Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster Drama Takes Place One Year After FFX-2

By Spencer . July 9, 2013 . 12:21am

ffx2 Early reports from Famitsu state that Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster, one part of the Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster, will have a voice drama. You don’t need to clear the game to hear it either, which may make it different from the 30 minute long drama that plays during the credits.

This added story takes place one year after the events of Final Fantasy X-2 and it will have new characters. Square Enix also made illustrations to go along with the story and confirmed the Vita version (which is a separate game) and Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster for PS3 will have the drama.

I’m definitely gonna get this for Vita since I want more games on my Vita and I don’t usually have the time to play consoles. also haven’t played played 10 but I’m looking forward to it.

    • http://twitter.com/Stubblehead Kenny Stubbs

I hope you like it. It’s the reason I bought a Vita and I haven’t played it for years. I’m getting the Vita version so that I can have FF 1-10 with me all the time :)

      • AlexanderPappas

Thats pretty awesome to have 1-10 on one system at once! my vita is the same with the Persona series got 1-4 (not counting eternal punishment)

        • Mr_SP

I have Persona 1-4 on the Vita as well… Some bargains on the PS Store, plus having not played 1 and Innocent Sin before, and being curious about P3′s FeMC, all conspired so that I have them all at once. Too bad about Eternal Punishment.

          • AlexanderPappas

Yeah I really want Atlus to Localize the psp version.

          • Daniel Williams

unless Im mistaken, they released eternal punishment on the PSN (the PS1 version at least) back in febuary… at least they did in the U.S.

Please give us a date and if this opens the doors to return to the world of FFX with new games/other media, I’m going to be so happy.

  • Kaihedgie

    This I must see

  • Chiupon

It’s a weird day when Lightning Returns and FFX-2 sound more appealing than XV.

    • AlexanderPappas

Well we do know more about LR and FFX-2, so its only natural to feel that way.

    • Syn

Hmmmm, its a strange day when one finds a next gen game less appealing than a current gen game imo(not really concerned with the titles here)

      • D H

Why? The first round of “next gen” games are never super ground breaking or evolutionary. They are, 95% of the time, simply evolutions of things we’ve seen before. Even things like Mario 64, which is an evolutionary mix of Mario and early 3D platformers we’d already seen on PS1. Granted, it’s the first real time the 3D “clicked,” so to speak, but it was hardly groundbreaking other than just simply working.

Meanwhile, “current gen” games are much more developed, as in the developers know what they can get out of the systems by this point. Therefore, they can more easily create what they want, how they want, instead of trying to figure out what little flaws in programming code or chip order will let them eek out a little more performance.

Meanwhile, even saying this, I’m eyeing no less than 25 “next gen” titles, although for comparison sake I guess you could lower that number by 3-5, since a few are title that are also releasing on “current gen” systems. In comparison, 22 “current gen” games, including a few that were announced and then disappeared so I may as well not concern myself with them (mainly looking at you, Phantom Breaker…).

      • Chiupon

Yeah. Like it definitely wasn’t a knock but XV is supposed to be this amazing big budget thing and the more i hear about it the more suck it sounds like it has

i’m really expecting a melodramatic homosexual space odyssey

        • Syn

lol, I get what you mean there…. Love the phrasing by the way lol, totally made my night

          • Chiupon

            :D

  • ivanchu77

    I wouldn´t be surprised if that “drama” is a set-up for FFX-3

    • enorka miho

LOL.. Thought the same thing as well.. XD

    • fayt255

Well maybe in like 10-15 years later lol.

  • Donatetimo

Oh this I need to see.

  • Katboy

this looks good. Never played X or X-2, I will definitely get this for my Vita.

  • Brimfyre

    I’ll watch it on YouTube.

Wild monkey’s would have to force me to replay FFX.

    • Brimfyre

To clarify, I don’t hate FFX, it’s just not a game I really every want to go back to. Once you play it, I can’t see there being any fulfilling reward in going through it again. Not much replay value.

      • Syn

Well if you beat Penance and all the Original Arena creations then yeah, doubt there would be much reason to go back……but if you didnt, well, you could use this as a chance to go and truly experience the game to its fullest potential.

  • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

Well, the Gullwings already had their one level climax. Let this drama focus on Tidus, Wakka, Lulu and the others. They almost had no role in FF10-2

    • Kaihedgie

The entire game was revolving around finding Tidus and plus there was an ongoing subplot between Lulu and Wakka. If you fulfilled certain conditions, you’ll even discover the baby’s name.

      • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

Yet most of the game is about helping people who have economical problems and some guy named Shujin who has three scenes and poses little to no challenge as a boss. Lulu and Wakka were so worked up that they didn’t have facial animations.

        • Kaihedgie

          Actually, they did.

    • http://gamgambit.tumblr.com/ Thespian Treasure Hunter ♢

Yuna started as a calmed summoner, then a charlie angels, I assume a year later she’s now a pr—- flower girl, yeah.

  • gRiMmYdArK13

Does this mean the VITA version won’t get the drama?

  • Luis Camargo

    X-3 is inbound….

NOBODY ASKED FOR THIS (I think….)

  • Göran Isacson

Hoooh. I’m curious what this could be all about. I suppose that it will simply be an epilogue of what happened to the characters after X-2 ended, because I’m not really sure what else you could do with the story after all that’s said and done. Unless they’re going to try and explain Zanarkand even more, oorrr… link it together with FInal Fantasy 7, as there are links between the two games? Who knows…

  • icantstandthisindecision

I’m willing to bet that this is going to be an “in” to Final Fantasy X-3. I’ve said this since the reveal of the initial drama last month.

That said– FFX-3 wouldn’t be unwelcome in my eyes.

    • KnifeAndFork

As long as Toriyama doesn’t direct it!

      • icantstandthisindecision

I’d be fine if Toriyama directed it. I really don’t think that it’d be that bad if he directed it.

  • Monterossa

new characters? Tidus & Yuna’s daughter!! cute girl with blonde hair and 2 colors eyes!!

  • KnifeAndFork

Nice! but why just voice?? ugh

  • Ronldbx6

New characters!? They’re definitely making a new game.
