Sony have officially announced Gran Turismo 6, slated for release this holiday on the PlayStation 3. The new game will feature new cars and tracks, as well as an overhauled user interface, Sony say.

Update: A demo for Gran Turismo 6 will be available this July, Sony have confirmed.

The full car line-up will be over 1,200 and will include cars from Gran Turismo 5. 33 tracks will be present in the game, with 71 different layouts available. One of the new tracks will be the UK’s Silverstone Circuit. New cars and tracks will also be added to the game via DLC in the future.

“Enhancements and improvements also extend to a much-improved course maker function, which will provide several kilometers of gorgeous scenery, including the magnificent backdrop of Andalucía,” Sony’s announcement reads. “The course maker will also include a new GPS data feature, which will increase the freedom of track creation in the game.”

Finally, Sony say that Gran Turismo 6 will also feature connectivity with other devices, although they haven’t mentioned just which devices these will be. More news on the game will be shared at this year’s E3 and Gamescom events.

Hopefully at E3 for the PS4 they reveal in a montage that GT6 will be hitting PS4 as well (or either GT6 will see a slightly delayed release to ready a PS4 version).

Hyped to see what other features this excellently kept secret game will have. Looks gorgeous.

Probably they don’t want to mess up with Drive Club Release

Well, at least they’re keeping the pattern for with two GT games for each generation of playstation consoles.

I found GT 5 to be slow – both in the performance of the navigation and in the sense of speed while driving. I have high hopes that they’ve learned some from GT 5 and this will be a better, more refined, ride all the way around.

Agreed. 30 second load times = no buy

5 was disappointing, although it wasn’t all that surprising.

Considering how 2 and 4 improved from their prequels, I’m sure they have.

gt6 will be more easily made for ps3 now that they have the engine….they are already working on gt7 for ps4

Watch 80% of the cars from GT5 still be standard cars…..*smh* this is why people went to Forza…Mind you I’m still hoping GT6 will rock my socks.

Come on guys, I really miss Mid Field. That shitty sleeper turn I still have to master. Always too slow or too fast when I try to drift it. :T
