Pikmin 2 And Mario Power Tennis Budget Wii Ports Coming In June

By Ishaan . May 14, 2012 . 8:30am

Nintendo have released the first trailer for New Play Control! Pikmin 2, which is headed to North America this year, two years after its European release. This version of the game has revised controls that are compatible with the Wii Remote pointer. Take a look at it below:

Instead of releasing the game under the title New Play Control! Pikmin 2, Nintendo are releasing it under their budget "Nintendo Selects" line of games. In addition to Pikmin 2, Mario Power Tennis is being added to the Nintendo Selects line as well. Both games will be released on June 10th for $20.

Additionally, while they aren’t Nintendo Selects titles yet, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Donkey Kong Country Returns are getting price drops to $30. Nintendo also provided an updated sales figure for Donkey Kong, saying the game has sold over 2.5 million in the U.S so far.

Ah ~ I always heard about how Nintendo takes a lifetime to price down their games, and apparently it’s true. I think Mario Kart is still full price after all these years?

Mario Tennis Open seems awesome, so it’s nice to see that the Wii Mario Tennis will be going budget. I’d like to try it, because the last Mario Tennis I played was on the Virtual Boy!

I loved the Wii Donkey Kong Country, that one was awesome. (◕‿◕✿)

I stupidly sold my Mario Kart DS game back when I didn’t care much for it. I wanted to buy it again so I waited for a price drop.

Well, that day never came T_T

      • aoihana

Wow, that’s horrible! It’s still full-priced, if I remember correctly? That’s just crazy!

        • Givemeblood…Nyaa

It might be crazy, but most nintendo game sell pretty well for a really long period of time and as long a game sell they probably don’t see any need to drop the price.

Least you willingly parted with yours; my copy of Brawl died a year after I got it, and the game still runs for £30+ four years later!

  • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Smash bros brawl is finally down in price, lol, im surprised demand has been so high for it for so many years that they were keeping it at $50. Nice.

Does anyone know a good online retailer that offers shipping to two years ago when I still cared enough not to mod my console and import?

  • puchinri

I was just asking a question indirectly related to these last night~. I thought they were going to be for Canada only at first, but this is nice.

  • I really don’t get Nintendo, these games been out for years, and finally dropping the price from 50 bucks, in the case of Brawl, to 30?! And they do this with pretty much all their games that are developed by whoever they own.

I’m so glad I traded in old games for Brawl, wasn’t no way in hell I was paying 50 bucks for a 2 year old game ( got my copy in 2010).

    • James Beatty

The game didn’t get worse because it came out 2 years ago. You are still getting the same game

      • I never implied that the game was bad, your post makes no sense.Actually read what I posted

        • James Beatty

I’m so glad I traded in old games for Brawl, wasn’t no way in hell I was paying 50 bucks for a 2 year old game ( got my copy in 2010).” This is implying that since the game is 2 years old it’s not worth $50. The game is still worth that price. It’s not like the disc aged or anything. It’s still the same exact game that was worth $50 a few years ago. A side note, Nintendo games keeping their value means that they also have more trade in value as well if you wish

      • Bakuryukun

By that logic no game would go down in price ever.

    • As James said, the game is as good as it was 2 years ago and they actually profit selling it at 50$. Why would a company drop the prices of their products for no reason? Moreover, i like my games to be valuable.

That said, i as a costumer like to get my games as cheap as possible of course. In Spain we somehow got SSBB at 15€ new for a limited time, about a year ago, that’s when i got it. Its price from then on is 30€.

    Fatal Frame please

  • KHSoraKeyBlade

Weren’t these titles out like 3 years ago on the Wii?
Or was that only here in Europe? Did America really get screwed over that much :O

    • puchinri

Only in Europe. And we’re getting them, so it isn’t/wasn’t being screwed that much or too badly~.

      • KHSoraKeyBlade

I guess so, I don’t own either of the games but I definitely remember them being on the shelf in various places. Still at least they finally did arrive! This Pikmin re-release definitely sounds like NoA reminding people about the series for when Pikmin 3 arrives though xD Ah well. Enjoy the games people! :DD

        • puchinri

Yeah, we had the other titles, but not Pikmin 3 and none were the cheaper or NS version or anything.

That’s my thinking too. Which, in retrospect, a lot of people were frustrated about Pikmin 2 not being released sooner, but that’s pretty smart timing considering the Wii U and Pikmin 3.

          I don’t know about others, but I know I certainlly will. ♥

  • Getting dat Pikmin 2 pity it won’t be on under the New Play Control! line with reversible cover. 19.99 sure shocked me since I thought it would be 29.99 but for 20 bucks how could I turn down such an offer.

  • protofox

u mean after all these years of seeing smash brothers brawl copies sitting in wal mart for a full 50 bucks is finally coming to an end?
