Falcom’s newest RPG, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash is centered around a group of students in a military academy in the Erebonian Empire. At some point in the story, they will also make a visit to the imperial capital, Heimdallr, where they meet some important people.

Prime Minister Giliath Osborne

001

002 003

Osborne, also known as the “Blood and Iron Prime Minister”, is the ruler of the Erebonian Empire. He is responsible for expanding the country’s railroad system, modernizing the nation, and merging the outlying regions. Recently, he has been receiving complaints from the lower classes while the noble classes have been exploiting loopholes in the old political system.

Governor Regnitz

004 005

Regnitz is the governor of  Heimdallr and the father of Machias. On top of that, he is a close friend of Osborne, a key figure in the reformist group, and a genius in politics. He is well-mannered, but strong at heart, and has worked his way to the top of the noble class. It seems that he is also a member of a certain military academy, and he may be interfering with Rean and his friends.

Vita Clotilde

006 007

Vita is an opera singer also known as the Blue Diva. As the top star of the Heimdallr Opera House, she is highly praised by the citizens for her vibrant voice and enchanting appearance.

The imperial capital of Heimdallr has a vast network of streets and venues. Stretching from the center of the city is Vancool Street, an urban avenue filled with cars, trolleys, and shopping centers. In the far north, there is the Draikels Plaza, an area that sees citizens and tourists alike.

In the west is the calm residential area of Art Street, where Eliot’s family resides. To the northwest is the Garnie district, an area filled with art and history. This is where the Heimdallr Opera House is located.

To the south is the old town of Ost, where Machias’ family resides. Occupied by plebeians and laborers, the town once suffered oppression, but its condition seems to have improved since Regnitz became governor.

Beside the Anole River in the southeast is Heimdallr Port, Thanks to the rise of railroad systems and airships, less people travel by boat, but the amount of cargo carried over water has increased. In the northeast is the Martel Park, an elegant park with glass gazebos and man-made waterfalls.

In the northwest is the Sanct district, where the Heimdallr Cathedral is located, as well as the St. Astrya Girls Academy, where Rean’s younder sister Elise and Princess Alfin are enrolled.

Lastly, there is an huge, underground tunnel running beneath the royal capital that was built during the Middle Ages. No one knows the layout of the entire tunnel, but there are canals running in some sections, as well as an underground graveyard.

In addition, on the eastern border neighboring the province of Krosbel is Galleria Fort, where the garrison of the Fifth Armored Division reside. Five years ago, a armored train was deployed from the fort, raising tension between the empire and Krosbel.

Wow. These characters really did not translate well into 3D.
The governor barely even looks like the same person.

    • jujubee88

It’s the tech and resources. Falcom don’t have a big staff or big pockets compared to Square Enix or w/e. Plus, it’s a VITA title. Once they get a few years down the stuff will be able to look like how Type-0 did when it got revealed.

      • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

It’s a PSV / PS3 title. The models aren’t outstanding but who cares? It’s still a new step for them to move into this territory and the narrative / scope of the saga more than makes up for it~.

        • jujubee88

Yeah, but you know what I meant. VITA will be a platform (probably the lead too since Falcom are more used to PS handhelds like PSP back then).

And yes, I think the art style matter more than gfx bump. I hope to god this and other LoH gets localized so I can experience the story myself on VITA.

    • xavier axol

well, did you checked out the trailer? it looked alright with me, I don’t know why this would be a complaint. after all this series was never known for it’s amazing graphics, but rather it’s story and gameplay that sets it apart from the rest. that’s why you see some people get hype about it, and want to see it get localize here in the states and europe.

  • Milla

Osborne needs no introduction lol, we all know what that bastard did in ao/zero

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

No we don’t, not all of us know Japanese~. =/

      • Milla

Self study will get you very far.

        • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

If self study of japanese was such a viable option most everbody nowadays would know the language and localization companies would be almost out of business. But they aren’t and we don’t. Because we have jobs, lives, duties, obligations, etc. that take precedence over such a thing~.

What spare time I have as an adult I use it to entertain myself. I did enough studying during University, and do enough during work when learning new technologies~.

    • Anime10121

I want to know, but localization issues (wut localization) prevent me from knowing what goes on in the second game, let alone the 4th/5th!

    • Warboss Aohd

he went off da railz on a crazy train?

  • Prinnydoom

I get the impression that vita might be evil. The hot one’s always are. *Sigh*

    • Kevin Schwarz

      Darn let’s hope not!

    • Duc PC-QB

Cant wait to see Vita on my Vita

  • SwiftWind

I JUST WANTTiTs SECOND CHAPTER, IS THAT SO BAD!? :(

  • Kai2591

If have children in the future, I will make sure they learn Japanese from a young age, so that they will not need to suffer like we do at moments like these.

    NEVER AGAIN.

    • Slayven19

That’s actually a pretty good idea.

      • Kai2591

        I know right? haha.

  • エリン

    whooo~ I haven’t been this excited about a game’s release in a very long time~

  • Chim_era

I know I’m stating the obvious but we really REALLY need to get this localized !!!!

If only the games weren’t so time consuming to translate :(

  • michel

    legalize!…

    err, I mean, localize!…

I feel that the odds of this being localized for Vita are low, but not exactly zero… ;)

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Honestly, this game wouldn’t make much sense considering how they are all related and between this game and Trails in the Sky FC there are four games. So yeah, it’d lose a lot of its impact on the audience. Not to mention leave people confused~.

      • Slayven19

Man why do people keep saying this when the developers themselves along with the voiceacters stated that this game is the most beginner friendly. Also I still don’t really believe you because SC still makes since without FC and I’m hearing that you can play zero without the 3rd as its really just a side story anyway..

        • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

SC has zero emotional impact without having witnessed the events of FC. Whoever told you otherwise was full of it~.

          • Slayven19

I’ve played SC so no one but myself told me(admitidly with my limited knowledge of japanese it was hard to play but I had a friend that was japanese and he walked me through the whole game).

Anyway Its like your saying I have to feel the same emotion you feel from seeing the same thing. The emotional impact isn’t even the whole story but a part of it, and I said it still makes sense without playing the FC which it does. Sure you miss out on a few things but meh the FC wasn’t even that good of a game storywise anyway that I’d probably would have skipped it had I known that.

Still I think this is why people can see eye to eye is because they think that what’s important to them has to be important to the other person. I like the characters more-so than the plot of most of these game so the main story doesn’t matter to me to much. Its there its kinda good in SC so I follow it.

          • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

The entire point of SC is what happens between the two main characters of FC. So your point about story vs character just doesn’t make sense. FC makes you invested in Joshua and Estelle, SC starts with that premise, you don’t play SC you won’t feel half of what you should. As it happens with anything that is sequential. There’s a reason that one is called FC, it’s supposed to be the first chapter and you are supposed to play it to get to know the characters, the World and its conflict~.

  • Kaitou21

Every time I see an update for trails in the flash i cry a little on the inside, I don’t even want to look at the odds of this getting localized……….personally I blame American’s intense love for any games that involve guns and violence no matter how bad they are, that’s why the PSP sucked, the only real reason it got good sales was MH……..but now as anyone can see without MH it fails and now it gets 1 new game every couple month’s (pretty much dead in america)…… unfortunately I can see the Vita ending up just the same…..

  • Slayven19

Well someone other than atlus will have to pick this up now since they may be bought by nintendo(which I really wouldn’t like any first party to buy atlus)
