Tales of Xillia 2 Due Out In November With A Special Dualshock 3 Controller

By Ishaan . June 27, 2012 . 9:00am

Tales of Xillia 2, a sequel that takes place a year after the original game, will be released on November 1st, Namco Bandai announced this morning. In Japan, the game will cost 8,830 yen, and players that pre-order it will receive a short story in book form that connects the game to its predecessor.

Japanese blog, Game Jouhou, reports that, alongside the book, players will also receive codes for three in-game costumes. One of these outfits Ludgar, the game’s protagonist, like Emil from Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.

Additionally, Namco Bandai will also release a Tales of Xillia 2 X Edition package, which bundles the game with a specially-designed Dualshock 3 controller inspired by it. Meanwhile, Famitsu will release a DX Pack that comes with a stuffed toy of Ludgar’s cat, Lulu, a B2-sized tapestry, a mug, and a clear file.

Finally, Weekly Shounen Jump magazine reported this week that Alvin and Leia from Tales of Xillia will make an appearance in Xillia 2. Both characters will have new outfits, but details as to their role in the game haven’t been announced.

  • Klaus00

    that’s one fancy controller

  • Spirit Macardi

Emil is from Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, not Xillia.

    • Ack, brain fart. Fixed!

  • MrKappa

Lol, DLC costumes already. Ludger getting an Emil costume was almost like a given, how much anyone wanna bet the little girl gets costumes and ends up with a Marta one. Gonna put one more bet on the table and say the game has no more than 1 costume in it for each character. Better open your wallets and prepare for DLC costumes up the wazoo again.

At least the controller looks kinda cool.

    • It doesn’t even look cool on him

      • RaikageV

      • Göran Isacson

… Ha ha he ACTUALLY looks like he’s cosplaying and feels incredibly awkward about it.

      • LightZero

Yuck I won’t be having him wearing that whenever I play the game. It makes him look super girly.

    • Speedo Redempteur

there is no point to give her a costume since she isn’t playable (elle)

Can’t wait *Goes to preorder it*.

  • Revorse

How much would it cost to preorder the game and the controller? And would the X and O button be reversed if used on a US PS3?

    • ZEROthefirst

When used on a US PS3 the contol scheme would still be the same as usual. Unless you play the Japanese game then the controls will still be normal.

      • Revorse

Thanks. I thought so, just wasn’t 100% sure.

      • Radiosity

Not always, depends on the game. Xillia uses circle for ok same as all JP games but Graces and Vesperia both use X (based on the system setting instead of overriding it).

    • Anime10121

Nope the X and O buttons would remain the same as they are on the Japanese games.

    • kool_cid414

The x and o thing is more of a software thing than a hardware thing as least to my knowledge.

    • ZEROthefirst has the correct answer below.

  • Brandon001

gonna take a guess here and say this wasn’t the surprise

what day was this surprise supposed to be?

    • Anime10121

They said by the end of June, there’s still 3 more days left, so hopefully we hear something (Tales of Xillia localization) by Saturday.

      • Brandon001

        Hope so, i really do

  • Wow, that was fast. :I I’m a little bit worried, but I think I’m just crazy or something.

As for that controller? Ehhh… could be better. But that’s a tastes thing.

  • ZEROthefirst

Damnit you stupid wallet soar through my monitor and reach them will you!!!

  • kool_cid414

I hope both xillia and 2 come out to the us. I just recently bought Graces F and fell in love with it so I could definitely use more tales plus the the choice system of 2 reminds me of a few visual novels I’ve played and that’s definitely a plus for me.

  • akiko_sakuraba

  • akiko_sakuraba

Wait… Alvin and Leia?! WHERE IS ELISE?!

  • I haven’t even played Xillia yet (Because it hasn’t been localized yet. Hint Hint Namco Bandai), but I really want to play this one as well lol

And I do want that controller as well =)

  • RaikageV

I want that controller. Who can get me one of those?
(and no, I don’t want to pre-order because I don’t need the game (due to language))

  • CrimsonalCore

Controller looks awesome. Damn, that is one sexy ass controller.

But on the other website, there is seem to be something missing…

    Like a picture of a guy in a girl’s dress… Even I can’t tell the gender. :S

  • LightZero

I find it strange that I’m more interested in Xillia 2 and couldn’t careless if Xillia 1 comes over. I guess what ruin it for me is knowing that Jude is a whiny, clinging, sad excuse of a MC whereas this Ludgar guy doesn’t seem to be like him…thus far.

    • Radiosity

Jude was wet, sure, but Mira more than made up for that.

  • Sergio Macellaro

    I want one.
But, what i want BADLY is The Localizad version of ToX!!!
    Grant my wish Namco!!!

  • Arrei

Supposedly development had begun on the side while Xillia 1 was still in the works, with the Xillia team being moved to the project after release to really begin development in earnest.

If true, I hope that means this story was planned out better than their last sequel’s.

  • Niermyico

Am I the only one who feels that the controller should be in another color other than black?

  • Prinnydoom

Damn need to hurry and finish xillia now >__<

  • OK. Seriously. Where is our Xillia?!

  • Where’s the Xillia localization announcement? As exciting as this news is (new Tales games are always exciting news) and the dualshock controller is absolutely gorgeous, I’m eager for a localization announcement of the first game.

  • Nitraion

What?! O_o is this deadlock for Xillia 1 to not get to US?
i’m sure next year they have another game already Lol…XD

  • Souji Tendou

Dear god, why Emil’s costume, that costume makes your character looks like……………. ah, nevermind. -_-

  • Setsu Oh

why not include A STICKER with the game?

  • Nikolai Sumcad

I’m crossing my fingers hoping it wouldn’t cost me near $200 this time. -_-

  • keithmaxx

Seeing as how Tales of Graces just took forever to localize, I’m not raising anyone’s hopes about a translated Xillia for, well, perhaps until the next PlayStation or maybe the middle of the Wii U’s lifecycle.

Actually, Xillia 1 and 2 on Wii U would be awesome. Come on Namco Bandai, gimme platform-crossing localization! (If you did it for Vesperia and Graces, I know you can do too for all our monies for Xillia US on the Wii U.)
