<< Last week’s software sales chart

Last week was another slow week for new releases in Japan, with hardware sales dropping across the board. A strong line-up managed to keep Nintendo 3DS sales healthy at close to 47,000 units, but everything else dropped below the 15k mark.

Meanwhile, the top-20 software chart was comprised primarily of a mix of popular sellers and recent releases. The only new game in the top-20 was FuRyu’s Cardfight!! Vanguard: Ride to Victory, which sold 44,538 copies in its first week.

Next week’s sales chart should be a little more exciting. We’ll see first-week sales for Nintendo’s Tomodachi Collection: New Life, Capcom’s Monster Hunter Frontier G, Sega’s 7th Dragon 2020-II and Namco Bandai’s Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3.

The top-20 chart for the week was as follows:

When I saw the title of the article all I could think of was the Venom album, Calm Before the Storm. That aside, I’m glad Luigi’s Mansion is doing well.

  • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Looks like psyqualia was strong with Aichi Sendo. Go vanguard.

With the blue Bomber long gone, the Green Bomber rises….

If they made a Dragon Quest VIII HD Remake it would most likely outsell Dragon Quest X on WiiU

    • Solomon_Kano

Outselling DQX on Wii U wouldn’t be an accomplishment. Like, at all.

I think Animal Crossing ”TOTAL SALES” are wrong , this week 357,959 and last week shows 3,025,368

      Fixed!

      • SirRichard

Unfortunately, you’ve put the total in One Piece’s slot instead. The sanctity of the chart is ruined!

        • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

          OK, now fixed. @_@

  • Solomon_Kano

According to a tweet from SCEJ last week, they’ve apparently got a shortage of Vitas at retail right now with people reporting a number of stores to be low on or out of stock. Wonder if we’ll see sales pick up once that’s solved and, if so, how much?

Anyway, I’m glad that Luigi’s Mansion has been selling a consistent amount. Hm. If he can keep the pace up, that’ll be another 100k every two weeks. 10 weeks to a mil in Japan if he doesn’t drop? Come on, Luigi! You can do it!

They mailed a press release out about that, too. I looked their PR and only two of the colours are sold out—the red and the blue models. That sort of thing is pretty common. Various colours sell out all the time.

I would imagine they’ll try to get stock of both those colours back in time for Golden Week. That’s when holiday boost should give everything a bit of a bump.

      • Solomon_Kano

Ah. Yea, hopefully they’ll restock in time for Golden Week. Looking forward to seeing how much of an effect that has for the system.

        • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Yeah, very curious to see what this Golden Week looks like. Feels like both Nintendo and Sony are squandering opportunities, though. Nintendo has nothing new for Wii U to take advantage of during Golden Week and Sony has nothing new for Vita…

          • Tiduas

This year’s golden week are mostly happening on weekends, so there won’t be that much of a holiday. My school for example only have two days free because of the golden week, and they are normally quite nice when it comes to giving us days off. It will defintely be a better sales week than normal, that I’m sure of. But I still wouldn’t keep the hopes up too much

*I hope I’m wrong after this weeks sales though, it was quite depressing :( *

  • sfried

What’s this? Luigi’s Mansion a surprise hit? Next-Level must’ve really knocked it out of a the ballpark.

  • z_merquise

Glad to see Muramasa still selling week after week. I wonder if the game would still remain in top 10 or at least in this sales chart.

  • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

So sad to see the PSV fall from grace. Again. I really thought it had finally found its footing staying at 20k+ units weekly~.

    • http://linkapics.tumblr.com/ Linka

Considering everything basically dipped down, I think it’s less that and more just a bad week for sales.

  • Göran Isacson

Soul Sacrifice actually rose in the ranks… though how much of that is due to it’s own credit and how much is due to a slow week with not a lot of attractive titles is anyones guess. 1.5 HD Remix isn’t exactly tearing up charts though- wonder if it’s current sales are within expectations or if SE’s dissapoint.

And then there’s Muramasa… over 60 K sold. Wonder how well it sold for the Wii, and if they’ve made enough sales of the current version to at least make their budget back.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

KH HD remake is currently number one HD remake in term of sales. I believe, this is going to please S-E here.^_^(Unless they have the crazy expectation again though.T_T)

      • Göran Isacson

Ha ha yeah, I HOPE they had realistic sales expectations and aren’t considering the death of the franchise just because it didn’t sell in millions and millions of copies.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Luigi Mansion finally reached 1 mil globally(Haven’t add Europe too.^_^) Congratz to Next Level company there.^_^
While, Cardfight Vanguard, hearing from the japanese gamer, seems to be plagued with glitches which i think will affect the sales next week.
Next week, with all the big gun coming out will be very interesting day.^_^

  • Theofratus ‘Geese’ Lester

And which one of you idiots say the Nintendo 3DS would fail?

    Yeah, that’s what I thought.
