Is There An Alien Invasion Happening In This Killer Is Dead Trailer?

By Ishaan . April 1, 2013 . 10:07am

Grasshopper Manufacture have shared a new Japanese trailer for Killer is Dead. Like the previous trailers for the game, this one’s subtitled so you’ll be able to understand what’s going on. I’m… not quite sure what else to say about it—I can’t even tell what’s going on. Watch the trailer below:

Killer Is Dead will be released in North America this Summer for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 by Xseed. Deep Silver will be releasing the game in Europe and Oceania.

    This looks quite cool actually.

  • Spirit Macardi

This game is looking like Evangelion now, except without the emo and with characters who are actually interesting.

In other words, it’s looking like the Eva Rebuild films x3

  • HerosLight

Vivienne reminds me of Sylvia (NMH).

  • JustThisOne

Daaayum. Thousand arms Buddha motif is beautiful.

    Oh and uh.. yeah. Aliens.

Just like every game made by Suda 51 I have no idea what the hell is going on.

    And i love that feeling.

  • Jake Deerberg

PLEEEAASE tell me the game will have classical music like this! That’ll be awesome!

    • xzeldax3

If it’s anything like the Catherine soundtrack, then I will love it immensely.

Killer is Dead and so is your link.

So Vivienne Squall is pretty much Sylvia from NMH + Asura from Asura’s Wrath, but with guns. I can dig that.

Also, couldn’t help but find the part where Mika is pounding on Mondo’s chest and there’s a heart monitor above them humorous.

  • Göran Isacson

Oho- so many-arms lady is Mondos boss (I thought that was Bryan), they seem to be pushing the theme that working as an Executioner can take you uncomfortably close to the people you’re supposed to be hunting (nothing we haven’t seen so far of course but it’s nice to see some depth), the side-kick girl has a mini-game (?) where she can revive a fallen Mondo, classic music keeps being a thing, Bryan has a hilarious hawaii-shirt and if the last few seconds are any indication, Mondo isn’t QUITE as suave as we have hitherto been lead to believe.

I do wonder how “killer versus sexy monster” will turn out… most likely it will feature a female boss-enemy, since the first trailer had the sound-boss and this trailer had a giant boss. All who are shown to be defeated, which is kinda anti-climactic I guess?

I think early on, it was said that Bryan owns the company, but she’s his direct boss or something?

Also curious about that scene that debunks completely suave Mondo. (It did look like the woman he was shown with in the first trailer too, so it had to be right after or before?).

      • Göran Isacson

Ah, so a subordinate to Bryan, but superior to Mondo? That makes sense. Bryan does seem to be in a position of seniority considering it seems like the dying executioner (possibly the same one holding Mondos assistant hostage?) isn’t that upset with Bryan over… well, presumably ordering him dead.

Indeed, does make one wonder if that may be a “wrong ending” induced by the gigolo system (balance your flirting well or burn bridges) or something written into the main story.

I felt like it made sense to me.

    Yup, I’m losing my mind.

  • Sexy monster indeed.

  • Fr33Kingdom

I’m in love. I never noticed how it seems to have a lot in common visually with shadows of the damned. And the end of that trailer reminded me of Catherine! And the presentation and voice over dramatics combined with the music aahhhhgfhfhsfhds perfect. It reminds me of something i can’t place.

I want more of games like those that carry a unique style, gameplay and attitude, without fear of putting people off or being too out there. I seriously love this game already. And it’s kind of sad that we don’t get more of these…they make a lot of other games seem bland in comparison.

  • z_merquise

So it’s confirmed that Ryoutaro Okiayu voiced Mondo Zappa. That’s pretty cool.

I read that the stages in the game are structured similar to a TV series with each “episodes” that are self-contained. So in one episode, Mondo would confront a criminal who steals “sound” and this one got aliens who stole earth (maybe planet Earth). Doesn’t make any sense but at the same time I love the weirdness.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Lol what was that? Pure awesome Nippon craziness, that’s what!

  • rainelee

I don’t know what I watched but I seem to like it. First day buy. :D
