Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Collector’s Edition at 25% Off, Early Access Starts Aug 24

By Viet Do . August 10, 2013 . 11:30am

Just 17 days until you can revisit the land of Final Fantasy XIV through the reworked A Realm Reborn. For those who have already pre-ordered, your waiting days are dwindling, with early access just announced to start on August 24th.

The last open Beta session is now scheduled for August 17 through 19th. If you’ve participated in past Betas and have already resolved to join, you’re in luck: the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn pre-order has dropped to 25% (vs. 20% from a week ago).

The Collector’s Edition is now only $37.50, whereas the Standard Edition will run you $22.50. Both pre-orders will include early access and in-game pre-order goodies. The Digital Collector’s Edition will receive the Helm of Light, Baby Behemoth Minion, Behemoth Barding, and Coeurl Mount.

Already have FFXIV Version 1.0? No need to shell out any more cash – you’ll be getting the reworked game for free, although you’re still on hook for the $12.99 monthly subscription fee. Owners of the original FFXIV Collector’s Edition will also get a direct upgrade to the A Realm Reborn’s Collector’s Edition. The items will be delivered to you via Moogle Letter when ARR launches. The full details on getting ARR for free and account limits can be found here.

The 25% off coupon code GMG25-OGRUH-7SM8H will work until August 16th at 8AM Pacific. Beyond FFXIV ARR, a few select titles also qualify for the 25% off code, including the upcoming Batman Arkham Origins and the remastered NES Duck Tales (Steam key).

Its a win win situation so sweet, I hope more of these articles pop up,

  • NewestType

I am hoping preorders open up for ce via gamestop.

    • Brutal2D

I was lucky enough to get the last available one in my town’s store. I couldn’t believe how fast they sold out.

      • NewestType

Yes, I was twice burned by gamestop concerning ce pre orders. First with xillia when they told me no more woul be available. I did get one through NGBI but ended up paying $30 more with shipping. Now they have them available -_-

You gotta be careful man, there are shady GameStop stores out there
The GS store up the street, I’ll never get screwed over because several of the employees there, I have known for years
          Employee discounts are helpful too

          • NewestType

So true. Most of my experiences with GameStop staff have been quite well (my previous employment auditing them may have contributed to this). Though there are some exceptionally bad ones too. Ranging from reps who dont really care about the job to employees that hve no idea about video games. I am usually upset when staff promise to follow up and dont. Other than that, there are only about a ton of other things wrong with the company.

It’s not the store, it’s the businesses that makes the CEs. There’s a set amount that they’re given to sell, and when that amount is hit, you can’t get it. I missed out on the Xillia CE also, but they had other ways to get it again at launch time.

Granted yes there’s things that they do which are warranted for the hate, but at times I see on the net people hop on the bandwagon just to hate.

How do people who pre-order the Physical copy of the game get onto the Beta? Don’t they mention how?

    • Alduwyn

When you pre-order a physicaly copy, usually places like Gamestop will print off a code for you on your reciept. Amazon just sent out codes but we haven’t been able to redeem them.

      • Christopher Nunes

Uh… ON the receipt? I better double check… is it possible for them to RE-print the receipt in case? Or no dice?

        • Nephroxous

That’s for early access. I think you’re boned in regards to getting into phase 4 beta at this point.

          • Christopher Nunes

Well I did get an e-mail for the PC version of FFXIV for the Beta test… so I’m good? Waiting on the PS3 version though.

And I did get the CE version of FFXIV 1.0 so I can get the free upgrade for my PC then as I pre-order the PS3 version.

          • Nephroxous

I think you need to have already registered your beta key by now, which you should’ve received in an email. The url someone else provided above is where you’d do that, but the site is down til beta starts.

You did do the right purchasing method though. I have the non-CE 1.0 version, bought a non-CE pc version of ARR (since I won’t ever play on ps3) and will do the digital upgrade on release. Wish it wasn’t so complicated…

          • Christopher Nunes

I already enter the Beta Key on the site before it went down and said I was eligable for the Open Beta/Phase 4 of FFXIV: ARR so I guess I’m good for the PC version. Though the PS3 version is the one I want to go on to play the game as my new PC I built has issues with the mouse and keyboard dying (both are USB wired) but anything in the USB ports will shut down and stop working even if the PC is fine and running. Though thanks to a little trick to remove this problem, which sadly didn’t work, somehow made it less likely now for it to die.

But I can’t wait to play this! And yeah, I hate when things are complicated too…

I think I remember signing up for that one once(wrong country XD was too hyped l)

  • I know that I’m just being whiny, but I do think it’s unfortunate that 1.0 (non-legacy) players get the game for free but do not get the early access that preorders do. I don’t care about the other bonuses, but I’m rather sad that I’ll have to start a few days after all of my friends. Oh well.

  • 果林

so am i forced to use capsule if i buy through green man gaming?

    • Ferrick

depends, some games from GMG doesn’t require it

      • 果林

well in my case i just pre purchased ff14 arr

        • Ferrick

in the case of ARR, there’s no mention about using capsule, so i presume that you will have to download it directly from SE’s store, which you will get the info at a later date

that, or steam, but FFXIV is not on steam so probably not

          • Time Sage

If you’re in the beta the phase 4 client has been released. Just downlad that from the beta forums and you’re set forever as the phase 4 cilent is going to be the same one used for early acess and live

          • Ferrick

ah sweet! thanks for the info

  • Wiccan1109

It’s kind of a shame that with release so close, the EU PSN (and probably US PSN, i havent checked) just has no front page stuff about this game but the JP one is all over it, its very eye catching. I kinda feel like if its not a picture of a car or a man with sunglasses and/or a gun, western PSN is just like “Nah.” lol

  • Time Sage

FFfff. I already preordered… Why do these deals pop up after I order
