Even though I been knew it gonna be like Scared Stones that walk around the map. :D

  • Eilanzer

“IF” this game get a localized version i buy a 3ds…And till now…is the only reason to someone in the right mind buy a 3ds.

    • KotaroInugami

It very promising. Game have domain name america.

    • Hraesvelgr

Untrue, there are quite a number of games worth buying a 3DS for. Frankly, FE3DS is probably the biggest reason I bought a 3DS, but there are plenty of upcoming games that will undoubtedly be released in English that are worth buying it for.

      • Eilanzer

well…for me…3DS till now is only fire emblem /o/
The rest…Well…I don´t like the “casual” classic nintendo ip´s (mario…zelda…etc), and what made me go and expend my spare time is good old rpg/strategy with great storyline/character development…And 3ds doesn´t have a title in this genre =/

        • Hemppa

That stuff usually takes some time to be developed anyway. Japan has chosen 3DS, so anybody interested in those games might as well buy a 3DS. There’s bunch of cool games there already if you look into it. Price of 3DS shouldn’t be dropping in long time, the revision will mean price increase if something. In many ways a decent timing to buy a 3DS.

    • GWTrinku

I dunno, Kid Icarus wound up being far better than most of us expected.
      I’d say it’s the current 3ds A-Game.

  • I hope this FE has an Arena as well so I can have op units and tons of gold before halfway throughout the game like in Sacred Stones :))

    • Hraesvelgr

I’ve heard that there isn’t an arena, but having overpowered units and lots of gold doesn’t seem to be a big problem.

  • I like it how you can even edit the character portrait during character creation.

  • pockystix

still mad that; while we can marry the loli and shota characters, we’re barred from any same-sex romance

oh well, at least Dragon’s Dogma will have that

Still damn excited for the game, either way tho

    • Hraesvelgr

Dragon’s Dogma has romance? Wait, what?

Also, as has been said in the past, marriage in this game is more for creating children than one of those “lookit my waifu” things, so I wouldn’t look into it too seriously.

      • pockystix

        I dunno

the pictures they have for the confession scenes may say otherwise. . .

also, yes. DD tumblr answered that there will be romance,a nd same-sex romance.

    • GWTrinku

I think someone may have mentioned it, but the big thing between pair-ups here is producing children as additional units to come from the future and save you from the T-800.

Same sex pairing kinda…you know…hurts that mechanic a bit.I kinda of prefer the way FE is doing it though. It actually affects the game in ways other than giving me a poorly written romance to watch play out painfully and then brag about how I picked the right text choices to my friends.

…Bioware romances are awkward and I loathe for them to become industry standard is what I’m trying to say, I suppose.

      • pockystix

I hate that people look at Bioware’s romance options whenever the subject of romance in games is brought up.

Games have been doing this for years people, same-sex included.

as for the kids thing, apparently, some characters don’t give you kids, so it kind of ruins the point of the mechanic a bit. . . plus, this isn’t FE4, where it was required (kinda sorta) in the story. FE13 has only one required child (thankfully it is not the MU’s child), the rest are entirely optional. . . so again, the making babies subject is just about as hallow as it sounds. Even weirder, you can romance the future kids. . .

  • neetyneety

I usually refrain from displaying my exaggerated desire for awesome games like this, but oh what the heck…

  • Eilanzer

Anyone know if this fire emblem have some sort of multiplayer content or something exchangeable between others 3DS´s ?

  • Freaking do want buy if this get localized. this, RF4 and Harvest Moon Land of Beginning localized = i’ll definetely get 3DS

  • isfuturebright

    I Would buy a 3DS for this!
