Zen Studios, the indie developer behind Zen Pinball, are bringing a new 2D real-time physics-based strategy game to Xbox Live Arcade, titled CastleStorm. While the game has a single-player campaign, it also has split-screen versus and co-op modes.

Your primary objective in CastleStorm is to use the power of a medieval era ballista and launch an assortment of weapons like Morningstars, Apple Grenades, Homing Eagles, and flying sheep to defeat an onslaught of enemies trying to capture your flag and destroy your castle. You can also train and deploy a ground-based units like swordsmen, knights and axe throwers.

The game lets you construct your own castles, too. Using a tower construction editor, you can create your own castles to use in battle. Depending on the kind of castle you make, you’ll be able to use different kinds of troops and resources during battle. Additionally, there are multiple paths to victory, including capturing the flag, destroying the enemy’s castle or another objective altogether.

CastleStorm is headed to Xbox Live Arcade this Spring, with releases on other digital platforms, including the Nintendo eShop, to follow. Take a look at the game’s multiplayer mode in the trailer above.
