Xseed Register Web Domains For Killer Is Dead

By Ishaan . January 22, 2013 . 12:30pm

A Kotaku report reveals that Xseed recently registered web domains pertaining to Grasshopper Manufacture’s Killer Is Dead.

Last week, Xseed registered three domains—killerisdead-game, killandlove.com, and loveandkill.com.

Does this mean Xseed are the U.S. publisher for Killer Is Dead? That would be a fantastic scoop for the company, who are typically known for releasing extremely niche or obscure titles, but of late have managed to acquire publishing rights to games owned by Nintendo, such as The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower.

Killer Is Dead has yet to be confirmed for a U.S. release. Japan will see the game sometime this summer. We’ve reached out to Xseed for comment and will update when they get back to us.

XSEED sure has picked up big name titles recently. Good for them!

  • ffboi7

can always count on Xseed to bring over awesome games :D

  • SirRichard

Would be quite the catch for them, to be sure, but now I have to wonder who the Euro publisher would end up being. Rising Star, maybe?

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if that were the case.

    • Julien_N

Given that they published a few of the XSEED published games (Fragile Dreams and Ivy the Kiwy for instance) and also took care of some Grasshopper games (No More Heroes 1&2, Flower Sun and Rain), they should be the most probable publisher.

A suprise can still happen, but RSG is the most likely to publish the game in PAL regions indeed.

On one hand, I’m happy we’re getting it at all, but on the other, this worries me about the prospect of a dub. Correct me if I’m wrong, but besides The Last Story and (likely) Pandora’s Tower, which already had dubs due to the European releases, wasn’t Xseed’s only recent release with an English dub Unchained Blades? This mainly concerns me because games with Suda’s name on them tend to have fantastic dubs (IMO, at least).

  • Spirit Macardi

XSEED to me has become the Funimation of videogames: They’re a small group that brings a bunch of great titles overseas, they typically give them great English voice tracks, and yet they keep the cost low enough for the average consumer.

We need more companies like this.

    • http://www.fogalchemist.com/ caleb1993

Yes we do, but too many people don’t think it’s worth the risk. Which is a terrible attitude, but nonetheless, there needs to be more!

    • Farid Belkacemi

Great English voice tracks… Which games are we talking about here ? The Last Story/Pandora’s Tower dub was managed by NoE. Then, we have Unchained Blades… And I wouldn’t call it a stellar job (from what I’ve heard anyway).

      • Spirit Macardi

Well, first off I said “generally,” which implies that it’s usually true, but not all the time. So they usually dub their own games, but in those cases it was Nintendo’s European branch.

Second, Unchained Blades has Troy Baker, Yuri Lowenthal, Liam O’Brien, Melissa Fahn, Heather Hogan, Jessica Straus, and several other amazing performers. The only one I’d consider questionable is the person who voices Mari, but considering she’s supposed to be emotionless I think that was on purpose.

        • Farid Belkacemi

Sorry, but there’s no “generally” in your post :D

          • Spirit Macardi

Okay, “typically.” Means the same thing in this context though.

It’s late here, so give me a break for screwing up my words >_>

  • DesmaX

Now that would be a surprise.

Having these really popular titles to publish would give them enough power to bring Trails in the Sky SC to the west.

    • Farid Belkacemi

SC is still coming, they don’t need power… Just more people buying the First Chapter :)

  • Tom_Phoenix

Yes, from now on, they will be known for releasing SLIGHTLY less niche or obscure titles. =P

    What a great snag XSEED!

  • Zonic505

Xseed has really been on a roll lately, props if they do manage to bring this to the US.

  • benhofb

Killer is Dead just reminds me so much of Killer 7! <3
I would seriously buy a PS3 just so I could play this game if XSEED brings it over.

    • Interface23

That wasn’t XSEED, That was D3

      • benhofb

Oh snap, my bad. Been a long day…

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

    … !

  • eilegz

excelent news, hopefully this will come soon.

  • z_merquise

XSeed is really on a roll!

I really wish that more and more people support these people. They deserve it.

  • Immortal1

    Thanks, Xseed!
