I would’ve preferred Harmony of Despair to be honest. I heard this game wasn’t very good.

Still, Castlevania is cool, at least there’s a demo.

Really? I heard that this was the first 3D Castlevania game to really nail it and that it’s a must play for this generation.

Don’t downvote me for having an opinion. ;p

        • mojack411

I didn’t down vote you, that was someone else. I haven’t played the game and can’t have an opinion. Just saying what my friends have told me.

I would disagree heavily. While the PS2 3D games had flaws like bland architecture, LoS comes out as more of a God of War clone than anything else. It doesn’t “feel” like Castlevania outside of maybe one or two levels, the plot is horrid, and the game tends to be pretty buggy.

I’ve watched a friend accidentally knock herself outside of level geometry several times in a row in the swamp area, for instance.

I, too, would have preferred a Harmony of Despair port.

Well, as something to say, I don’t really remember the plot, so that doesn’t speak well. All I remember is that twist end, cause, well, just wow, really. But I’d much prefer this to Harmony of Despair; give me a new real, full 2D Castlevania, then we’ll talk.

IT’S ONLY $30?! Oh man now I have to get it. No more hesitation!

edit: Hmm, the download isn’t starting for me for some reason. Guess I’ll try again later.

The download isn’t working for me either. Thought it was just me at first, but maybe not.

      • Pfantzypantz

You have to restart Steam, since I had the same problem and got it to work.

        • Andar

          That did the trick, thanks!

I loved the game as it’s own thing. It didn’t feel like Castlevania, but it’s still a very good game by it’s own merits. It simply should’ve been called Lord of Shadows, but I understand the need to tie it into the Castlevania name.

Downloaded the demo to see how the PC graphics fared to the console counterparts. looks stellar, though I still don’t understand why pre-rendered cutscenes have to look so bad. I mean, I get that they were made before this release, but damn…

And I second Harmony of Despair coming to PC. I would die. I have spent over 1,000 hours on that game on my PS3, and about half of that on the 360 (though i lost the save file).

60 frames… I do wonder what the game would feel like running that smoothly. Can’t say I feel superhyped to buy it again though, might just wait for some kind of steam sale…
