Apollo And Athena Investigate A Murder In An Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies Trailer

By Ishaan . July 17, 2013 . 4:00pm

A second trailer for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies out of Comic-Con shows investigation mode gameplay, demonstrating how the game’s jump to 3D models affect investigations. Check it out below:

Athena mentions a “giant bird monster” and that room looks awfully familiar, so this case is probably from the game’s Nine-Tales case.

Everytime I play or see a video for the AA series, the first thing that comes to mind is how much better it would be with proper voice acting.

I know it wasn’t possible for 1-3, being gameboy games, but come on. There’s no excuse now.

    Even so, amazing games.

    • AlteisenX

I actually prefer the sfx of the text scrolling and voice clips for objections and stuff.

But.. The beeps.. These games keep the beepitron 5000 in business.

I dunno, when there are voiced sequences in games I usually read everything before the characters are finished talking so I just end skipping them :P

Except in Trauma Team because I love that game!

    • wasad

With the voices they have right now for the English version, no thank you.

But I want to see Ace Attorney Donnel in action.

It would take so much of the charm away, and I think the consequence of having full voice overs is that the majority of fans would probably be discouraged to continue to follow the series. It would be too big of a change, and it wouldn’t be for the better.

  • Slightly unrelated but I assume an article will pop up about it later on here, AA5 is also going to be rated M. Not that, that should bring people toward/drive people away from the game, I just found it crazy.

    • We asked Capcom for a statement already, and all they’re saying is, “Due to the nature of the various crimes and storylines in this latest title in the series ESRB deemed the title an M.”

Either the game really is a little edgier than the previous ones or the jump from 2D to 3D made the ESRB re-think what rating it deserved.

      • linkenski

Or the fact that there is a bombing of a courtroom, which is set in USA in the NA version and it bears resemblance to terror attacks, ergo, it had to be kept away from the kids.

        • Another part I keep hearing about, although this part isn’t confirmed, is that its not only a rating change fromESRB. Rumor has it, it also is getting a CERO C and a PEGI 16 too.

Can’t say any of that is true though.

          • Lusankya

Yes, also Capcom said USK is going to rate it for ages 12 and up (all earlier AA games were either rated for ages 0 or ages 6 and up in Germany),

        • Ah, that’s a good point. That could certainly be one of the factors.

        • Radiosity

That’s a good point. But also in the screenshot the article uses in the main article list we’ve got this:

“Now, we’ve got to hurry up and find Mr. Wright before he’s fully digested!”

… he gets EATEN? Yep, that’s M material right there lol

      • I assume it has to do with the jump from 2D to 3D more than anything else.

    • DemonShadowX

      Rated M for MURDER!

    • Antixono

      NOOOOO,then I won’t be able to play AA5.Argh….

      • Lusankya

        • M’iau M’iaut

Quite possibly under 17 with a parent who manages the games based on rating.

I love THEM NOSTALGIC BEEPS…It’s of the charm at least in my opinion.

  • Sardorim

Apollo, you must try hard to maintain eye contact.

  • Alestaos

Anyword on them actually releasing this as a physical? I know there was a topic about it being a possibility for fans but havent heard anything after

  • Bacon_n_Lettuce

Just out of curiosity, is there any way to turn off the text bleeping sound in-game? It’s a minor gripe, but that’s the type of thing that would make me play with the sound off…

  • Ty Arnold

I’m just hoping that there’s a way to make the text scroll faster during your first playthrough.

  • Lusankya

Actually this is not from case 2 (well, the scenery is) but instead an original scenario specifically written for the investigation demo.
