Monster Hunter 4 Has A Touch Of The Wild West

By Ishaan . July 4, 2012 . 11:13pm

As previously reported, one of Monster Hunter 4’s new features is that you now have a travelling base camp. You travel by caravan, and it seems your caravans are what transform into your camp. Concept art from the game’s official website gives us a look at this:

Don’t worry, though—just because there’s a more wild west look the caravans doesn’t mean that the Monster Hunter-style armour sets you’re familiar with will be gone. Capcom shared concept art of those, too:

And here’s concept art of some interiors:

And finally, some terrain shots and other kinds of environments:

Monster Hunter 4 will be released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013. The game has been in development for about two years now. Capcom say this game has the most development staff assigned to it in the series’ history.

Cool MH + Oregon Trail, you can now die fighting monsters or from dysentery…

  • Code

Haha, that’s kind of a neat direction, I really didn’t expect that o3o~!! Also the antenna on that female armor, I so wanna believe that’s from a crab T3T;;; Interesting stuff although I hope this doesn’t mean an abundance of deserts, probably my least favorite terrain >__<;; Says something since usually I hate ice/snow environments so much more, but MH is an exception.

I’m sure there’ll be another area to explore! :D My hype is rising so high, I want to split Capcom’s throat if they don’t localize this. XD

  • and then Capcom passes on localization.

    • CrimsonalCore

No no no no no No No No NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO DON’T SAY IT. D:

I WANT THIS TO COME TO WEST! DX Although, it’s an Western style of Monster Hunter, from the look of it and that WHITE ARMOR.<

I love that wild west touch, definitely nice spin on Monster Hunter, and that transforming caravan is really neat! The character designs are awesome, but above all, I love the interiors! They’re really intricate!

The concept art for the terrains are really beautiful, and the game really reflects on them really well. They have a very saturated, sharp feel, and from the 3D PV on the eShop, it’s very apparent in the game!

2013 will be glorious, surely! (◕‿◕✿)

alright now that green outfit, nice cause dat feather. now i really like the golden color in those pictures of the landscape not many games capitalize on the mid-west-ish looks

  • ohhhhhhhhh. This is looking really good.

  • Sardorim

Caravans how? Reminds me of a Dragon Quest spin-off where you traveled around in a wagon and caught slimes.

    • CrimsonalCore

      Oh, Dragon Quest Monsters?

  • looks amazing~

  • Syn

Iis it just me or do the first two armor sets look like the digivolutions from digimon frontier, them being
    Beetlemon ,
    Agunimon, they look almost identical

  • Göran Isacson

Gotta say that’s some pretty goshdarn awesome armor concept-art. Som of it even looks, dare I say it… practical, and not just like a bunch of sharp stuff welded together to look cool and un-aerodynamic. Neat environments too, even if the in-game movies didn’t look quite so nice.

  • ZEROthefirst

To bad the best news we’ll ever get of this game will be Sven telling us to hold on, there’s a method to their madness about a year after the games release.

  • MrRobbyM
  • I mean…that confirms its getting localized right? I mean its the Wild West.
The Wild WEST. I can dream…

  • hongisfire

    Dual bowgun everyone?

  • heartless141

    love the new armor sets!
3DS sounds more and more tempting now.

  • zeta

so it’s wild west now… Im guessing the new weapons probably be guns or something.

  • why on the 3ds…

    • Because it’s been in development Specifically for the 3DS and the handheld itself is REALLY Popular right now.

And no They won’t Make a Vita version because the vita isn’t doing well in Japan.

      • i don’t want vita, in my opinion , the psp or ps2 version was the best in  controls, i’m havign problems trusting DS / 3DS controls for such a game, in fact it scares me
