How High School DxDs Dress Break Battle System Works

By Sunjun . August 22, 2013 . 1:41am

021 Kadokawa Games is making a game based on the anime series High School DxD. As revealed earlier, the game has visual novel and turn-based RPG elements. Players fight fallen angels and other enemies and scenes from the first season will act as cut-ins during battle.

Of course, the game has bouncing chests. In the battle screen, you have five options: Boost, Attack, Dragon Shot, Dress Change, and Dress Break. Attack and Boost are self-explanatory. Dragon Shot is a more powerful attack.

As fans of the anime should know, Dress Break will destroy the opponent’s clothes, but only work if she is female. Dress Change is a new feature that lets you change the opponent’s clothes.

If you have an ally with you, you can also use Dress Break or Dress Change commands on her.

High School DxD will be released on November 28 for the Nintendo 3DS. It will be available in a limited edition package that includes earphones, a cord manager strap, two elastic bands, a microfiber cloth, and an illustrated card.

localize it damn u. oh well at least senran kagura is coming

    • Renaldi Saputra

it seems the torn cloth here is more explicit than Senran Kagura Burst.. So, I doubt it will be localized

      • $36598391

I really hope this comes out over here
I love games with stuff like this
Day freaking one purchase for me if it does
also this is why I HATE region locking on the 3DS

        • Renaldi Saputra

the fanservice thing looks more explicit in here.. so I doubt it.. well, also it’s a CERO D game..

Western gaming are somewhat being sensitive against this kind of game.. if they localize it eventually, then there will be so much censoring for sure..

          Solution: buy a Japanese 3DS

          • British_Otaku

All Senran Kagura games are rated CERO D, the first one to get localised in America is set for a T rating and uncensored. >_>

Literally everything you are saying can be applied to Senran Kagura anything. The biggest issue will be the cost of the rights (discussions with the novel publisher and anime producer – perhaps with the other licensors in other countries too).

          • brian

Ar tonelico 3 and Neptune 2 both got a CERO C/ESRB M, Agarest Zero got CERO D/ESRB T, so it’s probably cultural differences.
This looks roughly on par with Shinovi Versus though.

          • British_Otaku

On par with Shinovi Versus in what sense?
Senran Kagura in general lets you revel in fictional superpowered school girls being undressed in a similar manner.

Even if this title removes ALL of the clothes, there isn’t that much of a gap between white lights, actually seeing nipples and barely wearing anything.

If it isn’t a H game (actual sex scenes, seeing the details in full, not allowed on any console or portable by default), then I (based on my limited knowledge) see no reason for it to get a CERO rating beyond C or D on sexuality.

I focused on CERO because I think (terrible assumption) that they are more consistent and open towards sexual content in games despite all of the scares we have had. Or at least, it’s more consistent than hopping between two rating systems.

          • Renaldi Saputra

But Senran Kagura is an action fighting game, I don’t think that game is a real porn game.. meanwhile this is just a standard RPG with some special features (dress breaking, etc).. it’s going to be an actual porn RPG

I assume this game shows you clearly how the player torn the clothes.. and well, this is a half visual novel so.. I sense some H scenes..

umm you know what I mean

          • British_Otaku

My guess is that Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft wouldn’t allow it. Given how actual H games, you know, games which have sex featured explicitly (seeing the taco and teabag in action if I may say something silly because Brits are prudes), tend to get censored versions when they release on any console or portable.

Based on my weak knowledge of the series and what we see of the game, at most we will get a pregnancy ending (games like Toradora and Oreimo with these endings have been rated CERO C) or a fade to black at some point which still makes the most explicit stuff the dress breaks which are Senran Kagura’s jam even without clothes in SV for what it’s worth.

I don’t consider it to be “H” just off what it has now.

        • $36598391

I get a downvote for hating region locks
and ESRB could just give it an M rating so it wouldn’t have to be censored any

      • British_Otaku

I would say the torn cloth is about the same level, but that’s just me being defensive of how torn clothes look in a video game. Both are going to be rated CERO D, it’s more of a problem that this is based on an anime which isn’t from Shonen Jump.

It’s nice to know the earbuds have gold plating on the male stereo mini plug.

  • Patrick Henry de Dios

    Dat earbuds.

    • PJ

Not just that. Take a closer look at the Rias phone strap next to it, and see how it all comes together. LOL!

      • Patrick Henry de Dios

        Oh god! That’s brilliant!

        I didn’t noticed that!

  • brian

Games like this make me wish I were three handed like Spencer.

  • Crimson_Cloud

I could not get into the High School DxD. Don’t know, the main male pisses me off. I approve of fan-service but this one just overdoes it.

    • Renaldi Saputra

this one seems more explicit than Senran Kagura.. Despite big boobs overload

    • Brimfyre

I came here to say the same thing. I only watched two episodes to be fair. But I’m really tired of the scenario, “Guy wakes up to hot naked girl in his bed” and then over reacts like a spaz. It’s been done so many damn times, it’s just insulting that they think the audience would be like, “OMG What’s going to happen next??? Never seen this set up before!”

      • Crimson_Cloud

Well, this has a pretty big fan base, and I respect anyone’s poison, but I also expect that the fans respect my dissatisfaction with this show as well. But no, on one forum a bunch of horny fans flamed me as they cannot comprehend that someone has different opinion and I kept telling them that images of boobs at main dude’s face doesn’t make a great show. Most of them were all like ” Why don’t you like it!? The main dude is a badass, he isn’t afraid to touch girls! He is super pervert! etc.”. Just wait, you’ll see how many negative votes we get here. Not that I give a damn, mind you.

        • Brimfyre

I hear you. I also respect a good ecchi show. I’m a big fan of Queen’s Blade, and am looking forward to Senran Kagura, and I thought Freezing was pretty good. But there is a fine line between fun fanservice/ecchi and pandering/cliche.

          • Christopher Nunes

Because of the MC’s Dress Break ability? That was… I like High School DxD but sometimes it goes overboard with the fanservice.

I still like it but there needs to be a line somewhere. But you have to commend them for being bold with this series with the ecchiness… I don’t think any other shows will be making something similar to this anytime soon.

          • Crimson_Cloud

Of course, and it would be idiotic of me to say that the show is crap. It is what it is and it aims for certain type of crowd. The show does have some good ideas, gorgeous looking girls and ecchi things are done neatly. It’s just that it goes overboard and it’s not my cup of tea. Everyone has their own taste to satisfy, it would be boring if all of us wanted the same. ^^

And look no Negative notes yet. ^_^

        • ShadowDivz

See my response to Brimfyre. And the only pervert worth respecting(that i know of, as im sure there’s others) is Miroku from inuyasha.

THAT guy, is a respectable perv. Not these haremfags we keep getting.

          Also Brock from pokemon.

      • ShadowDivz

Omg, i thought i was the only one!
Except i dropped it after the 1st episode.

I mean, most of the first episode is spent with that jackass wishing about how he could see some boobs, touch boobs etc. Wakes up to the hottest girl in his bed and flips out? Wtf man?

And my ass he’s not afraid to touch girls, if he wasn’t he would have gotten laid a long time ago.
As much as i hate him, the main character of school days gets laid and it’s not like a special hentai ova or anything. There’s a way to show a character getting laid without going full porn.

        • Renaldi Saputra

some porn fanboys seem don’t agree with you.. lol
          I know that feel

        • PJ

The anime adaptation turns the fan service up to 11, so I’m not surprised it would actually turn some people off the series, if that was their only exposure to it (pun intended, lol).

But partly the reason why the series has the fandom it has, is because it has a far more comprehensive and thought out story (as in actual story, not just an excuse for PLOT!) than pretty much any of its peers. As the original light novel reveals in later volumes, even things like Issei’s apparent ignorance of the girls’ affections and his reluctance to do anything with them actually have a deeper meaning, as well as other seemingly minor events and comments ending up having far more significance later on in the story.

… Of course, there are others who are also only interested in this series because of the PLOT! *shrug* Whatever floats people’s boats.

          • Brimfyre

That’s mostly what I wanted to hear, when I posted my first post. I wasn’t trying to troll. Like I said it SEEMS like the type of show I’m usually into, but the abundant cliche’s turned me off. Basically I wanted to know if it gets better, and the cliches go away a little.

          • ShadowDivz

Im not turned off by the fan service. O contraire

It’s just i didn’t like how most of the first episode is spent with him wishing he could practically rape a chick and then when a girl is actually in his bed he flips out like the rest of the harem guys. THAT is what turned me off.

And out of curiousity, what IS his reason for ignorance of the girls’s feelings?

This outta be good. *pulls up a chair*

        • PJ

In some ways, it’s really quite simple (partly why it’s so refreshing). Beside the usual cliche of the harem protagonist constantly being interrupted…

testing spoiler tags first, before going back to edit in real info…

EDIT: Okay, so much for that.

For a roundabout way to explain it while avoiding spoilers, let’s just say that what happens to Issei on his first date (unlike other series like this) actually has a deep psychological effect on him, that prevents him from even mentally acknowledging the romantic feelings Rias has towards him, for fear that it would turn out the same way when it would hurt him the most.

          • ShadowDivz

Lame. I was expecting something deep and that might possibly garner my interest in the series.
Oh well, i hope you enjoy it. (maybe if you had said the spoilers)

  • XiaomuArisu

You can dressbreak your own allys?
    Way to be an asshole

    • Anesia Hunter

Issei has done that a few times though.

      • XiaomuArisu

Let me guess he is the hero?
        Already dont like him

        • Anesia Hunter

You’ve never seen the show have you? He’s nowhere near as bad as you’re imagining and he hasn’t used dress-break on them simply cause he just wanted to. When he wasn’t order to do so by Rias (other than destroying clothes it can also destroy bindings) it’s been by accident (except the first few times when Asia helped him to perfect it.) But anyways, even though he’s an extreme perv and wanting to become a harem king, he really does care for his friends a lot and would easily put himself in harms way to help them. So, yeah, before you consider him a mega-creep maybe you should try watching the show or reading the manga.

          • XiaomuArisu

The problem is there are so many Harem Animes, which seems to have the same plot.
perv guy with super power gets the attraction of many girl and has many accident which let him see naked chicks.
            Tsundere,Silent girl,Childhood friend etc.have to be there,because its a harem anime.
When you think the story is actually getting good BOOM mindless fanservice!
            Repeat again and again.
So when i hear Harem Anime my mind says No,dont bother you already saw it!

          • Anesia Hunter

If it was like most harem animes, I would somewhat agree and I wouldn’t be hoping all of the novels get animated. I also would have quit watching ages ago. The story does actually have quite a bit to it that makes it entertaining and separates it from other animes.

I will be honest though, I came for the tits (uncensored!!) and stayed for everything else (the storyline, the action packed battles that made me hate cliff-hangers more, the comedy, the wanting to know more about the characters and where things will go for all of them.)

  • Raika Souku

those headphones…… how dare you flaunt buuchous’ breast like that! all jokes aside i find it hard to use some items that they give but hell i buy it anyway

Still think DxD would work better as an action game, especially given the fights being over the top and crazy

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Haha. I will be getting this. I love pervert MCs

    I love me some fanservice.
