Can’t Wait For Ragnarok Odyssey? You Can Get An English Version On August 16

By Spencer . August 2, 2012 . 3:00pm

ragnar1We’re not sure when Ragnarok Odyssey is coming out in North America. We just asked a representative from Xseed who said "no release date has been set." Bummer, but you can play Ragnarok Odyssey in English on August 16.

Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong will release Ragnarok Odyssey with Chinese, Korean, and most importantly for Siliconera readers English text.

Ragnarok Odyssey (the Hong Kong version) also includes three expansion packs on the cart. You get the "Epic Weapons," "Sograt Desert," and "Online Multiplayer update" built into the game. If you’ve been playing the Japanese version you can transfer your save data from that version (as long as it’s created after version 1.3) into the English version of Ragnarok Odyssey.

First print copies include a Ragnarok Odyssey soundtrack, code to get a Gunslinger outfit (boosts HP and AP) and in some stores a PlayStation Vita pouch. You also get a TaeKwon Kid outfit (boosts attack and HP) if you purchase Ragnarok Odyssey within two months of the game’s release. It’s kind of unclear how SCEH will distribute the TaeKwon Kid costume.

Play-Asia is selling the Hong Kong version of Ragnarok Odyssey for $49.99 without the pouch, though.

I think ill support Xseeds hard work, right up until their release.

  • That’s great, but having to register for a HK PSN account will a pain. Not to mention switching accounts is another pain on the Vita. Good news for Asian peeps tho!

    • Rasec46

can’t you play online the hong kong version with an european account for example? since we have the game as a cart and not digital

      • The game is on cart, but DLCs are digital. If you want to get your pre order bonus you still have to make a HK account.

    • Red Veron

Vita games aren’t region-locked so you won’t need another account to play a game released in another region.

  • Ayaka

Xseed is probably doing a marvelous job with this release too!

Can’t wait to put hands on the game and play it, besides even if it doesn’t have the original feeling of the Ragnarok Online experiences, is still looks awesome.

  • Marcelo Henrique Chaves

Wait, wut? If they don’t know when they will release the US version, which version is this one?

    • Actually, Siliconera asked specifically about the Amazon product listing and we were told – “Amazon’s date is a placeholder and isn’t currently correct at all.”

      • Marcelo Henrique Chaves

Thank you all for the quick answers. I was confident that date was accurate, and really looking forward to it. This game and Soul Sacrifice are the most anticipated by me.

    • It’s just a placeholder date. Unless it’s officially announced by the company themselves, not all Amazon dates are correct.

    • Barrit

There seems to be conflicting release dates. Newegg has the date as 9/11/2012. I actually just pre-ordered it today from Newegg for $29.99 with promo code: EMCNBNH229. (24hr code, so it expires later today.) If I wasn’t getting it this cheap, I’d probably consider the Asian version.. but I’ll just wait.

  • xavier axol

Aaaah! i have got to read the article before getting all excited, darn it!. why? why? why do you tease? the headline was so deceiving. man… i’m going to the bathroom (you got me all upset).

  • Solomon_Kano

    Tempting, but I’ll wait.

  • So one version with English and another with Engrish? :p

    • maybe not everything is in english or its in poor engrish i rather wait for xseed lol

  • Raharu95

Already pre-orrdered my copy from Xsedd, i think I’ll wait patiently.

  • Raiyu

That box art looks pretty badass.

But I’m going to wait for XSeed’s release.

  • Mmm it´s been a while since i purchased something over there, but it sounds really tempting *¬* . Also, talking about play asia, they have Dragon´s Crown release date listed for June 2013… ouch u.u

  • Crevox

This is kinda mean to xseed, if people buy this release no one will buy their release

  • I was wondering is there any publisher for Europe?

    • JazzyMan123

Nope. Could try asking RSG or Ghostlight though.

  • JazzyMan123

Just wait for XSEED’s version everybody, then the money you pay goes to them.

    • Probably be good for people in Europe to import this, it includes as far as I know all the paid DLC including online patches. As for the code, I’m not a fan of TaeKwon or Gunslinger so I’m good. I might preorder this from play asia since delivery is free and all.

      • JazzyMan123

XSEED’s version could be the same as this though. Which version?

        • Hmmmm I remember there were some article saying xseed might release those paid dlc for free so I assume the us version wouldn’t include those 3 dlc and latest update. Spencer could you ask if the DLCs and update is built in like the Asian version?

          • Yeah we asked Xseed before and they said they are working on adding those things in. My guess is the English version is going to be pretty much like the Asian version since this is an official product from Sony Computer Entertainment (as the publisher) and Game Arts/Gung Ho.

  • Syltique

It would be nice if we got some word on when NA will get the game, because I’ll wait if it’s not something super long.  I’ll be importing Project Diva f anyway, so I can wait a bit.

  • Not sure what it’s worth but Amazon has the NA version listed as Aug 21.

    • Check out the comments below, we asked Xseed about the Amazon release date too.

      • Christopher Nunes

I assumed it was coming out in September… seems reasonable enough.

  • Steve Baltimore

I will wait for Xseed’s release they need my support more than some company in Hong Kong does.

  •  I was considering getting this one but after reading the comments… I will wait for Xseeds version

  • I’m worried about the translation in the HK ver. and also wondering if I can transfer my JPN save into the XSeed ver. since I’ve already beaten the game.

  • .

Waiting for xseed’s version, gotta support the company that brought over corpse party.

    • Christopher Nunes

Already got it pre-order in the US! Think we’ll get the TaeKwon Kid outfit and the Gunslinger outfit?

  • Christopher Nunes

Looking forward to the official US release of Ragnarok Odyssey from XSeed! ^_^
Got it pre-order and ready for pick up! Though I do hope we get those outfits, the TaeKwon Kid outfit is a Tae Kwon Do based outfit right? I haven’t seen it, but I look forward to it!

Can’t wait to get this! My Vita needs more games!

  • Go2hell66

Wow i am so tempted to grab the HK version, dont think i can handle the wait, maybe ill grab the hk and the us version? XSeed plz hurry, im going crazy over here

  • Im getting Xseed’s ver. it releases this month anyway

  • Lightthrower

Any way to get that Vita pouch in NA? Would love to get one since I don’t have any for my Vita o_O

  • “If you’ve been playing the Japanese version you can transfer your save data from that version (as long as it’s created after version 1.3) into the English version of Ragnarok Odyssey.”

Woah…. Since this doesn’t have an EU release date, I’m importing the HK version anyways… It’s good to have an Asia account sometimes…

  • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

For a moment there I thought it was Xseed’s version and that they were just teasing. I feel trolled~.

  • Atopanda

This game is catching my attention..since I live in Europe would it be worth importing the Xseed’s version? What exactly would I be missing out on, just DLC and I assume Multiplayer right?

    • I doubt you miss stuff, it surely have the same things o.0 and vita isnt region locked (thank to god, THANK GOD!!)

      •  But the playstation network is. A NA copy will need DLC from the NA PSN, and since the Vita can only hold one account at a time, its a double edged sword.

        • Atopanda

Is it still possible to play the actual game without a NA PSN? I don’t mind missing out on DLC as long as it doesn’t take away the enjoyment from the game..

  • ForThePlot

Does anyone know whether the online function work outside of Hong Kong region though??

  • it’s move on august 21 both cart and download, according to memo received by duowan,

  • The online DLC, and other DLC’s are already on the cart meaning pre installed into the game so there is no need to have a HK PSN account to download them. They are already preinstalled, meaning you can import this to the UK if you want and use your UK PSN account and even play online, as everything is region free.
The only thing you cannot do is download any future DLC, this would require a HK PSN account but if your like me and not bothered about paying £3 for a piece of armour etc then its game on.
    To summarise:-
1)You can play on a uk psn online.
2)The dlc in this blog is already on the game with no need to download.
3)Any future dlc would require a HK PSN account.
