LittleBigPlanet developer, Media Molecule, are working on a new platformer for the PlayStation Vita, titled Tearaway. The game takes place in a world made of paper, and stars Iota, a messenger who has a message for you, the player. In order to read it, you need to help Iota get through the game. Here’s a trailer:

    Looks promising.

It looks like it could be pretty good, the paper aesthetic definitely works for it and the use of the Vita’s features is pretty neat. I only hope the devs can make it last long enough, I get the impression that it’s probably going to end up a short game.

  • ooh I love what I see.  I was hoping for a single player friendly game from these guys.

One of the “creative” titles shown at Sony’s press conference. Definitely looking forward to this platformer. Wished there was a general release date given, like spring or summer 2013.

Also, for some reason, I laughed pretty hard when the demonstrator picked up the enemy cyclops and threw him back through the door it came out of. It’s the little quirks like those in games that can go a long way to entertain the player.

  • Great use of the Vita’s functionalities. I loved the LBP series and this one is looking like a really fun game.

  • Between this and Puppeteer there’s 2 guaranteed buys for me…

seriously, I don’t know why people doubt the Vita

I loved the game’s idea, however i think if the only weapon Iota have is our finger coming from the ground, i would get bored really fast. I think if we could create weapons from paper, or animals, would be more interesting. Kinda like Deidara in Naruto.
But it’s really soon, i bet they will add a lot to the game. Gonna keep my eye on this title.

    • They show other stuff like the voice controls.  I’m sure there’s more to it than just poking the back panel…

Attention duelists- my hair is in love.

No really, that is all. I am instantly smitten with this trailer and what you do in this game. Definitely keeping an eye out for it.

  • I just hope the game doesn’t FORCE you to scream into your Vita because that’d render it unplayable in public.

I believe other games on other consoles responded well to tapping the microphone, so there’s an option.

  • Solomon_Kano

I didn’t care for the Little Big Planet series at all, but Media Molecule has my full attention with this one! The game looks lovely.

I’d never have expected MM’s next game to be one Vita. Between this and Killzone: Mercenary actually being handled by Guerilla, things are picking up on the first party front.

At first I was like, “okay…”, then I was like, “Okay!”, then I was like, “Okay!!”.

    …That’s a good thing.

  • Some1onearth

The song really helped the trailer for me…not sure if want game or if I just liked the song for that moment.

    • HassanJamal

why not both? i mean come on, the interactivity of the game and the designs look amazing and the music complimented the trailer quite well. btw, whats the name of the song?
