By Spencer . July 24, 2013 . 10:48pm

image5pb is bringing Robotics;Notes, the third game in the popular science adventure series, to PlayStation Vita. Robotics;Notes follows Kaito Yashio who is in the robotics club and Akiho Senomiya, the president of the club. They work together in this game to build a giant robot called Gan-tsuku.

Robotics;Notes was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 last year. The game will be available for Vita this winter.

Saw this on twitter, thought it was coming to the US. Hopes = Dashed. Oh well.

    • Detrimont

      i thought that too

If you’ve watched the anime, you’ve pretty much seen it all. The game is just much slower paced, w/ a more mundane/repetitive soundtrack, and the Twitter-like gameplay system was quite cumbersome.. many mysteries were thrown in but not explored. The anime really improved a lot on it, pacing, animation, & music-wise. Both Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head were actually more gripping. 5pb seemed to have the anime in mind when making Robotics;Notes, so it didn’t work too well as a VN.. I finished the game and got 1000 achievement before watching the anime, I did like the story and chars. I know R;N is very different, but unfortunately it’s not in the same league as S;G. I would say Steins;Gate game is not to be missed, but R;N you aren’t missing much. Better just watch the anime.

  • TheExile285

After watching the anime, I’d actually buy this if it came to America

    • Renaldi Saputra

hmm is R;N that popular and success?
      I can see if it’s S;G..
      but..

      • TheExile285

        Not at all lol

        • Renaldi Saputra

if that so, I can see R;N got quite low score in MAL.. some said it’s a deconstructed series of mecha anime..

    • Kelohmello

Do your part and buy Steins;Gate when it comes out, is my suggestion. That, hopefully, will help make Robotics;Notes come over.

If nothing else the Vita has become a haven for visual novels. There are a ton of them for it (mostly lower profile titles that don’t get covered here). Of course the PSP used to fill that role too, but damn it sure is nice actually being able to read the text ;) The PSP’s resolution was too lower to properly display more complex kanji.

    • Renaldi Saputra

PSP? Huh? R;N was in PS3

      • Radiosity

… he never said it wasn’t, he was just stating that the PSP was a popular platform for visual novel ports and the Vita is now taking over that role.

        • Renaldi Saputra

          ohh

    • supervamp

The psp is still filling that role there have mostly just ports vns sent to the vita and the psp is still getting a large output of vns

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

    Aksys…you know what to do.

  • ChiffonCake

I still wish 5pb would release stuff on PC, though this is great anyway.

  • Raltrios

I really enjoyed the Steins;Gate amime. Would R;N be in the same vein? Or would it be more like Chaos;Head, which I never want to touch again in my life?

    • Radiosity

Closer to S;G, it’s really good overall. The C;H anime was an abortion and in no way reflects on the actual quality of the original VN, ignore it and pretend it doesn’t exist. It’s a shame C;H isn’t being localised because they’re all part of the same series in the same world and things that happen in the games have bearing on the other games (most notably the bad guys, though certain characters get cameo mentions too).

      • Raltrios

Actually, it was the C;H manga that I went through. The damn thing skipped all over the place, and even now I honestly have no idea what was going on. It was like reading a novel with every other chapter ripped out.

        • Radiosity

Sounds like a botched job like the anime then, my above comment still stands in that case, the VN is the only way to experience it as it should be experienced.

I can see why they went with S;G first for localisation since the hard work is all basically done already, but it’s still kind of odd when C;H is the first of the three. They’re effectively all standalone stories so it’s not ‘too’ big a problem but there are definite threads linking each of them together that are sort of important too.

    • Lynx

Maybe. They’re very different overall. RN is on a much “smaller” scale but globally when compared to SN. It’s much more straight forward but the characters were endearing.

  • Junko Enoshima

How come EVERY good title has to be either on the Vita nowadays, the one portable system I don’t have?

Oh well. I still have my visual novel-less 3DS…. :(

    • AlexanderPappas

You can play 999 and VLR on 3DS. Probably the best visual novels I’ve played (especially 999). Play them. Do it.

      • Junko Enoshima

        …!!!!!!

I forgot. wHY DIDN’T I REMEMBER THESE GAMES

  • Radiosity

My PS3 copy arrived a couple of days ago so I’m all set, would rather have something like this in Big Vision. Slowly saving money for the rest of the Science Adventure series now, a task not being helped by them releasing new games lol

  • artemisthemp

Sad that stuff like this most likely will stay in Japan.

  • AlexanderPappas

I hope it’s better than the show. Which was bad. It had a huge deus-ex machina. Giant rocks literally falling from the sky, there’s like twenty, it solves all there problems, and it’s never explained or even mentioned where they come from.

  • ShadowDivz

The budget for that school is ridiculous…

  • creid8

Hopefully NIS picks this up once they’re done with the Dangan Ronpae.

  • Will Jay

I really hope this gets localized. It seems like a perfect fit for Aksys.

  • Bigabu Beaze

I hope some1 picks this up to localize!
