D3 Publisher is bringing the Xbox 360 game Earth Defense Force 2017 to PlayStation Vita in Japan. The portable version adds a four player cooperative mode via ad-hoc connectivity or over the Internet play. There are also a handful of bonus weapons you can get by purchasing Earth Defense Force 3 Portable at launch.

The Electropara Blaster, a top secret weapon made with alien technology, comes with the game at launch.

Grab the double pack which has two copies of the game so you can play with a buddy and you’ll get two different weapons. The Reverse Drone launches nanomachines at the allies on the battlefield frontline. Nanomachines heal players, which allows one player to be a healer, if they want. Limit Booster increases the power of vehicles like the bike, helicopter, mech, and tank.

D3 is also giving an additional weapon if you purchase Earth Defense Force 3 Portable from their online store. Heat Blaster is an incredibly powerful short range laser gun. It’s so strong you can’t reload it in battle.

Players can access these extra weapons by redeeming a product code on PlayStation Network. D3 Publisher haven’t said if these bug busters will be available for purchase or if there will be any other downloadable content.

Earth Defense Force 3 Portable comes out on September 27.

  •  Ironically, this is probably the game I miss the most from my 360.  Day1…

    • Testsubject909

I see nothing ironic about it. This game is the game I had the most fun with on the 360 and I’ve played my fair share of 360 exclusives and multiplatform games.

  • This game is definetly not for arachnophobes o-o

And considering spiders are the most vicious and dangerous enemy in the entire game. Yeah, definitely not.

Seriously, if you have more then two spiders on you….

Kill two of them, quick. You never want to deal with more then 1 spider at a time so always ensure you take them out asap and in mid-air preferably because on the ground, they just might get you in their web as you kill them off… Actually just kill spiders on sight.

I am not feeling very good with most vita news here nowadays.T_T

While I see some game that looks really interesting and fun to play, but all the dlc thing, is making me sad here.T_T

The only weapons worth it are the co-op weapons.

Having played EDF 2017 mainly in co-op with a buddy, that healing gun would be THE MOST IMPORTANT THING EVER considering how often you’ll frantically run for healing at higher difficulty settings and pending the missions.

As for the second one. If you’ve a friend who’s good with the mech or the helicopter, an extra boost would be great. (I’m quite good with the mech and helicopter by the way, and it’s excellent for clearing out enemies, taking down spider lairs which you’ll want to do, and great for recon, yes, even that slow as hell mech… Mainly just jump, always jump.)

  • Ah, EDF. The only one I played is the demo I had for EDF 2 portable on my PSP. On a somewhat related note, does anybody know if Sandlot are still around & why the hell was Chousoujuu Mecha MG never released over here?

I have the cartridge & love it but I couldn’t help but notice that almost none of the characters names were of Japanese origin & lastly, I believe there were references to it in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but I guess Nintendo didn’t think this unique mecha game would sell. The world may never know.
