Here’s a cool use of the PlayView app Sony made and hasn’t talked much about. The PlayStation 3 eBook reader now has digital copies of the Persona 4 Official Art Book, Shigenori Soejima Art Works 2004-2010, and Catherine Official Visual & Scenario Collection ♀VENUS☆MODE♂.

While having the Catherine guide on your coffee table would probably be an… interesting conversation piece, digital PS3 copies are much cheaper to import.

Shigenori Soejima Art Works 2004-2010 – 1,400 yen

is this app and art books only avaliable for PSN japan? never seen an app like that on psn us :( i SO want this

    • Detrimont

      i think everyone does

    • Kevadu

      Fortunately the PS3 is region-free.

  • badmoogle

This is a great feature!I’d love to get some art books in my EU PSN store.

That… is really bloody awesome. While I do like having an actual book, I always have to mind the possible wear and tear, as well as storage space. Digital books won’t have that problem, at the cost of being confined to a large device and screen.

But beyond the respective pros and cons, the price is really great, so I hope more art books – or books in general – join the library in the future.

    This is pretty cool.
I would get them, but seeing as I have both of these books on my bookshelf…I don’t think I would go an buy a digital version of them.

love it, but would honestly work that much better on a retina ipad!

  • Oltheros

That’s pretty cool. From a collecting standpoint, obviously nothing beats the physical thing, but these could look great on a nice big HDTV.

What if Udon did somthing like this for the US store?

  • Himiko

I’m definitely getting the Catherine one.

  • brandon001

    None for you America!!

Why the hell would you want a digital artbook you can only view on your TV, thats just…wow. This is dumb.

    • Jesse Thompson

I’m right there with ya Arla, while I usually gobble up anything Persona or by Atlus. I can honestly say I will never sit in front of my TV and just…look…at these digital images. There is way too much else to play/do these days. I buy the artbooks for collection purposes, and yes, they make great conversation pieces.

What? Why would you want to read an eBook on your TV? Sounds like an awful way to read it, at least to me.

Internet browsing also involves lots of text-reading and picture-staring, and people don’t mind using their TVs for that. I believe this is no different :-)

  • Tianyu Wei

Not to mention these could probably be of great source materials for awesome wall papers.

  • Maia Kasoya

I’ve seen some pictures of the pages of the Catherine Art Book on the Catherine Wiki, and in terms of the English, there are quite a bit of errors… Like the .hack//G.U. concept book.

  • Zenthos

Ah! The reward for being a ps3 owner!

  • YourAshyAss_Elbows

wtf.. .just get a regular copy of each book. lol.

  • Alexandra Cordes

    Want. -w-

  • drexxia
