Remember Under Night In-Birth, the upcoming fighter from Melty Blood developer, French Bread? Last night, French Bread posted a load of in-game footage of the fighter, showing off its playable cast in full. You can watch these below:

Huh, this actually looks really good. Just another 2D Fighting game to add to the small pile I suppose. I’m quite fond of Hyde…..

  • evilmoogle

Got the feeling this game will be underrated.
    Looks so good.

    • SLick123456789111

It probably will be unfortunately. These types of fighters are usually thrown under the rug.
On the bright side though (for me) , I’m loving Linne , like , alot :]
Hopefully they bring this series to psn sometime in the future after everything is ironed out.

      • Kyle D. Johnson

(Oh hey! I didn’t know you frequent this place too! How’s it going!?)

        ‘Tis truly unfortunate.

        • SLick123456789111

           Pretty good.
And yeah , Siliconera is a much more down to earth place to look up VG news on , so I’ve been chilling here more than SRK or IGN.

    •  See how Melty Blood kinda was…i wouldn’t be surprised but i kinda doubt it~

    • ForteWily

Yeah, that the thing… this is a Japanese game in every sense of the word. Outside of those having an interest in that type of game (players of MB, players of GG/BB, importers etc.), this isn’t going to be impressing say “The EVO crowd”.

That said, it’s one to watch.

  • French

    it looks fluid

  • Daniel Morandi

Whoa, the game is preety good it seems. I used to think it was ugly but now I’m changing my mind then again I shouldn’t doubt of French Bread.

The female characters are kind of appealing. Orie use her persona :P

    • Kyle D. Johnson

That is clearly a STAND, good sir! Polnareff shall come calling!

      (All in good fun!)

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Someone who wields the rapier and controls a Stand… who is SHE?

  • This just looks so ridiculously good.

  • Tre W

Will preorder asap, assuming French Bread is serious about wanting to get a PS3 port down the line. Seth and UNREAL BLACK THING (Merkava) are the characters I want to try the most.

  • MrJechgo

This and Chaos Code need more attention, honestly. 2D fighters need more love.

  • ThatAzure

I’ve been following what ever news this game gets (which wasn’t much for a long time lol), and I’m happy to see this :D! Linne looked really fun to play XD! I hope this game somehow makes it to US and EU.

  • Valtiel Ikari

This looks like it could be as good or better than Blazblue!

I like Seth, looks versatile enough with his traps like powers and dash slashes, totally my type of character! But I also like Hyde, seems balance enough!
Carmine, afther his video definetly is the type of character thats belong in “Deadmen Wonderland”.

    • I actually saw a lot in these videos that made me keep thinking “BlazBlue copycat…”.

Just watching the Vatista video it was painfully obvious that she is a Lambda/Nu clone — visual design, attack and BnB move sets, down to the seiyuu’s vocal tone and match-end stance.

That said, I see nothing wrong with this — the videos all show what looks have good potential for a clean technical fighter, the style is excellent (if you’re gonna copy, copy the best), and the HUD and informational pop ups looks excellent.

Ultimately I don’t care if everyone clones each-other, we need more 2D fighters.  The 3D crap bugs me.  I’ll play some DOA5 and I put up with SFxT for a little, but it’s creepy.  These 2D fighters are what I live for.

Can’t wait for this to come out on a console so I can import.

  • gaiahatergaia

    Looks badass.

  • I want this soooooooo bad! >_<

  • Kris

kill each other, but it’s good “INVERSES”

Most babbly nonsense I’ve ever seen in a fighting game.

  • MrKappa

Console release coming late 2013 – early 2014.
That’s the trend with these kind of games.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

I loved the melty-blood games this one looks awesome

    • This game is made by the creators of Melty, but it has no relation to Type-Moon. Completely original game.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

:3 jinx I was just about to change that XD

  • I had high hopes and expectations from when I saw this game initially. After what I’ve witnessed, I am SOLD on this gem! Waldstein looks like a heavy that won’t soon be outclassed by the rest of the roster and Vatista looks like the Nu/Mu/Lambda of UNIB. The game however looks fantastic, very fluent, beautiful art, a world of badass and it seems to be balanced enough.

  •  Eh, I thought this game was already released since I watched the side tournament in SBO. Looks like I was wrong yet again.  Should be a good game, but the current version’s HUD looks a bit too much like Melty Blood. It is Melty Blood with minimal changes. Maybe change the HUD a bit to show that you’re doing a different game altogether?

    • ForteWily

That was a test build to be honest, more or less to drum up some PR at the tournament (Last that I checked, one of Japan’s biggest).

  • This looks really fast and fluid. Is it just me, or does it seem like some of the attacks take a huuuge amount of screen? Man, it’s going to take me awhile to get used to that, if I ever pick this game up.

All the characters look good, but I have no idea how they really play. Gordeau looks kinda cool though.

  • neogeno

I’ve always admired the style put into the animations French Bread create. Those attacks are just fun to watch. Same thing with Aksys and BlazBlue. I think thats why I enjoy 2D fighters over 3D ones. There is more room to flex with animation style. Yeah…I think this is going to be one to keep an eye on.

  • Wellp, looks like I’ve already chosen a character. Vatista, GO!

    • Kyle D. Johnson

I didn’t think it was possible to upstage Nu in that regard.

I was wrong. I was so wrong, but it’s so RIGHT!

  • Kyle D. Johnson

    > My face when I realize Seth is Tohno, NANAYA, and Ryougi Shiki all at once. Ooooh, happy days are here again!

  • Fryxell

Carmine’s crazy laugh…oh god yes he’ll be my main!

  • Go2hell66

argh i need this game in my life!

and yatagarasu is getting a 3DS release as well! good times!

  • LuciferD666

Hmm…After not following this game for just 3 days this turns up?Lol I was stupid not to go to my twitter account.

Since I’ve known the rest of the cast regardles of gameplay for so long(even though looking at blurry loketest vids counts too I guess). It’s still an easy pic for me:Gordeau

If this ever comes west(with the track record of the dev never having a release west).Since I’ve seen him for the kind of character I assumed he’d be from his announcement.A straight out brawler that enjoys fighting(although his previous trailer vid long ago got me hooked to main him).Hah,even his background story says so lol.Gameplay seemes fitting for me also.

I’m also thinking of playing Linne too.Since I loved playing Ryougi Shiki and she looks like she’d be a similar character(fighting-wise).

P.S. My brother and I get a Motochika(from Basara) vibe from Gordau,if anyone knows what I mean lol.

  • WyattEpp

I’m glad French-Bread seems to have found success in making fighting games.  And with original characters, too!  Need to figure out who’s on soundtrack duty next; I’m rather liking it.

(Still, I do hope they make another beat-em-up some day; they’re really good at it.)

  • Safros9

Vatista… really reminds me of Nu and Mu. Which is pretty cool.

  • Drooool!

  • DemonicX

Lovely. No chance of this coming to the US though, huh?

  • Solomon_Kano

Orie, Gordeau, Hyde, and Linne look awesome. Carmine… I’m not sure if he wants to be Crow or if he wants to be Jedah.

Never paid the Melty Blood games any mind, but I’ll definitely import this once it ends up on consoles. Good work, French Bread.

  • I miss the days when fighting games still said “Round One, Fight!” I dont like this new “creativity” with English words…
