Street Fighter X Tekken 2013 Patch Makes Recoverable Health Clearer & Other Tweaks

By Spencer . October 11, 2012 . 9:31pm

Capcom is preparing a major balance patch for Street Fighter X Tekken scheduled for release in mid-December. The 2013 version update is not a "Super" version of the game, it’s like the Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition 2012 update. Oh, did we mention it’s free?

One tweak is recoverable health is easier to see. Street Fighter X Tekken 2013 version makes this red (right) compared to light yellow in the current version (left).

Characters glow less after activating gems too. Street Fighter X Tekken 2013 version is on the right.

Other tweaks will speed up fights like shortening the length of the Fight graphic and speeding up the camera when a player does a Boost Combo.

Life recovery speed has been fine tuned so there are less time over situations. Throw start up animations have been adjusted from seven frames to five frames.

All of the Tekken characters are having their anti-air attack moves adjusted too. If you hit an opponent in the air you can juggle them similar to how you would in the Tekken games.

For character specific tweaks, Ken’s Shippy Jinraikyaku has extended range and damage. Kazuya’s EX Wind God Fist now makes him invincible for the duration of the attack. M Bison’s Knee Press Nightmare grants invincibility to projectiles. Bob and Paul are overall faster in Street Fighter X Tekken 2013 edition. These are just some of the changes in Street Fighter X Tekken 2013 edition. Capcom will announce more at a later date.

Personally, I wish they’d stop trying to salvage this game and go work on the games people actually care about. I can’t imagine too many people are gonna be willing to buy back another copy of this game now. Especially with the saturation of fighting games we have now.

I care about the game and the update is free. I think it’s great they listened complaints from the community and are working to create a even better game.

If Capcom would only care about it’s most profitable and well-liked fighter, we would have a LOT more updates to the SFIV series while forgeting other great fighting games such as SFxTK, Darkstalkers, MvsC3 and others.

      • Crevox

Currently I believe “most profitable and well-liked fighter” goes to UMvC3.

      • DRocks94

I’m not saying don’t care about other series but I’m saying they waited far too long to actually do anything. Very few people still play SFxT as of right now, and I can’t see that many people getting excited about it now. Especially with TT2, UMvC3, P4, DOA5 being out now, and Injustice and a new BB on the way.

        • Ty Austin

Actually, a lot of people still play this game.  Plus they have the Vita release coming, this game still has plenty of life.  I can find matches waaay easier than I can in P4, and the top P4 players are saying they’re dropping P4 because the new BB is coming out.  In comparison, SFXT is doing fine.

You can’t rush changes as big as this, do so and you get another Rolento knife glitch.  They want to make sure they make the right changes so this game will be successful.

People say that Capcom is only in it for the money, that they screw their fans over.  Capcom then reaches into their own pockets to provide a free update that will fix things and now people complain Capcom is wasting time.  This isn’t primarily about making money, it’s about making amends with fans.  Can’t make everyone happy, I guess…

Remember SSFIV: AE and how horrible it was? Remember how many people dropped that game? Hell, i’d have returned it if it wasn’t a digital download. Are you saying just because something is bad the first time around, that they should just quit and not attempt to fix it? AE2012 managed to fix AE for the better to the point where many people who dropped AE came back to it, who’s to say 2013 won’t do the same thing?

    • Is tweaking SF4 necessarily going to increase purchases more than SFxT?

  • Welp, it’s free!

    • Tom_Phoenix

Even Capcom would have a hard time justifying charging for a balance patch.

  • Romangelo

how about taking the whole gem system out?

    • sd28

or they could not do that and fix the bigger problems the games has such as time outs

    • OatMatadoQuatro

For a second I thought I wrote something XD
I need to change my avatar

    •  I wish, too bad they never will because they’ve already had users purchasing gems…

I’m actually curious now- how much did this sell and how active is the community? I wonder if there is in fact an audience for this work that will enjoy this update, or if Capcom is just pumping in manhours into a sinking ship (which is certainly what it sounds like judging from all the doom-sayers on the internet, but trusting those isn’t always the wisest decision…)

  • sd28

im glad there at least attempting to fix the game and hope it goes well as the the game does still have potential

  • MrJechgo

Care to explain why this game is getting more attention than SSFIVAE, which is far more popular that SFxTK ?

    • It has more problems and needs to be adjusted to become more popular? Damage control.

Still waiting for Capcom to make good on their blunders and make the DLC Characters free and give 360 owners EVERYTHING… until they do they won’t get any money from me.

    So Probably never
