Senran Kagura 2 To Have Overhauled Game System Says Producer

Bursting Boobs Producer, Kenichiro Takaki, has big plans for the Senran Kagura franchise. The series already has one successful game to its name, various manga series in Japan, an upcoming new game this week, and an anime series scheduled to air in 2013. What’s next?

According to Takaki, he’s thinking of Senran Kagura 2. That’s right; Senran Kagura Burst: Crimson Girls isn’t the same as “Senran Kagura 2″.

Speaking with Nintendo Dream magazine in Japan, if Burst does well, Takaki says he hopes to create Senran Kagura 2 for the Nintendo 3DS with an overhauled game system.

Takaki didn’t provide Nintendo Dream with any specifics on this front, but last year, he shared with Siliconera in an interview: “Instead of having it just be a simple side-scroller, I would set the camera to better capture the action for each scene. I’d also add co-op and versus play and let players dress the girls up and change how their outfits tear.”

Devil May Kagura? That could be interesting to see.

I’d rather some stylus gameplay somewhere in there
Use the stylus to slice and tear…
    Kukukuku…

Would love to hear any updates about burst coming state side…

Even once the game is out in japan we might still have to wait a few months before hearing any localization news.

Hopefully before they do a sequel Senran Kagura Burst will be localized or will be in the process of being localized.

Excellent. Things like this make it worth while that I imported a 3DS. I’m surprised that Burst isn’t Senran Kagura 2 but I’m glad the series will be getting more games!

Well, Burst is just the opposite viewpoint, isn’t it? But yeah, I was surprised that they don’t consider it to be Senran Kagura 2 as well. Very smart, Takaki.

Senran Kagura with Devil May Cry’s battle system?
    DO IT NOW.

A Senran Kagura game with DMC3/4-style combat mechanics would be as close to perfection as mankind will ever get.

Haha, sadly, I don’t think Tamsoft (the hands-on developer) have the talent for that! The best they’ve shown they’re capable of in 3D is something like Oneechanbara.

Thankfully that’s just Ishaan who mentioned DMC and not the producer. The last thing i want SK to be is like DMC. CAPCOM DMC. I’m not talking about the reboot.

Id prefer they take inspiration from Ninja Gaiden if they wanna take it into a more action hack n slash instead of just a side scrolling beat em up.

Devil May Kagura was a joke, of course. I was actually thinking more along the lines of Metroid: Other M.

Takaki said he wanted to move away from a side-scroller toward something that constantly used the best camera angle to give you a view of the action, and that’s exactly what Other M is. It’s 2.5D.

Were it not for the fact that Other M isn’t a melee action game, the comparison would work perfectly, in my mind.

Other M never popped into my head but if we’re strictly talking about camera that would be awesome.

        …I’d be okay with this

Wow, so Senran Kagura is becoming a big series with adaptations, merchandising and everything else. I really didn’t expect it to be more than an individual game or a duology. Amazing.
That said, it is a game with fanservice and we are talking about the Japanese market…%)

All we need now is a North American publisher…

Xseed Games is the only one to show any interest. Over at forums fans got a very rude “No” to the game.

    So much good news today.

I wonder if Takaki will ever move the franchise over to the big consoles as in PS3, 360, or even the Wii or WiiU in the future? I think that would be really fun. Also, yes, localization please =)
