Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS is slated for release in 2014.

    Hoping for Rosalina or Midna.
I would have said “Well it’s pretty unlikely, those characters aren’t so popular”
    But um
    Wiifit Trainer

    • Ixbran

considering how well Wii Fit sells, they have reasons to include her. Plus it wouldn’t be Nintendo if they dint do something unexpected. I see Wii Fit Trainer on par with R.O.B. and Mr.Game&Watch. Someone cooky and silly, but still effective and fun to use.

      • endril

Yeah I’m not arguing that she’s a bad choice for the game or anything, I think she’s cool.
But I don’t think anybody is going to buy Smash because they love Wiifit so much.

        • Slayven19

Naw I think she’ll get a few people to buy it, its not like ROB or Game & watch were really any different and I’m almost sure no one bought the game just cause of them.

    • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

      Rosalina WUT THE FLYING ****

    • O_O Master Clueless

Hope Palutena makes the cut too.

      • J_Joestar

she is already in a Final Smash (although we know Pit is getting revamped to some extent so she might not be there anymore).
Phosphora would be better (with Viridi backing her up)

  • Byas

So many funny pictures that it’s hard to comment on just a few. :P
But I guess Link looking at machinist Link, Nintendog’s Bowser and the characters practicing Wii Fit takes the prize.

    • SerendipityX

Pikachu imitating the nintendog is too cute to be forgotten!

      • J_Joestar

reminds me of the new Pokemon amie they are putting in X&Y.

  • Muffum

The only newcomer to have 3DS screens is Mega Man.

So, safe to assume Villager and Wii Fit Trainer are only in the Wii U version? They did say the two versions would have the same amount of characters; they didn’t say they’d have the exact same characters.

    • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

no Sakurai said both games will have same cast but different stages

      • Muffum

“The total number of characters [in the 3DS version] is the same as the Wii U version, but the stages will be completely different.”

Unless he’s elaborated elsewhere, this is exactly what he’s said on the matters of the respective casts.

  • HerosLight

I’m glad Pit was upgraded to look more like how he was in Kid Icarus Uprising.

    • Raltrios

So far I’m thinking he’ll be my main. I don’t have Brawl so I never got to use him much, but I love KI:U with a passion.
Also hoping he has more weapon-based attacks. Knuckle Staff seems like an easy one for a regular smash attack, and perhaps claws for an aerial attack.
But what would REALLY make my millennium is if he takes a leaf out of Gilgamesh’s book and uses the Gate of Babylon with all 128 weapons as his Final Smash :D

      • J_Joestar

        I’d expect Great Sacred Treasure.

        • Raltrios

It is certainly the more likely (and less plagiarizing) option, but a man can dream, can’t he?

  • Farid Belkacemi

The Mega Man artwork is awesome !

  • SerendipityX

XD at Link trying to stab Wii fit Trainer “ANNND STREETCH!” trolololol

    • komiko12

Wii Fit Trainer is just awesome. Heh.
Look at how graceful and fabulous she is.

  • rurin

All these screenshots just make me laugh…
But I actually like how this is turning out xD
At the same time, I like the colors of the Wii U version better; I don’t really like the black outlines of the characters in the 3DS version

  • Virevolte

Villager seems surprisingly fun to play.

  • Virevolte

I wonder if the “new form” of Mewtwo is to be expected. ^^”

    • MrJechgo

Hope so, because Mewtwo’s removal in Brawl was jarring.

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Game Freak jokingly asked if people wanted to see him in Smash during the Pokémon developer roundtable yesterday. They said no guarantees but that they’re always talking with Sakurai about which characters to include.

  • http://youtube.com/user/Chubunater Chubunato

I’m loving everything about this especially Megaman and New Bowser design

  • XiaomuArisu

Am I the only one who thinks that Mario looked better in brawl?
    His outfit looked more real

    • Vyleon

Seems like ssb4 will have more of a cartoony art style; easing up on details and having more saturated colors.

      • XiaomuArisu

What a pity….SSB is one of the best looking Nintendo games

        • Vyleon

SSB games always have a cohesive art style and the characters mesh well
with one another, so maybe this new style is used to accommodate the
          newcomers.

    • KingRuff

The colors in Brawl were all faded and washed out. I prefer having the characters with their actual coloring. Personally I believe Mario should never look realistic.

  • ZEROthefirst

I’m surprised at how nice the 3DS version looks, although I shouldn’t be too surprised since I said the same thing about MH3U. I never expected them to look horrible, but I didn’t think they’d turn out that nice.

  • Crevox

No comment on that first villager screenshot?… I guess it was just me…

  • gamefreak86

    A copy of each please!

  • MrJechgo

No Yoshi? Really? They add 7 of the 8 original regular characters from SSB 64 and forget Yoshi? Come on now… Ironically enough, Yoshi was announced pretty late for Brawl too.

    • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

Yoshi wasn’t in the first one so calm down

      • Solomon_Kano

What? Yoshi was most definitely in Smash on N64.

      • KingRuff

Really? Someone has never played the first Smash before.

        • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

          Talking about Trailer of Brawl

  • pressstart

Megaman and the Villager are too quiet :( Anyway, hope the Villager has a female skin too!

    • piichan

I second that. I’d love to play the villager but as a girl.

    • Draparde

Im hoping this time around the alternate colors go abit deeper for some characters. (like links other outfits, marios other powers ect) for more varied alt colors.

i doubt it will happen though.

      • J_Joestar

Maybe it should go into your system’s saved data to search for ACNF and copy your character’s appearance from it?

        • Draparde

          That would be pretty awesome.
and i could see the same thing working for, say. if they included the Tactician from fire emblem awakening.

  • Haseyo

Villager is already going to be my main. I love the strange characters that just don’t seem to belong in a game. I’ll end up using everyone as always.

Definitely getting both versions. Smash on the go? I can dig it.

    • Tylor Boreas Makimoto

Pit and Wii Fit Girl look to be mine.

    • http://takopako.tumblr.com takopako

agreed. those silly characters that dont usually fight make for the best characters.

  • Vash bane

liking the shade with the 3ds version :)

  • Virevolte

That screen made me freeze and think about some kind of weird romantic ambiance..

    http://storage.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/screen104.jpg

    - One day, we’ll live in there Pikachu.
    - Pika pika !

  • KingGunblader

I like the more colourful look. Especially on 3DS. Looks so good. :D

  • Jesse Torres

This game is going to be lots of fun.

  • ivanchu77

I hope the online is good this time, in the last game it was absolute shit

  • Testsubject909

    Villager scares me…

Megaman. I need to borrow you and your Metal Blades for safety…

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Villager: I just want to talk, Megaman.

You haven’t been reading my letter!

    • http://s1.zetaboards.com/Espada_of_Alexandria/index/ konpon568

Villager: Just let me in and let it happen, Fox. It will all be over soon.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

        hahahaha, phht hahaha

  • AuraGuyChris

Out of everyone, DK and Fox look even more detailed than in Brawl. Justified, as they’re furred characters.

  • http://www.hamstapowah.com/ Zaron

Is it bad that I sort of like the look of the 3DS version more…?

    • http://s932.photobucket.com/ usagi_san

No, I feel the same. With the WiiU version sort of knew what to expect. With the 3DS one, you wouldn’t know what to expect but it turned out fine.

      • AuraGuyChris

Only problem I have with the 3DS version is that their faces don’t have that much expression…or at all. Look at Fox kicking in the air.
        EVERYONE IS MEGA MAN.

        • http://s932.photobucket.com/ usagi_san

True. Look at DK’s face on the Pokemon stage! :D It just a small gripe, nevertheless.

Well, Mega Man is just that influential, isn’t he? :D

  • Raltrios

Show us the Fire Emblem representatives already! Is Marth returning? Will Chrom or Lucina join the fray? Or better yet, my waifu Cordelia as a land-based lancer? That’d be awesome. Smash has enough swords as it is.

    • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

      Marth is secret character
Secret Character do not get revealed. They stay hidden on the main site. Only Veterans, Starter Characters and Newcomers are revealed.

  • http://twitter.com/Nates4Christ Nate

They better add more b button combo’s. In melee they added the b attacks. I was really disappointing in the lack of upgrades from melee to brawl so I’d hope they add some moves. Maybe a slant b attack or an aerial side ways b attack. Just something.

    • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

      not possible

  • fireemblembeast

I wish they’d give an option to turn the outlines off on the 3DS… Oh well, maybe I’ll have a Wii U by then. I’m just glad they have two versions so no one feels forced to get a Wii U.

    • http://s1.zetaboards.com/Espada_of_Alexandria/index/ konpon568

The outlines have an utility. It isn’t some stylistic art technique that’s just thrown in, you know. Even Sakurai explained why he did it enough times!

      • fireemblembeast

All I heard was that it makes them easier to see on the screen…I really don’t mind; I was just wondering.

  • 657rod

WTF have I just seen!!! If you know what I mean.

  • Solomon_Kano

    Fox chilling with Rush. Yes.

  • https://twitter.com/BinksFrost Binks5

that pikachu and kirby screenshot is so cute, im looking forward to seeing what shape kirby takes when he swallows wii fit trainer.

  • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Pikachu, get your grubby paws off Samus!

    • http://s1.zetaboards.com/Espada_of_Alexandria/index/ konpon568

He says that he had his eyes and paws on her from the start. And that “why should I quit now?”

  • vileBrenman

personally I like the bold outline design they went with the 3ds version.

  • Exalkin

I think Megaman should have a move stealing technique, so he steal Kirby’s. The uselessness would be hilarious

  • Musashi234

That Villager man something about that look in his eyes says he’s going to kill us all……..
