Mega Man Xover Celebrates Mega Man’s 25th Anniversary With Classic Robot Masters

Ah, Toad Man. Quite possibly the easiest boss in the history of Mega Man. All you had to do was slide under him in Mega Man 4. He’s back for in Mega Man Xover, a social spinoff where you automatically run through levels.

Capcom Japan is celebrating Mega Man’s 25th Anniversary with a retro worlds complete with chiptunes and Famicom sprites. Players earn screw points when they play through these stages.

Mega Man Xover has also been updated with a group chat feature and if you logon before January 15 you’ll get a Mega Man X battle memory with artwork drawn by Mega Man X manga artist Yoshihiro Iwamoto.

Mega Man Xover is available now as a free download for iOS.

They made Toad Man even easier. God damn casuals.

  • Shuryou

This is not a ‘celebration’, Capcom.

    • Peeka Chu

Celebration of Shovelware! All depends on how you look at it.

  • Now that’s a competition for Bad Boxart Mega Man! :D

  • Elvick

Honestly, this is more lazy than anything to me. Not a fan of re-using sprites in new games with different design. Hated when Konami did that for Harmony of Despair too.

    ‘Screw points’ LOL

I see what you did there, Capcom!

  • Aw, its Airman.

  • For a while the skill level required to make a video game was just getting higher and higher. Now Capcom is releasing games that look like one-man shareware productions from the 90’s. What happened?

  • game of the year candidate ‘mega man xover’ just got much better thanks capcom

  • Nitraion

Lol why I read it as “Megaman isover” dammit my brain XD

I don’t know. I think Flashman is honestly a much easier boss, hell if you know how to beat Airman you could even argue Airman is easier then Toadman.

Toadman at least requires you to have timing and to actively avoid him from landing on you.

Flashman? Just shoot… Don’t bother trying to dodge, just keep shooting. Sure he’ll freeze you a few times but odds are you’ll kill him faster then he’ll kill you.

Airman? Stick to the left, when he’ll jump over, just shoot him dead.

At this point, I’m starting to think Capcom is being very sarcastic about this 25th anniversary “celebration”.

  • OverlordZetta

That’s nice and all, but it’s a Japan only game, and even if you download it, you can’t actually play it.
