Nintendo have announced Flipnote Studio 3D for the Nintendo 3DS, via a Nintendo Direct Mini presentation, which you can watch below. The application will allow you to create animations using the Nintendo 3DS, complete with moving pictures and sound.
Flipnote Studio 3D will allow you create animations using three layers and six colours, and will let you export your animations as .AVI and .GIF files for sharing. The app will be released for free via the Nintendo eShop this Summer.
To go along with the Flipnote Studio 3D app, Nintendo will be rolling out a service dubbed Flipnote Gallery: Friends, which is a service that can be used by you and those on your Nintendo 3DS friends list to share, rate and download each other’s creations. The service will be free-to-use.
A separate service, Flipnote Gallery: World, will allow you to do the same things, except with other Flipnote Studio 3D users from all over the world. This will be a paid service with a “small monthly fee” that will be used to keep the Flipnote servers running. A free 30-day trial will be available at launch.
Additionally, after the free trial period expires, Nintendo will allow free access to the Flipnote Gallery: World service on select dates. Furthermore, if your Flipnotes receive consistently high ratings on the service, you may be allowed to not pay the next month’s subscription fee.
Meanwhile, the FlipNote Studio community service for Nintendo DSi on the Hatena webpage will be closed on May 31st. More information on the new galleries for the 3DS and their features will be shared at a later date.
