Chaos Rings Is Almost Everywhere, Now Has Windows 8 Phone Support Too

By Spencer . August 15, 2013 . 3:01pm

Correction: Chaos Rings was previously released for Windows Phone, the game now has support for Windows Phone 8.0 devices. (Thanks Kimi!)

Square Enix is continuing to bring Chaos Rings to other devices. First released for iOS, the mobile RPG from Wild ARMs developer Media.Vision has been a sizable success that spawned a prequel and sequel. Chaos Rings was ported to Android and last month Square Enix released Chaos Rings for Vita.

You can get Chaos Rings for Windows Phone 7.5 and 8.0 too. Square Enix just released the Windows Phone version, which doesn’t make it immortal, but means there are more ports of Chaos Rings than Secret of Mana in the wild. Perhaps, Square Enix will give Chaos Rings a console or handheld follow up in the future?

is the Vita version touch only or it works with real controls?

    • leingod

Works with regular controls too. Besides that, it isn’t very optimized though.

      • Tyler Beale

It’s a PS Mobile game, so it’s not allowed to use the full power of the Vita (so it can be optimized for select Android devices too).

I purchased it for the PS Vita. I liked the story, as I thought it was written well. The gameplay however is a different story. It’s too easy, to the point where it becomes pretty boring to play. I’m talking about 2 shotting bosses easy, and you have to run through basically the same dungeons 4+ times. I couldn’t complain for $8 but overall I think it’s a 7/10 or so.

  • Glad it’s getting the exposure, it’s a really great game

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

I loved the game as well and it’s extremely replayable. It’s a shame the Vita version lacks trophies since it’s a game that could have used trophies to make players find out everything about the game.

      • Kolibri

And considering the WP version actually has achievements.

Good, SE….Now where’s Drakerider? Better yet, where on iTunes is its soundtrack?

    • Umar Ver 1.Happy

Been searching for the soundtrack too, some really good songs on that game, for now I just listen to the JukeBox

  • Martian Wong

I already have this game on my Android, so I wont buy it again. But I will be picking up Chaos Ring 2 when it comes to PSM

  • Detrimont

Still not as many ports as FF4

  • Harley Gorillason

This isn’t new, it’s been on Windows Phone since March.

  • Göran Isacson

Good on Chaos Rings, I think it’s a franchise that deserves attention from SE… and perhaps, one day, representation in some bigger circles? To be mentioned in the same breath as Secret of Mana and other Square-Enix franchises that aren’t Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest?

Windows 8 phone, eh? Well, on the nice side, for me, that’s pretty close to out and out PC support.
