It’s been a tough weekend for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and its players, or at least for those of us in the NA / EU regions. The early access launched on Friday, August 24th and was riddled with emergency maintenance and server connection issues (error 90000, error 3102, error 1017 anyone?).
(Note: last chance on pre-order items at 20% off).
Things haven’t gotten much better with one day until the official launch date. Login restrictions are now in place, and the game producer/director Naoki Yoshida is apologizing to NA/EU gamers for the server issues.
Having said that, the game is now officially live in Japan, and it appears that most non-preorder 1.0 players are reporting successful login to their respective region’s servers.
If you’re still on the fence about buying FFXIV: ARR, note that today is the last chance to get exclusive pre-order in-game items from the Standard Edition and Collector’s Edition. The Digital versions of both editions are $24 and $40 respectively after the coupon for FFXIV. Check out screenshots on some of the items below.
In-game items for the Standard Edition include:
– Mog Cap Moogle-themed hat
– Cait Sith Doll minion
– Early access (hmm…)
The Digital Collector’s Edition includes all the above plus:
– Helm of Light in-game helmet
– Baby Behemoth Minion
– Coeurl Mount
– Behemoth Barding armor for your chocobo
While having early access as a benefit to pre-ordering may seem like a moot point right now, you will actually have a grace period (until August 30) to enter the retail code in your account. This means you’ll actually get 3 additional free days of game time before the first 30 days kicks in after entering the retail game code.
Helpful Tip: If you accidentally claimed your pre-order/early access code on the WRONG account, you have a one-time chance to fix the error and transfer your pre-order bonus items into the proper account.
Account management should also be A LOT easier once all access is streamlined through Mog Station, which will be fully functional sometime mid-September. You’ll be able to do things like input pre-order bonus codes, request world transfers, and handle subscription services there.
