Super Mario 3D World Announced For Wii U

By Ishaan . June 11, 2013 . 7:13am

Nintendo have announced Super Mario 3D World for the Wii U, a 3D Mario game that will be similar in concept to Super Mario 3D Land, which combined the 2D and 3D styles of play.

Super Mario 3D World will feature four playable characters—Mario, Luigi, Toad and Peach—each with their own abilities. For example, Peach will be able to hover, while Toad will be able to run the fastest. A new ability, Cat Mario, will allow Mario to climb up walls and scratch enemies.

The game’s multiplayer will be as cooperative and competitive as you’d like it to be, according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.

Super Mario 3D World will be available this December.

Finally can play as Peach…. My wife will be so happy.

    • Slayven19

I’m happy as well, there was no real reason for her not to be playable until now.

Cheap deaths…..rage quits, Nintendo wants you to lose all your lives on the first level

Haha, Mario cat. I see what you did there.

  • Tom

I love Nintendo but man does this look uninspired.

Your avatar makes your comment ironic.

      • Tom

I chose it before the album came out :(

  • Zenthos

    The graphics look good.
Co-op with luigi, peach, toad, and mario with their OWN unique traits is an awesome plus as well. Cat mario is a cool power up.

I hate to be the guy that has to speak out,
    Where is the hub world?
Were are big levels that allow commence exploration?
Why is it limited to only moving 8 directions?
Why is their a timer that would limit players from a could be exploration?
    Were are the Npc’s?

When I and every other SMS or SMG fan was eyeballing the screen, we expected an awesomely fleshed out 3d mario game that would blow us away, not a 2.5d title that could fit perfectly on the 3ds.
I hope “Super Mario 3D World” proves me wrong or if there’s another 3D title in development. Im just.. disappointed.

try waiting for info instead of jumping to conclusions and getting disappointed by them

I gave my impression based on the information shown.

        Then I went to say:
“I hope “Super Mario 3D World” proves me wrong or if there’s another 3D title in development.”

Please read my statements thoroughly before replying back. You are the one jumping to conclusions.

  • It’s not the most surprising Mario game out there, but I really love the way this looks. I hate to say it, but I’m kind of getting tired of collectathon Mario games. They’re good, but I actually thought 3D Land was a refreshing change, so it’s not surprising to me to see them go forward with that idea in the Wii U game.

So I expected something like this, therefore I’m not disappointed. I can’t wait to play it.

  • Anime10121

They were promoting it as the next “big” 3D title from the Galaxy team, and all we end up getting is super Mario Land multiplayer on console?

    Color me disappointed :(

    • Slayven19

      I still want it :)

  • Trepie

I thought this was a 3DS game when they first announced it. Well, I’m disappointed. It looked really good for a 3DS game, not that great for a Wii U game.
