Indie Fighter Yatagarasu Gets Crowdfunding Campaign For Sequel

Doujin games publisher Nyu Media have launched an IndieGoGo campaign for an indie fighting game that they intend to help develop. The game is a follow-up to Yatagarasu, and is titled Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm!

For the uninitiated, Yatagarasu is an indie fighter inspired by Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, developed by three former SNK / King of Fighters staff members. The game is already available on PC and is headed to the Nintendo 3DS’ eShop later this year. You can read more about it here.

Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm! will add new characters and features, and if enough funds are accumulated, get an arcade release in Japan as well. Nyu Media will localize and publish the game worldwide. Here are the features they’re looking to add:

  • Two new characters (backers are invited to vote on roster of candidate characters to decide which add)
  • New graphics and story rewrites
  • Improved game play, balancing, and online match support
  • MC voiceover by TOUGEKI announcer Koori Masao
  • Full English localization
  • English commentary by famous overseas tournament commentators (to be announced)!
  • A NESiCAxLive arcade version in collaboration with Taito! (presently planned for release in Japan only)
  • Worldwide release of the PC (Windows) version with English and Japanese language options

You can watch a trailer for the latest version of Yatagarasu (v4.3) above.

Still waiting on that 3DS release >_<

This was considered for the 3DS? Count me in! ^_^

    • MrJechgo

I’m with you, kinda wished that they would announce a release date by now.

  • Pfantzypantz

Really hoping for a steam release… Theyd make so much more money if they put it up on steam.

    • FetusZero

They would put it on Steam, as would many other devs and publishers. Thanks to Greenlight though, a Steam release has become nothing more than an unachievable dream for most of them.

      • Pfantzypantz

Darn, I just read their comments… Yeah, this would have a tough battle with greenlight, I really hope they can succeed this time.

      • Shady Shariest

Sad that people don’t vote on Greenlight :/

    • SuperSailorV

Seconded, if only to use my stick.

I personally can’t fathom a game inspired by 3S played on pad.

  • BlueTree

    Today’s Kickstarter.

  • ChiffonCake

Oh, I think I had heard of this game before, but didn’t really look into it too much… I’ll have to do that later though, looks pretty interesting! (and really reminds me of KoF of old, heh)

Another Fighter for the 3DS PLEASSEEE!!!!

  • Ståle Laastad

No stretch goal for vita version ._:

  • SpectralRaiden

Why not Kickstarter? They’d honestly get more traffic and meet their funding goals far quicker:-/

    • Hunts Rattata

Possibly because IndieGoGo takes a smaller cut of the donations.

    • Cellsai

IndieGoGo offer flexible funding. If they don’t meet their goal, the dev team can still claim any funds they’ve currently raised.
With KickStarter it’s all or nothing.

And as Hunts says below, IGG charge half the fees that KS do if a project is fully funded. A little less than KS if they don’t make the full goal.

    >>inspired by SFIII:3rd Strike

those…. are the words I’ve been waiting to hear!!

  • Aristides

    Needs to be on Vita

  • Göran Isacson

Interesting. For those who’ve played it, is this a version well worth investing in? Kinda interested in another high quality beat-em- up, not gonna lie.

  • CirnoLakes

    Didn’t even notice this.

Definitely supported. I’m happy to show my love for fighting games on the PC. And on crowdfunding in general.
