New Rayman Legends Demo Coming To Wii U Say Ubisoft

By Ishaan . February 8, 2013 . 12:25pm

Rayman Legends for Wii U has been delayed from February to September while Ubisoft work on porting the game to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation. In the meantime, they’ll be providing a new Wii U-exclusive demo for the game “soon”. The publisher posted the following message on its Facebook page in response to complaints regarding the delay:

Thanks for all your feedback regarding Rayman Legends in all of its forms. We have heard you and we will continue to listen. We understand your frustration and that you want to get your hands on the game. We are working with the development team to provide you with a new, exclusive demo for the Wii U soon. Stay tuned for more.

Rayman Legends already has one demo available on the Wii U Nintendo eShop, which is available now.

Dont ask me why, but I find this hilarious.

Its like, “Please dont hurt us, here, take this demo please”

  • KingGunblader

Saw this comment on IGN and it made me laugh:

“I’ve already played a demo for this game on the Wii U eShop, which is the only place said demo is available. Conclusion, Rayman Legends already has an exclusive demo.”

Yes, I’m still butthurt about the delay. Thanks for asking.

  • Shadowman

I’m starting to think Ubisoft is tormenting these people first they delay the game even further and now giving them a demo it not like the wait and bad enough for them.

  • ronin4life

It is hard to believe this is the same UBI that wowed us at e3…

  • XypherCode

I think this kind of response….it’s like they’re screwing with fans. :|
Oh well. xD I just hope some good comes out of this…of course with doubt in my mind. lol

    • Cameron Ward

im surprised they didnt mention that the Wii U is being delayed along with the PS3 and 360 version due to Microsoft’s policy forcing games that are on multi platform having to be released all on the same day. and i also read that the Wii U will still be the superior version

      • ronin4life

I heard about that policy, and Ubi has broken it before. It mentions all games needing simultanious release and even the same content may be required… which FC3 and AC3 don’t comply with(ps3 dlc exclusivity)

Regardless if MS is partially to blame, this was a WiiU exclusive. Ubi publicaly made that promise to all their costumers and Nintendo, not to MS. Ubi still did bad, regardless of any MS restrictions.

      • That can’t apply to downloads.

  • This just makes me want to flip more tables.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

do it I’ll join you, (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

      • I can’t because apparently there is no reasonable way to respond to an emoticon. Don’t ask me! Ask the mods!

  • $29082171

I still don’t get why did they had to delay the Wii-u version as well if it already had a release date of February 26th.

    • Because Ubisoft hates you.

    • Ben Kapferer

Probably because Microsoft can’t stand getting a release after one of their competitors does.

  • Wake

I posted this in OT but I might as well repost it here.

So the Rayman devs got screwed too.

Yeah. That’s the reason why the game is delayed. Damn.

Edit: Just wanted to add this.

Here’s a bit of peace of mind for Wii U owners.

With Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge and Rayman Legends going multiplat, questions were raised on whether other Nintendo exclusives were going to follow suit. Kamiya talks about how it’s all Nintendo’s decision since they funded the Platinum games being made.

    • Göran Isacson

Sorry, but all your links turned into dead links- not sure why though. Think you can summarize what they were all about?

      • Wake

        Fixed it.

        • Göran Isacson

Thanks, Man that is a horrible situation to end up in… makes one wonder why. It sure seemed like this game was going to get released on Wii U first, it got coverage on game conventions and ads and everything… maybe Nintendo just couldn’t pay as much as MS and Sony could to ensure they got it first?

      • ronin4life

I can take a guess myself based on all the info I have gathered:
        1) The devs crammed for 6 months to make release and were just recently told their work would be delayed for multi platform release. Imagine working overtime for months and it all have been a waste, including lots of time apart from family(side note: I heard that the guy who posted this stuff on miiverse left Ubi because of this fiasco, though that was stated by a fellow internet commentor)
        2) The wiiu one was definitively delayed based 100% on ps3/360 release timing(thought he may be referencing the MS simultanious release requirements…)
        3)Kamiya tweeted:
“Nintendo is funding these games. We are the devs and they are the publishers. So if you want B2 on ps360, ask Nintendo”(well, not word for word but the gist)

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Because this totally makes everything okay.

  • John Esteves

    -1 Sale

  • Jrocy247

“We heard your complaints and we know how frustrated you Wii U owners, so in order to make it up to you, We’ll just give you another demo instead of setting the game back to release on the 28th, happy trolling”
Wow Ubisoft……How generous of you, this will surely solve everything, you’d be willing to bow down to PS3/360 fans, but Wii U owners are no importance to you -_-…

  • Shuga Suenaga

    im downloading nothing r.r

  • Spirit Macardi

How about instead of another demo you just release the Wii U version and then release the other ports later once they’re done? You’d lose no money on it, the console would have a temporarily exclusive game to boost sales, and it would make those waiting for the ports all the more eager to snag them up when they arrive.

  • wharcraff

I would be kinda pissed at this. But everyone should know this doesn’t set a precedent. Ubisoft is a pretty big publisher, who more than likely approached nintendo for developing for their new system and then got the word from on high to multiplatfrom that game. Platinum and any developers that don’t self publish will most likely not have this issue.

  • So, what happens after that new exclusive demo had been played 30 times?! Don’t think it will tide people over until September. That’s kinda harsh, especially as the game is already finished on WiiU.
