Flonnezilla Brings A Wealth Of Goodies To Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness

"Looooooovee," is what I imagine Flonnezilla would shout. Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness is slated for release on September 27 in Europe and October 8 in North America.

The first print includes more than just the PlayStation 3 game. Launch copies of Disgaea D2 include a two-disc official soundtrack, graphic print with characters from the Disgaea series, a  DLC code for costume pack with outfits for Laharl, Etna, and Flonne. That’s probably the classic costume pack Japan got as a bonus.

I’m reeeeeally looking forward to this game, but the translation in certain screens has been worrying me… like that last one. I hope that these just didn’t go through editing yet or something.

    • KuroNathan

“The time for playing is over! I will show you what true feat is!”

Oh god its AT 2 all over again.

    • DesmaX

I sure hope it’s feat, in like, combination or something… I hope

Translation work is already done, according to Nisa

      • Fidelis

        ..Man.

From the SMALL amount I saw in the trailer, the dialogue feels kinda weak, especially compared to what seemed to be the passionate and fun localization effort put into Disgaea 3 and 4..
        For example
“Big brother Overlord, can I take your spot as Overlord?”
        It just doesn’t feel right..
Woolseyism can really make or break a game, and it’s always worked well for Nis. Without it, it’s kind of cringey, and that’s coming from a guy who’s regarded Disgaea as his favorite franchise since middle school. Or maybe, God forbid, I’m growing out of it. But I highly doubt that because D4 still has me entranced whenever I play or watch it.

“The time for playing is over!”

        Come on…

“I will show you what true feat is”

Just wish it felt more natural. Contractions would certainly help

        • DesmaX

Well, I’ve seen worse from them (Like AT III, that translation had some nasty errors there).

I’ll assume they’re fastening the work because of all the games they have to work with, which can cause these errors to slip in the game

          • Fidelis

It’s not really about the errors for me, it’s about the quality of the translation.

            minor improvements imo would be

“The time for playing is over” —> The age old “Playtime’s over!”

“I will show you what true feat is” —-> “I’ll show you what true feat is!”

I’m not even concerned about errors or typos at all, I just want a vibrant script as opposed to what feels like just a strict and direct translation

          • DesmaX

Well… They didn’t change the Script Editor, I can say that…

I dunno, maybe he wasn’t at his best days, or something?

          • Fidelis

Hm..they didn’t..? I completely convinced myself that was the problem. None can know for sure until an interview or something, I guess.

          • DesmaX

Well, they did make a Livestream showing the game. You can see past livestream on twitch page, so you make a good check on the translation

        • Demeanor

I agree, those lines are certainly weak for a game that looks like quite a big fish in the pool, I mean, a sequel to the epic first episode with a system that is more advanced than the latest numbered installment. Let’s just hope those are the ONLY weak lines we’ll find.

    • Kaitsu

      “Playtime’s over!”
“I’ll show you what true terror is!”

      It wasn’t that hard… ;_;

    • Hound

“I will help you ascend to the afterlife <3 Scatter gracefully!"
      Ahahahaha.
It sounds like those dialogue jumbles from La Pucelle Tactics.

I'm hoping those in-fight dialogues are just randomized jumbles that don't translate properly into English.

Persona & Shin Megami Tensei games have dialogue strings that are randomized in the Japanese version in such a way that they'd make no sense in English. So, our localized version has a more limited set of dialogue options (mostly with demon negotiation, etc). It could be something like that.

What I don't get is why they'd give us screens of them if that's the case..

what true… feat… is? I’m hoping they haven’t ran this through editing yet.

  • Arcana Wiz

that boxart it’s so simple yet so beautiful.

  • SuBw00FeR

I think it’s just a typo and it’s meant to say fear.

  • Andrew A

Oh no, they she’s got to go. Go, go, Flonnezilla.

  • DesmaX

They could give 2 disc soundtrack for GFP too…

    I wouldn’t mind

  • Presea

Flonnezilla is the cutest thing I have ever seen.

  • DrakeClawfang

Flonnezilla is right up there with Giga Drill Break as one of the greatest attacks in fiction

    • Arrngrim

Yeah, her face is so cute in the zilla costume…awwwwwwesome.

    • Testsubject909

      What about a Mecha Flonnezilla?

  • xXDGFXx

Sweet! They used a different font this time! The only thing that irked me about Disgaea’s localization was the font choice and how ugly it was on the big screen. It looked nice on the Vita and PSP, but on the big screen it just looked so bland.

  • Demeanor

The coming fall will be extremely exciting for gaming. This alone is a huge time sink, add to that (my personal list) FF XIV, Killer is Dead, Miku, Beyond 2 Souls, GTA, Paradox, and then looking forward the PS4 with its next gen titles… just wow. This will be my first strategy guide for a NISA game (LE), gotta use it wisely :P

  • shadowind

I have to admit that as a European, it’s good to gloat at the fact that we’re getting a lot of NISA games before you North American gamers for once! (Unlike Atlus USA who seem to take perverse pleasure in either making us wait months for their games here or in some cases, decide not to have them come out here!)

Etna can sexy my beam any day.

  • Croix Zapp

now come to vita…………….in about 3 years ;(
