999 For iOS Will Be Localized Into English

image Aksys brought a little surprise during our meeting, an English localized version of Smart Sound Novel: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. Spike Chunsoft released this in Japanese just a few weeks ago and Aksys will publish the visual novel in English.

Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors for iOS use the same localization Aksys made for the Nintendo DS version. However, the iOS version does not have the escape the room puzzles. Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors for iOS just has the story plus a Virtue’s Last Reward timeline so it’s easier to jump between story branches.

“However, the iOS version does not have the escape the room puzzles.”

    And there goes that purchase…

    • Lumi

BUT it has the timeline jump, and probably better graphics. If they port it to Android I’ll purchase it again because I want to see how they handle the plot-relevant bits in escape rooms.

    • Odd too because I think the puzzles would work great on an iPad/iPhone.

      • Sergio BriceƱo

It’s the IPad/IPhone gamers that don’t work with the puzzles.

awesome cuz i can’t find the DS version anywhere

    No puzzles?
    How does that works?
Will they say”after a puzzle you wont see we…”XD

  • Rini11

    So no Android:(

  • artemisthemp

I would buy this version, but sadly iOS stuff don’t work on Android.

I think everyone is wondering how this game would work. On neogaf, a person is playing it, and they said a recap of the escape room dialogue is given. But no split screen or anything is there.

I hope they kept the elevator scene. You know which one I’m talking about.

  • creid8

I hope they fix that plot error towards the end of the game…

    • Jabberwock

What plot error? I didn’t really notice anything wrong.

      • creid8

It’s pretty spoilery. At the end, they flash back to something that happened near the beginning. At some point they had to change the event in the beginning, but didn’t change it in the flashback as well.

        • Jabberwock

If you’re talking about what I think you are, I did notice it but it was a non-issue for me. It was something lost in translation – in Japanese it worked on both a visual and auditory level, in English the latter isn’t true. The way they handled it worked fine for me.

Puzzle or not I will be getting this. Just hope they kept those innuendo filled puzzle dialogues XD

  • Zoozbuh

Soooo… it’s just a well-made english visual novel for iOS? Actually I still might get this version 8D Also, a couple of my friends thought the puzzles just broke up the story and weren’t that great, so this version might actually be more appealing to some people.
