Gust is making changes to the Atelier battle system by upping the number of party members to six. In Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky characters are split into front and rear rows. Characters can do support attacks if you have energy in the meter in the bottom right. Monsters still show up on fields and if you strike them on the field you can attack first in battle.

Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky has two alchemists as protagonists and they can both create items during combat. If you use the Double Draw skill they will use items one after another. Items are powered up when you do a Double Draw and under certain conditions you can make special items.

Other party members have special attacks with flashy attacks.

  • AnimeLeirus .

Now this is getting interesting. With six members in battle, we’re looking at a bigger roster. Hopefully!

    • Kevadu

My rooster is plenty big enough, thank you very much.

      • raymk

I’m coming by your house for some free eggs.

      • AnimeLeirus .

xD I just fix it, now what?… Hahahahahaha!!!

  • Joshua Myers

    Awesome!!

  • https://twitter.com/RaiohV Raioh

I’m just gonna say what I already said on Twitter: Sleia is forever female Griffith for me. That face and hair is way too similar to be a coincidence. All I’m waiting for now is a playable female Guts~

    • Nightmesh

I thought something was off about her design. I like it but it felt weird. I totally get why now.

    • puchinri

That’s the greatest, but now I also want Casca to complete that trio (when femme!Guts happens).

      • https://twitter.com/RaiohV Raioh

Male Casca and Female Guts. God honestly I just want a next gen Berserk game xD

        • puchinri

Oh goodness, I do too (or one with female Casca and female Guts and yuri route. . .).

But a next gen Berserk game in general would be lovely.

  • Sebastian Lothian

I prefer their battle systems when they have five-six characters involved.

  • Nightmesh

Reifar is close but he’s just not as smexy as Juris.

  • Jesse

It seems the official romanizations for the new characters should be “Awin Sidelet”, “Threia Hazelgrimm”, and “Reyfer Luckberry”.

    • raymk

No seems to it, it those names really are the official one’s.

  • puchinri

Looking and sounding pretty sweet so far. I can’t wait so see the full cast~.

  • revenent hell

Hmmm ive never been an Atelier fan but im really tempted to get this game.
I cant explain why because I really doont know what is so tempting about it to me……but its like everytime I read something about it I mentally put money aside for it…….

    • Alexander Aubert

i used to be just like that, ah…. youth

      • revenent hell

        Haha, I’m actually almost 30 :D
Sorry about the late reply, I honestly thought I already did… it’s the Alzheimer’s ya’ know…

        • Alexander Aubert

          actually i’m still 15

no prob, sometime i did that ” i thought i already did” :)

  • raymk

As someone below said correct the names, it was confusing enough seeing it on other sites. Also he’s a clearer scan of “Threia and you can see her name in the scan.

    • MrTyrant

Man i love this girl design already. Going for her ending D:

  • Letiumtide

Yes! Finally a battle system the size of Suikoden games. I’ve been yearning for 6 person battle for awhile. I’m so excited for this game now.

  • Albert Calderon

    Is this getting localized?

    • Ladius

We can only hope the boycott and lack of marketing didn’t harm Ayesha’s sales to the point of making Tecmo Koei reconsider the series’ localization. It would be a shame to see this game stranded in Japan, it’s looking positively awesome.

  • LETS PRAY FOR LOCALIZATION

    Its looking great!
Honestly i can’t wait till my copy arrives lol.

The thing I’ve loved most about the Atelier series so far on PS3 (never played any of the earlier titles on previous consoles) is the emphasis on Alchemy and it’s relation to the protagonist and the story. No save the world stuff. Just believable life circumstances. The only knock would be that they’ve been very light on the Battle element of RPG’s. It seems as if Gust is going IN this time to bring us a comprable battle system, and taking influence from Suikoden is a plus for me.

    • puchinri

Which is also something I adore about the other and earliest titles. This titles seems like a good mid-ground both ways (in regard to plot and battle system).

I do hope that they’ll make another one in the near future that’s a bit brighter (tone and palette-wise) while still using a larger battle system but keeps the essentials of the series.

  • Nitraion

That cowboy man really remind me of Wild ARMS lol
Gun looks plain but it can shoot laser later on XD
Hope they learn more special attacks rather than traditional 5 attacks(4 specials+1 super)…. maybe the specific pair attacks like Xillia is nice too…
lol i am asking to much… but from screenshot escha and logy have pair attacks….

and they always together, they couple or something? remind of atelier iris 3

  • EtherealEarth

Ohhhhhh! Mana Khemia-like party system. I like it XD

  • Ladius

This game looks more promising at every new reveal, I really hope Tecmo Koei and NISA will localize it as they did with Ayesha, Hidari is also doing a wonderful job, Threia is one of the best jrpg female characters I have ever seen character design-wise, just as Ayesha’s Keithgriff was one of the best male heroes in a long while.

  • Alexander Marquis Starkey

I thought this game was going use the Dynasty Warriors Engine. I figured they were going with an Action RPG approach but this still looks turn based…nothing wrong with turn based, but that piece of information really caught my ear.

  • puchinri

I am really loving all the designs. I mean, everyone in Ayesha left quite the impression and I adored those designs, but these are just as stellar.

    • raymk

      I agree as well.

  • http://ryuz4ki57inenglish.wordpress.com/ Thomas FROEHLICHER

    Finally… snipe has come :)

    • Damarius Wingfield

      *Cocks sniper rifle*……Awaiting orders.

  • pimpalicious

Nice, the three member set up from the last four games(maybe more? I started with Rorona) was getting old.

  • Mike Pureka

Now we’re talking. Remind me again why it has taken us this long to get BACK to the battle system they created for Mana Khemia? I mean really. It was GREAT THEN. Why did we take a huge leap backwards for the Arland series? =/

  • artemisthemp

For some reason, did I think HDN, when the first picture was shown

  • TWE

I’m hoping they don’t go DLC crazy with the double attack feature.
