In 2006, American McGee, known for his work on id Software titles such as the early Doom and Quake games, as well as American McGee’s Alice, founded a development studio named Spicy Horse Games in Shanghai. Spicy Horse are currently working on a fantasy action RPG titled Akaneiro: Demon Hunters for PC.

Akaneiro: Demon Hunters is set in feudal Japan and has you fighting youkai, demons from Japanese myths and folklore. You can watch a trailer for the game above. The trailer also mentions at one point that the game will be free-to-play.

A closed beta-test for Akaneiro: Demon Hunters will begin soon, and you can sign up for it here. Spicy Horse haven’t announced a release date for the game yet, but they are looking into a Steam release for the game. If you like, you can vote for it on Steam Greenlight here.
