Here’s Sega’s Demon Tribe, By The Producer Of Jet Set Radio

By Ishaan . January 16, 2013 . 12:05pm

Sega have released a trailer for Demon Tribe, their upcoming iOS RPG where you transform into and fight demons. No, this has nothing to do with Shin Megami Tensei; it’s being directed by Jet Set Radio producer Riichiro Yamada, and developed at Sega Networks. Take a look at the trailer below:

Demon Tribe has training and battle parts. In the training parts, you’re in a base. The game also supports 3-on-3 battles. Sega haven’t provided a release date for Demon Tribe yet.

This looks quite good. *Notices it’s an iOS game* Well, America is never getting it then.

Non of the cell phone games I like ever come here. I Got a android specifically for Disgaea for it, then I learn they canceled the english version.

all of these iOS games coming out….. I hate it so much D:

Was about to say the exact same thing. The amount of games coming out on is is getting me pretty pissed.

      • ffboi7

It is getting pretty ridiculous. Especially looking at Square Enix released 5 original games last year and they were for the iOS D:

I like iOS/Android games, and I’m getting sick of it.

Especially since I’d rather play most of them elsewhere…

I like them as well but with a lot of Japanese developer it seems like they lean more towards developing for mobile platforms rather then the handheld platforms. Its understandable with the fact the mobile owners>handheld owners but most of these would work just as well on either 3DS or PS Vita

        • Elvick

I don’t understand why they don’t do both.

I know licensing is probably a reason, but if that’s the case Sony and Nintendo should rethink their way of things so they can get more games and narrow the difference.

    is there a US release?

So many good ideas…all thrown into the iOS bin >:

Look, I realize that it’s must cheaper to produce games for the iPhone, but this is getting ridiculous now. Why is everyone throwing all of the GREAT ideas at the iPhone and not a proper handheld console, at least?

    • Strain42

iOS devices are proper handheld devices, and over the past year have proven to be damn good ones. People just have these preconceived notions that it’s nothing but simple casual games, which is just as incorrect as the people who proclaim Nintendo consoles are nothing but kiddy toys.

If this game was on the Vita it would cost $40, I look forward to probably paying less than 10 for it.

      • Kaihedgie

If you have a game like Rockman XOver on the iOS, you begin to see why people are against decisions like this. For me, it’s nothing to do with whether or not it’s “casual” or “hardcore”, because frankly, I don’t like using either terms.

No, my problem is that these great ideas are getting shafted into very low/cheap budget products that would more than likely see far more mainstream attention as a console game, handheld or not than a measly app on your phone you’ll most likely play once and never pick up again. Not to mention not everyone has an iPhone and it’s pretty evident that those who do don’t like it either

        • Strain42

Okay, I will concede that point. I can certainly sympathize with the annoyance of a beloved series suddenly changing consoles like that, but that can be applied to any device, not specifically iOS. Like I love the Persona series, but if they announced P5 for iOS, I’d be here decrying it with everyone else.

However this is a brand new IP and has just as much right to be on iOS as any other console out there, and with any luck it will be another step towards people realizing the potential it has as a gaming device.

          • Kaihedgie

That might be okay if the iPhone was marketed as a gaming device and not a mobile communication device. That’s what the 3DS and Vita are for; dedicated gaming devices with superb capabilities rivaling home consoles on the go. The iPhone is basically just a fancy phone that gets more updates than Street Fighter II, with somehow progressively less functionality.

If Apple’s actually going to bother with video games in the first place, why not just make a game console instead?

  • shogunknight

I will await your PSN/XBL/PC arrival, patiently crying

  • Strain42

As someone who actually likes and respects iOS devices as the well crafted gaming machines they are, I must say I’m really looking forward to this title. I’m getting sort of a Digital Devil Saga vibe from it.

Of course there’s no point in getting excited until we find out if it’s getting an English release or not. I think it’s got a decent chance. It’s mostly the social games that don’t get brought over (we did get Jet Set Radio on iOS, so here’s hoping)

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Time to borrow my little sister Ipad for the sake of playing this game.T_T

If only they add this to E-shop or at least PSN.

  • Looks like a fun game. The trailer got me interested in it. Definitely getting a DDS vibe outta it. Let see whether or not Sega wants to loclaise it….

And lol at the anti-iOS mob…. This ain even the cash grab social game…

  • Göran Isacson

Part of this intrigues me, mostly the parts where you transform into demons and the general visual mood of the game… but I feel like I have no clue as to how you PLAY it.

  • Demeanor

Wow, looks and sounds boss, strong SMT and DDS vibes there. Localize this and we’ll talk. I have a few doubts about the actual gameplay tho. Playing Chaos Rings atm and it’s quite fun (imo CR >>>>> FFXIII)
