Wait, Could Aquapazza Really Come Out In North America?

By Spencer . August 15, 2013 . 1:40am

image Fighting games are still popular in the West and many games in the genre find their way overseas, but Aquapazza really? Aquapazza: Aquaplus Dream Match from Arcana Heart developer Examu would be a surprise since the mashup cast of characters comes from games never released overseas like Utawarerumono, Tears to Tiara, and To Heart2.

The rumor comes from Play-Asia, which says a US version is scheduled to come out later this year. Play-Asia has Aquapazza listed for $34.90, so maybe it will be a $29.99 game if it gets an overseas release. But, Chaos Wars came out, which was even more unlikely so anything is possible.

First released in arcades, Aquaplus added an extra story mode, online play, and a replay save feature.

Thanks Carlos for the active assist and sending the tip over to us.

Brutal. All my favorite imports are being localized :P

But that be weird— but it’d be cool. I was pretty blown away by how tight Aquapazza was and feel that the gameplay system would be right at home outside of the East. Not quite as approachable as Persona 4 Arena but it’s certainly not an intimidating fighter either.

Hm. I’ll wait until there’s a publisher name to go along with it before I celebrate. Q3 2013 seems a little too late for any recent announcements, anyway.
Also, I always mistakenly call it Aqua Pizza ><

  • ギャビン

This is one of the best looking fighting games this gen.

  • landlock

Doesn’t really matter if Utawarerumono, Tears to Tiara, and To Heart2 haven’t been released overseas. Since at least two of them are pretty well known animes so the characters should be known with some of the target audience.

    • kroufonz

atleast the original PC version of TtT adn Utawarerumono did get fan translation

  • kroufonz

    this is megaton.
i am gonna buy this in hope for Tears to tiara 2, and eventually utawarerumono 2 could also follow this .

  • Erikdayo

Was planning on buying this, but now I may wait for the potential US release. I’ve played it before, and it’s actually pretty good!

  • http://geekorner.wordpress.com/ Geekorner

Well, at least two-thirds of these came out as anime.

  • Jesse

As long as the people who brought over Chaos Wars stay FAR away from it, then good(since you brought them up).

I dread to think what they will make arawn sound like if they were in charge of hiring voice actors.

I’m all about more fighting games, but this one is a bit obscure. Even for me. @_@

  • Crimson_Cloud

Wait, is that Tamaki Kousaka that I see on the cover? If so, then the game is a must buy for me. ^^

  • ivanchu77

holy crap, I totally gave up at this game, really surprised that is going to be localized after all this time.

  • zferolie

Well, as cool of news as this is, I just picked up the japanese version of this 3 months ago :|

  • Spirit Macardi

Actually, the Utawarerumono anime did come out over here. Dubbed at that.

    • Vesperion

Yeah Tears to Tiara too, but i think he was talking about the games

      • doubleO7

The original To Heart’s anime adaptation was also released in English, although not To Heart2 specifically.

I know he was talking about the games, but even so, none of these 3 series are entirely unknown to English speakers.

  • riceisnice

    Mmm. I’d love some Aquapizza.

  • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

Well it’ll be treated as a new IP for me.

  • Vesperion

I bought this game a year ago and it’s pretty fun ( i was actually playing my friends last night) This rumor has also been around that it was listed for U.S by PlayAsia for like 2 months now.

  • 알레한드로

Man, this “news”, aquapazza has been listed for a NA release for at least 2 months…

  • TheHolypopeofgaming

    Figures AFTER I import it….

  • SprintsMcGee

I would totally rebuy this if it got a NA release.

  • Milla

Lol this is old news, playasia does this stuff all the time and wasn’t this made with arc system work too? and i need to see a official confirmation first.

  • KyoyaHibari

Tears to Tiara, Utawa and To Heart all had anime releases in the West however, so that can be taken into consideration.

  • colorblindnightmare

I’m not terribly impressed with this game tbh. GrantedbI haven’t played it. If it comes here I’ll try it

  • Vash bane

dont really know what Utawarerumono is but I heard of the other two(played a few games related to the two lol)

time to search this up(feels a little weird though since I only played rpgs of those series..so going from rpg to fighter feels odd)

  • Anesia Hunter

We get Aquapazza, but not Tears to Tiara series… Yeah, I just don’t get it.

  • Solomon_Kano

I’d be happy. Not familiar with the games that are being crossed, but I’m always happy to have more fighters.

  • carlospsp

    Nice i could help!

  • Zak Ledward
