Famitsu shared some of the robots in The Battle Robot Spirits. This mecha action game from Macross 30 developer Artdink brings giant robots from different anime series together. Who can you play as and who can you turn into scrap?

Nirvash Type Zero from Eureka Seven

Guren S.E.I.T.E.N. Eight Elements from Code Geass

Tauburn from Star Driver

Zegapain Altair from Zegapain

Fafner Mark Zehn from Fafner Mark Zehn

Heroman from Heroman (duh)

VF-25F Super Messiah Valkyrie from Macross F

Vox Aura from Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne

The Battle Robot Spirits will cover more anime series and Namco Bandai has plenty of time to reveal more robots. The Battle Robot Spirits is slated for release on PSP in spring 2013.

    Is…is this A.C.E competitor finally???^_^

    • Kibbitz

I would prefer this over ACE if they’re using a similar engine to that for their Macross games for PSP.

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

If they are using the Macross engine, it would be great but i don’t think all MS will be suitable with that engine as Macross engine is for very fast paced moves while some MS on this game is actually a slow movement MS like the Heroman or even Aquarion.

        • Kibbitz

Artdink did Gundam Battle Universe before all the Macross and the motion for slower heavier armoured units vs standard MS IIRC was pretty decent, so I’m sure they’ll do fine with this.

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Hmm i am not sure here as GBU actually is not a really great game too as i feel all the MS physics is actually the same while in the game/story context should be different each other.

          • Kibbitz

I don’t think there’s sufficient reason for MS physics to be that different, so I guess we’ll just have to disagree on this. Either way, let’s just wait for video footage, we’ll at least have hints if not answers by then.

      • For me the ACE 3 engine was the best. Mechs move sufficiently fast without teleporting across maps when maxed like GBU and melee has more weight. However I do love the lock on system from the PSP Macross games. Macross units in ACE just does not feel fun compared to Macross Ultimate Frontier.

I hope that Guren wouldn’t be so OP like in the SRW games ( I know they’re not the same games but when it gets its wings, it becomes OP as ****)

  • Mr_SP

Wait a minute… Is that the Mark Zehn… Or the Mark Sein? There is a Mark Zehn, and it’s been a while, but I thought that design was the Sein. Especially since Sein is the one piloted by the main character, and the Zehn isn’t.

Also, the series that it’s from is Fafner of the Azure: Heaven and Earth, not “Fafner Mark Zehn”.

  • I knew the Voxes would start appearing in these sorts of crossover games.

    • MrTyrant

Appearing in SRW is obliggatory, it’s only a matter of time.

  • Tianyu Wei

Why PSP :( If it’s on the VITA… the Robot would look much cooler…

  • DemonicX

Well, I guess I’ll be looking forward to this game. Having the Nirvash and Guren in one game is enough.

  • Göran Isacson

You mean that I can get Star Drivers characters… in a plot with ACTUAL STAKES?

I don’t know how to handle this exciting new alternate dimension.

so looking closer it’s apparently some kind of beat-em-up and it’s
unlikely it gets a story like SRW, but still- cool to see that Star
Driver still lives on. I liked the show well enough, but the repetition
and the crawling sensation of nothing engaging actually happening kind
of spoiled it for me. Although man, imagining Kallen or Lelouch talking to any of the Star Driver kids…
“I caused untold deaths, ruined lives and hurt so many around me, and in the end gave all that I could give… so that the world could know a moment of peace, if only for but a fleeting moment. So what’s your story?”
“I almost kind of had to accept someone else sacrificing their lives, but then I punched sense into him, punched my dad in the face and caused his whole organization to crumble, and now me and my boyfriend and girlfriend live happily ever after :D !”
    “… :D”
    “Yes sir?”
“Cook me up a Galactic Pretty Boy.”
    “Right away sir.”

Anyhow, this game! No idea how it will play really, I’ve only played Tech Romancer so my experience with mechbased fighting games is quite small. Anyone out there who has any idea how this might play, I see that some people seem to think it’s based on a pre-existing engine?
