It’s Game Over For Cheating Boyfriends, Catch ‘Em Red Handed On 3DS

By Spencer . January 21, 2013 . 12:49am

D3Publisher developers Adventure Time games for North America, but in Japan they make quirky games where a giant woman in a bikini attacks a city and the Vitamin X otome series. @Simple DL Series: Vol. 7: Assault the Cheating Boyfriend! Caught You Red Handed combines both of their skill sets.

How did D3Publisher turn confronting a cheater into a video game? You play as a girl who is suspicious that her boyfriend is cheating and search his home for evidence. This part is kind of like an adventure game where you search for items.

Got proof? Now it’s time for a confrontation!

This mode sounds kind of like Phoenix Wright since you use evidence to point out contradictions in your boyfriend’s story. The game uses the gyroscopic sensor in an amusing way, you can throw items at your boyfriend by holding L+R and shaking the 3DS.

@Simple DL Series: Vol. 7: Assault the Cheating Boyfriend! Caught You Red Handed has four boyfriends to defeat. Meet the jerks – Masato (23 years old), Seiji (27), Toru (18), and Toshio (?).

Masato, the first boyfriend, you meet in the city where he picks you up with his sociable personality. You unintentionally let your guard down and start dating Masato. Because of your busy schedules you only see each other once a month and the *gasp* you see Masato walking with another woman! Each douchebag has their own story and multiple endings depending on how you fare in the confrontation portion.

@Simple DL Series: Vol. 7: Assault the Cheating Boyfriend! Caught You Red Handed comes out on January 30 in Japan as a 300 yen ($3.35) eShop download.

    Oh Japan, What is this i don’t even…(ʳ ´º㉨º)ʳ(ʳ ´º㉨º)ʳ

    • This is relatively tame compare to stuff like Hatoful BF or School Days XD

      • puchinri

Hatoful Boyfriend is just awesome though. This and School Days are just silly but hilarious. x’D

  • ragingmerifes

I don’t want to have a girlfriend who plays this game and screams “Objection!” out of nowhere everytime I contradict myself. But it is a good original idea.

  • SerendipityX

I would totally play this game, so much win with throwing the items at them. The title made me snicker a little. Oh, Japan. The yellow-haired guy looks so innocent…O_O

  • So it’s like a Gyakuten Saiban game with a female lead. …If somewhat pessimistic.

  • Mithfalath

“You unintentionally let your guard down and start dating Masato.” This is a win statement.

  • Would like to see the MC does something like this:

Lets hold a trial… to expose your cheating BF!

    • TatsuyaKyo

Is that, by any chance, from Danganronpa?

      • Yup. Its a fanart though.

        • TatsuyaKyo

Really? I was convinced it was the real thing.

          • Its more or less “in game footage + added words/photoshop” It looks like the real deal lol.

  • Seink

    Four boyfriends, all cheating……
Not sure if the problem lies in the boyfriends or in the girl herself :p
After this game, many fights may break out with the newly trained detective girls XD.

  • JustThisOne

Guuurl, you got problems if you date four cheating boyfriends in succession.

    • psycho_bandaid

she probably just likes throwing things at people. That and she REALLY should consider a career as a private investigator.

    • amagidyne

There’s a simple explanation for that:

      • JustThisOne

        God, I love the Onion.

  • TatsuyaKyo

This is good and all, but what about a Male version? Where you serve knuckle sandwiches to the douche(s) who NTR’d your girlfriend(s) (and kick him in the nuts for good measure), or alternatively, catch the bi0tch who cheated on you?

    It ain’t fair… orz

    • psycho_bandaid

haven’t you watched any hentai? the male doesn’t confront his girlfriend, ever, he just watches as his girl NTRs him from outside the room with tears streaming down his face (though is oddly still aroused).

      • TatsuyaKyo

Watch? Nope. Read? Oh, believe me, I’ve read a lot. In fact, I don’t know whether to blame the guy for being ignorant, or the girl for allowing herself to get soiled (blackmail or no, she’s gotta stand up for herself, that’s what I think anyway). Though, I have read some where the guy shows some spine. For instance, there is this one where the lead guy teams up with his rival (and his crew) to beat up the fonzies who had ganged on his girlfriend and managed to win her back. Then, there is this Ore Imo doujin; after Manami gets some hot dickings from a nobody and is about to turn to teh dark side, Kyosuke appears out of nowhere and kicks the other guy to another dimension. It’s as awesome as it sounds.

        • MrTyrant

          I like those ones.

        • puchinri

You have to remember though, these are usually some kind of abstract wish fulfillment for someone. I’m always surprised by the number of people that need to get their fill of NTR. (And they take the side of the boyfriend and girlfriend usually, not the cuckolder.)

I think the writing and premise in 95% of them are too ridiculous to take seriously and just crap, but some. . . pretty darn good (in good and bad ending mode).

        • Göran Isacson

… Now I wish more stories ended with someone being kicked into another dimension. Pornos or not, that is a pretty amazing concept.

      • MrTyrant

NTR hentai? most of them are women loving sex with multiple fat-guys and the main character crying for the bitchy heroine. There are few only that are more of a serious nature.

  • Neppygear

I kinda want to play this…

  • Coeurl

I’d play the hell out of this game. Would love a BL edition but that’s just wishful thinking~

  • The last boyfriend looks like something from a bad Harry Potter cosplay…?

    • Can’t unsee O.O

    • MrRobbyM

He looks like a bad cosplay of Harry + Snape O_o

  • CirnoLakes

I don’t care what anyone says. “Crazy” game premises are priceless.

  • Eilanzer

    japan… . . .at least they are creative… . . .i guess (--〆)

  • “Each douchebag has their own story and multiple endings depending on how you fare in the confrontation portion.”

This might be my favorite sentence in a Siliconera article.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

I can only said that i can’t agree more lol.^_^

  • Barking dog

They all look like dicks, no wonder they cheat.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

This is probably one of the interesting title from the simple series lol.
If this game do come here, i would surely get this game. Can’t get enough of shouting Ob….. Cheater i mean.^_^

  • PoweredByHentai

Oh god, that image is too hilarious.

    • Tht part reminds me of the QTE segment of Danganronpa lol.

      Wht Shuraba?

      • PoweredByHentai

Shuraba = 修羅場 = scene of carnage

If you’re familiar with Buddhist mythos, amongst the deities (not really gods, just higher-order beings) are the Shura (修羅), who are sort of enlightened beings with very human-like emotions due to their attachment to the materialistic world.

Asura’s Wrath actually covers this in great detail.

Basically, the Shura are fierce warrior spirits with heightened senses and are generally unruly and warlike. “Shuraba” is often used to describe a scene of carnage or destruction when such beings collide.

Its connotative use here is more akin to “Hell hath no fury like a woman’s wrath.”

  • Xmas Lopez

One of these things is not like the others~ The last bf looks like he was drawn by a completely different person.

  • Phlo

    This is a little depressing.

  • Göran Isacson

On the one hand, snooping through someones apartment for clues is KIIINDA creepy. On the other hand confronting a cheating boyfriend by throwing stuff at him is kinda hilarious. I do wonder what the final product of the two could be… and if any case will be as amazing as the one where you cross-examine a parrot in Phoenix Wright.

    • J_Joestar

Its like a paranoid girlfriend training game!

  • If she’s only seeing him once a month, it’s not too surprising that he’d stray. I mean, come on.
