AeternoBlade, The 3DS Game Inspired By Castlevania, Muramasa And Braid

By Ishaan . June 25, 2013 . 11:50am

When indie developers turn to crowdfunding, it’s normally for a game that is in development for PC or across multiple platforms. It’s rarer to see an indie developer that turns to Kickstarter or IndieGoGo for a purely portable game, but that’s what Corecell are doing. They’re working on a side-scroller called AeternoBlade for the Nintendo 3DS, and say the game is inspired by Braid, Muramasa and Castlevania.

AeternoBlade features a neat time-travel feature that lets you rewind time and fix mistakes you’ve made. The game is nearly complete—Corecell say they’re 90% done, and are preparing to release the game in Japan. Where they do need help is acquiring funds for localization and an overseas release in the U.S. and Europe, and this is what their IndieGoGo campaign is for.

Once the stars align, AeternoBlade will be released as a download title via the Nintendo eShop.

It looks neat but I can’t stand that hit sound.

  • XypherCode

Finally some news about this game. So it’s not called ChronoBlade anymore. xD For an indie platformer, the gameplay is quite solid. :)
And looks like ArcSys will handle publishing in Japan.

  • Hollowkoopa

The story is kind of overdone but in a action game you are not looking for a story. You are looking for some really good gameplay and this looks pretty solid.

Now all i need is MONEY!!!

    • SpectralRaiden

Sorry to bother you, but what manga is your profile pic from?

      • Guest

        looks like Sekirei

Sorry have’nt replyed for a while i actully don’t know. Sometimes i just get random pictures. Sorry if this confuses anybody but my pic wasn’t always shiro.

  • dragoon_slayer12

Beautiful game, definitely something I can get lost in

  • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

cool never mind about Muramasa being 3DS as well. It would be cool in 3D but I have the Wii version. No Vita yet cause yeah price and not much I want for it. This look great.

  • Looking pretty sweet. A very promising addition to the 3DS’ library.

  • ragingmerifes

I love these kind of news just before the payday. It kinda deems an undeniable fate to my money.
But I need to save for Shin… oh my god, it is so close. OH GOD I LOVE MY LIFE

      ……I know the feeling

    • Ric Vazquez

SMT IV…I think I’m not getting any sleep on the night of July 16 XD

  • Awesome news, taking into consideration i just bought Muramasa Rebirth :X, just what the 3DS needed. Also i loved:

“Once the stars align, AeternoBlade will be released as a download title via the Nintendo eShop.”

That would have been so awesome from SEGA to say about PSO2 release date, haha.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

At the end of the vid, it sounded like this will be ported to PC and Vita at later dates after localization has been done.

But looks like a decent game to try out, regardless the platform.

    • Aquarius

Unfortunately for PS Vita users, they said PS VISTA if you listen well, so apparently they’re porting it to that underground never-before-seen mythical Playstation portable that runs Windows Vista.

  • Spirit Macardi

Hopefully the Castlevania games this was inspired by weren’t the Lords of Shadows titles x3

    • Go2hell66

      Amen to that

  • ParrotProphet

    Here is a legitimate question.

Why is a Wii U version the most expensive and the LAST stretch goal? If it started on a Nintendo console, shouldn’t their next logical step be on the HD Nintendo console? I find it strange that they would make the Wii U an after-thought like that when they started on the 3DS. I’m just saying.

  • SpectralRaiden

Did anyone notice near the end the translator said “PsVISTA”…huh!? I mean even if he was just translating what the guy said he could have atleast took it upon himself to correct it:-/

    • Stephen Munn

My guess is that the narrator was just someone who could effectively translate from Thai to English for them, and had never heard of PlayStation Vita.

      • SpectralRaiden

Oh man, that didn’t cross my mind at all:-/

  • Arlock41

    *throws money at 3DS*

  • Go2hell66

Did he mention muramasa? I dont think so, might have missed it.

I’d play this 1000 times before i ever touch lords of shadow mirror of fate again

  • This looks pretty good. I hope they make enough to get it out for the Vita at least as well.

  • kmantle

    Braidstlevania the demon blade?

    • Armane

      Muramastlevania: The Demon Braid.

  • Stephen Munn

Interesting concept. I like the character designs. I hope they put some more work into the animations and physics, because the way Freya moves does not look natural. I also noticed some pretty poor enemy AI, but that may have been a tutorial segment or something.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

This game looks good and to think this come from Thailand makes my interest increase more.^_^ Hope the company will be able to do well and make this game better.^_^

  • Aristides

Give us a Vita version and I’ll fund it. I love my 3DS but I’m not sold on the e-shop.

  • Vash bane

maybe the title should be changed cuz he said also wii U
