Pokémon X And Pokémon Y Make It Easier To Find Other Players To Play With

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y make it easier for players to connect with one another using the Internet than previous games, the games’ developer, Game Freak, revealed at a developer discussion in Los Angeles today.

Siliconera is in attendance and we’ve learnt that the games are designed so that players can choose to be connected to the Internet all the time, and use a concept called Player Search System (PSS) to find other trainers to play with.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y show passersby, acquaintances and friends using different icons. When a new player is recognized, they will be added to the list, and players can be detected both through local wireless or over the Internet.

Passersby are simply other players the PSS recognizes are playing Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Simply interact with someone once whether through a trade or a fight and they’ll become an acquaintance. Keep interacting with them and they’ll turn into a friend. This way, even if you don’t live in a densely populated area, you’ll still be able to find people to play with.

The Global Trading Station will continue on as well. 80 million Pokémon trades have been conducted so far, Masuda shared.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y also allow you to set different battle rules before a battle, although we aren’t certain what these are. You can also now move the camera in battle, since the battles themselves take place in 3D.
