By Spencer . May 1, 2012 . 2:26am

Bluepoint Games (God of War HD Collection), Konami, and Armature (formed by ex-Retro Studios staff) are working together to bring Metal Gear Solid HD Collection to PlayStation Vita. This version adds touch screen controls like sliding a finger to sneak around a corner and a magnifying finger tap. Players can also bring their save data from the PS3 version on the go through Transfarring.

What’s missing is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition. Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PlayStation Vita only includes Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. The compilation comes out in Japan on June 28.

Update: Konami sent us an e-mail saying Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PlayStation Vita will be available in North America this June too. A specific release date for the West was not announced.

but ill get the ps3 version instead :P

    • But you wont be able to play MG2 and MG3 (this last one only if u have a 3DS) when you are on the toilet, DONT YOU SEE THE ADVANTAGES?!

      • Zeidge

What advantages?! How long do you even spend in the toilet?!

        • xXDGFXx

Damn, how long has it been? When did boxes start moving an- Oh god, there’s a giant monster in the sky!!!

        • GreekGod88

        • You have yet to know what it is to feel the peace and concentration of what it means to play on the toilet…!

  • If they add in Peacewalker(whether it’s the psp port or HD versio), I’ll buy it immediately…

Don’t lose hope just yet… MGS HD collection doesn’t have Peacewalker in the Japanese version but NA/EU did so it could happen the same thing to the Vita version too….

Oh, hooray. Metal Gear gets another rerelease. Isn’t that swell. I would applaud, but my right hand is too busy flipping off Nicalis’ twitter page.

Can we get a ZOE 3, Kojima, instead of another MGS title?

Don’t get me wrong. I like the series but all the re-releases are getting tiring.

  • Sucks they didn’t add PW, I’m guessing that was due to space/cartridge limitations? Anyway, both MGS2 and MGS3 are amazing, solid games, and should make up for the lack of PW.

MGS2 is still my favorite Metal Gear game…I haven’t played through PW yet (I do have the game around, it’s just that I can’t find the time to play it, when I have such a huge backlog of games to burn through [knowing most of those are rpgs, it only makes things worse, lol], but I don’t think it’ll dethrone MGS2 as my very favorite :D)

    • RupanIII

Cool to see another MGS2 fan, normally around here ppl seem to like 3 best. I like 3 also, but doesn’t reach the level of the first two imo. MGS1+2 are tied for my favorite ;D Also, I have the same reason for not playing PW yet lol

  • manobon

I’m guessing they didn’t add PW because they’d make more money from people buying the PSP version on the PS Store. I would have liked an HD version of the game on my Vita (with trophies), but since I already have the original, I’m pretty happy that I’ll have MGS 2, 3, MG1, MG2, and PW where ever I can go.

Now get that PS1 support happening so I can have the entire series, Sony!

    • Except that so far PW isn’t on the Vita PSN store. Taking PW off is a stab no matter how you look at it given that it’s probably the best entry out of the three~.

      • manobon

Ah, totally forgot about that- you’re right. I used the PS3-transfer method, but not everyone has a PS3.

(The best entry though? Eh, I wish it had human bosses as well as all the mechs)

        • Yep, pretty much. I don’t have a PS3 so a few of the PSN games are, for the time being, out of my reach. And I said the best entry of the three (at least for my taste), I’m not saying PW was the best entry of all the series. The break from human bosses wasn’t bad imo, and to be honest the creepiness factor of having huge mechs singing / humming while trying to annihilate you was awesome. That and the final battle which had epic all over it~.

        • 3 is the best imo

      • I just checked that PW is indeed on the Vita PSN store a while ago… Did you look in the PSP games section???

        • I just checked the PSN Vita Store and PW is indeed -not- there, this is for the American store, I’ve no idea if the same applies to EU. Performing a search for the game (since I can think of two or three titles that are misplaced) also doesn’t bring any results meaning the game is not yet on the store~.

          • That might be… I’m using an Australian PSN store and since Australia is in Europe’s territory in terms of Online servers, I can definitely see PW is in the PSN store with my Vita…

          • malek86

Sometimes you need to make a manual search, instead of just browsing (for example, MHFU doesn’t appear in the alphabetical list for whatever reason, but it’s indeed available if you search for it). Try that way, I guess.

  • …. They convinced me with the boobs zooming

  • thebanditking

I’ll be sticking with the standard controls (if thats an option) but I will definitely be buying this day one. Playing these portable is of of those dream moments for me as a gamer and to have both on one card and improved visuals and wide screen is amazing.

I see some people are still confused on how to get peace walker on vita. It’s not available through the US vita psn store, but you can get it if you download it from the ps3 psn store in the psp section. All you have to do is transfer it to your vita with the usb cable and content manager. I live in the US and have it on my vita. I’m playing through it right now.
