Region Free Multiplayer Headed To Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Next Week

By Ishaan . April 10, 2013 . 10:03am

As previously reported, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U is getting an update patch that will allow the game to be played without a TV on the Wii U GamePad.

This same patch will also remove online multiplayer region restrictions and allow U.S. and European players to play with each other.

Capcom announced this morning that the patch will be released on April 16th. [Update: Exact timings are available here.]

Finally the USA and Europe can make love together , i mean slay monsters ! :P

    • Is there a difference between the two? >.>

      • ShadowDivz

Depends, do you often orgasm when you see the “quest cleared” message appear?
If the answer is yes, then no there is no difference. xD

  • $39420547

    more people to hunt with!!!

  • idrawrobots

Oh that’s right, you call it a Well-Done Steak in the mouth.

  • Tycho Grouwstra

crap, I’m on the Japanese 3DS version :(

  • pure_white

What about the 3DS Online Patch? :c

  • Brimfyre

Hallelujah! I might have a reason to pick this up now.

  • konsama

So they really listened to people and added play from controller. Nice.

Next would be to allow 3DS to play online MH by itself. PLEASE CAPCOM!

Or at least give the option to trade guild cards with far away online friends and not just through streetpass.

  • Strid

Yay, more people to super pound me (I’m fairly OK with that).

    • Ferofax

      Super pound from behind!

      …okay, that sounded very wrong.

  • SetzerGabbiani

This is what I’ve been waiting for. I hope the text will be more readable too. Every Wii U game, new or port, has to have the option for off screen play imo.

  • Coeurl

If this applies to the 3DS as well, i’ll go pick the game up right now. That’s the only thing keeping me from buying it

  • SilentMC

Well here’s to hoping this includes 3DS local multiplayer. It sometimes sucks having a US 3DS in Australia

    • Ferofax

There’s no mention of the 3DS anywhere on that patch, so that makes it unlikely.

  • cool I guess I can finally play with my friends in the US

  • TWE

I don’t recall the exact details, but the problem with online for the 3DS lies in the NNID system which at the moment isn’t supported by the 3DS. This why online play is only possible when linked up with the WiiU. I’m thinking the next thing Nintendo will do is release another iteration of the 3DS (3DSi?) that has NNID in the place of FCs rather than patching/fixing/whatever for the current 3DS and XL.

  • Not exactly Region free if you can’t play with people world wide. (Japanese 3ds’s can’t play with North american or european)

Make it region free and then you can call it region free.
