UFO Interactive released PSP dungeon crawler Elminage Original on PlayStation Network last month. Last week, they released a version 1.01 patch that fixes the following issues:

  • Localization fixes throughout entire game.
  • UI bugs fixed.
  • Added custom BGM selection during gameplay.

I heard many bad things about the English version. If I hear the opposite due to this patch, I may consider buying this game.

It’s a great game with a buggy translation. Don’t know if that changes your mind or not, but I think the script was well done. By the way: THERE ARE STILL ERRORS. Oh, silly UFO. They fixed most of them, but so far, there’s still three.
-’You touched it!’ – when an appraisal fails
-The ‘you have no music’ warning is in Japanese
      -’Idenftification’ in every shop menu

One of the people who hates EO’s UFO localization is the guy who’s working on the XSEED localization for Class of Heroes 2. Forgot the name. He says that they did a veeeery sloppy job in many areas, that they left a lot of things in Japanese while breaking some areas in the second half of the game.

I do wanna play an Elminage game due to Elminage III’s whole BGM and Character Profile customization. I do like that kind of custom role playing feel in my gaming.

Xseed has nothing to do with Class of Heroes 2 localization that’s Vic and the guys at Monkey Paw. UFO has long been known to release oddball gems from time to time with bare bones localizations.

And you’ll find a lot of folks who think Vic Ireland complaining about anyone else’s localizations is a case of ‘pot, meet kettle’.

Ah, yes. Vic was his name! And yeah, I kinda also had that impression from him.

“You touched it” is correct. The implication from the original Wizardry games was your bishop accidentally touches the item. IIRC if it was cursed it would curse them at that time ,too.

Does that means they fixed the whole Dwarf-Gnome-Fairy-Hotlet thing? (Plus other things)

It says “Version 1.01 Patch” not “Miracle Cure-All”. Meaning, they just started QA testing the game… After launch…

The major localization problems were in the parts that required coding — I.E. the parts the Japanese devs did.
