Meet Laharl’s Sister, A Mysterious Demon, And The Other Characters In Disgaea D2

By Spencer . July 23, 2013 . 6:08pm

NIS America released a new video of Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness that introduces the main characters. You probably recognize Laharl, Etna, and Flonne from other Disgaea titles. Disgaea D2 is a direct sequel to the first game and Laharl has stepped up to the Overlord throne.

Sicily is a new character who claims to be Laharl’s sister and also wants to be the Overlord. Another faction doesn’t believe Laharl is up to the task of filling in for King Krichevskoy and wants Barbara to be the Overlord. Meanwhile, there is a war between demons and angels. It seems like Xenolith knows something about that.

Disgaea D2 comes out on October 8 in North America and September 27 in Europe.

    What…what happened to Laharl’s voice?

    • IS | 桂木

Same VA since the first game. Relax.

      • Andrew A

Oh damn, thats a relief. I guess I just don’t remember his voice that well!

        • Bec66

It could also be that it changed a bit.

        • Arrei

I think it’s just that that particular voice clip ended more calmly than you were expecting from Laharl.

If our memories were accurate representations of Laharl every single line of his would be shouted at the top of his lungs.

  • mojack411

Oh wow. I was trying to be careful of spoilers but I couldn’t help but at least see the picture on the YouTube video that’s displayed before you even play the video haha. Well now I know why Flonne looks like that. I’m playing Disgaea 1 right now…

    • Pfantzypantz

Hah I know that feel, the same thing happened to me when I was playing through Disgaea 1 a while back…

  • IS | 桂木

So lemme guess… Danielle Judovitz as Sicily, Cindy Robinson as Barbara, and Kirk Thorton as Xenolith?

  • Uso Ewin

Flonne sounds oddly demented, is it the whole fallen angel thing?

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/xxHiryuuxx Tohsaka

      She’s not demented! D:

    • Lynx

      It’s her descent into madness….

      ….Unless she was already there.

    • http://shadious.tumblr.com/ Vince

She’s like that because she has the power of LOOOOOOOVE at her side.

    • Raltrios

I think her VA’s out of practice. Laharl sounded a tad out of sorts, too, but Etna was spot on.

  • Highasthesky

I hope some DD2 characters make it to D4R

  • ZekeFreek

The day Barbara Goodson dies, I will break down in tears I swear. Nobody does that laugh like her.

  • RichyGaming

The voice actor for Laharl’s sister sounds…. wow.

  • ChiffonCake

Wow, Sicily doesn’t sound like a loli at all. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad.

    • riceisnice

Considering little girls are usually not screeching harpies that sound like chalkboards, It’s a major improvement. Though it sounds like she’s trying too hard to sound young.

      • CirnoTheStrongest

I dunno, I like the ‘Screeching harpies that sound like chalkboards’ normally >.>

I need to check the JP voice to see if it makes sense or NISA’s just made an odd decision…

        • Tienron

you need to check the jp voice to see if it makes sense ~_~……
beside that weird remark i will agree that when i heard her voice i didn’t think of a little girl the voice did sound more mature. but we will get use to it

      • supervamp

No no they should have went with a higher voice

        • fireguardiancoty

          So you have that fetish…

          • supervamp

No i just like it when the voices of characters fit the appearance and/or personality you know like a normal person

    • Godman

      I thought so too :/
It kind of feels like Flonne’s and Sicily’s voices should have swapped lol

      • Arrei

You do NOT mess with Flonne’s voice.

You just… you just DON’T, okay?!

        • Godman

          okay ._.

The point I was just trying to make was that Sicily needs a more Flonnish voice

    • supervamp

      There’s always dual audio

  • Qunton C.

So good to hear the old cast. Sandy always makes me laugh with her Flonne voice and Barbara’s Laharl is fantastic.

  • Pockystix

it’s nice that they got the old cast back, it’s gonna make playing the first one before this more comfortable lol

    • Time Sage

don’t play the PS2 version. Etna’s VA was diffrent in that one.

      • Tienron

Dont, not play a game because the voice actor is different. Disgea 2 was a good game, if you haven’t played it you should

        • Time Sage

I’ve played all the Disgaea games. I was makeing a point to note the VA changed so if you go from PS2 D1 to DD2 you still have a VA change.

          • Tienron

i understand, but you were telling another person to not play a game based on someones voice…..a whole game….with connection to the series and everything…

          • Time Sage

…The PSP version is actully far better for other reasons.

If you overlook voice acting entriely go for the DS version as it has even MORE features,

  • GameWinner

This will be in my hands on October 8th. Believe.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu of Spades

Aaaaah! After 10,000 years, I’m the main character! It’s time to conquer the Netherworld (again)!

    • Charles

You’ll need 5 prinnies with attitude.

  • juma086

Sicily sounds like Tenten from Naruto.

  • laurenhiya21

I really hope there will be dual audio… I mean, even if there isn’t, I’ll still be excited for this and bare with it, but Flonne’s voice is still way too screechy for me ;-; (and I don’t think all of the voices fit too well either…)

    • fireguardiancoty

It’s NISA we’re dealing with here. They haven’t let the weeaboos down yet.

  • Time Sage

Ya know, Etna better have her title as “Beauty Queen” …or at least Demon Lord.
