Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Early Access Problems, Last Chance On Bonuses

By Viet Do . August 26, 2013 . 5:06pm

It’s been a tough weekend for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and its players, or at least for those of us in the NA / EU regions. The early access launched on Friday, August 24th and was riddled with emergency maintenance and server connection issues (error 90000, error 3102, error 1017 anyone?).

(Note: last chance on pre-order items at 20% off).

Things haven’t gotten much better with one day until the official launch date. Login restrictions are now in place, and the game producer/director Naoki Yoshida is apologizing to NA/EU gamers for the server issues.

Having said that, the game is now officially live in Japan, and it appears that most non-preorder 1.0 players are reporting successful login to their respective region’s servers.

If you’re still on the fence about buying FFXIV: ARR, note that today is the last chance to get exclusive pre-order in-game items from the Standard Edition and Collector’s Edition. The Digital versions of both editions are $24 and $40 respectively after the coupon for  FFXIV. Check out screenshots on some of the items below.

In-game items for the Standard Edition include:

– Mog Cap Moogle-themed hat

– Cait Sith Doll minion

– Early access (hmm…)

The Digital Collector’s Edition includes all the above plus:

– Helm of Light in-game helmet

– Baby Behemoth Minion

– Coeurl Mount

– Behemoth Barding armor for your chocobo

While having early access as a benefit to pre-ordering may seem like a moot point right now, you will actually have a grace period (until August 30) to enter the retail code in your account. This means you’ll actually get 3 additional free days of game time before the first 30 days kicks in after entering the retail game code.

Helpful Tip: If you accidentally claimed your pre-order/early access code on the WRONG account, you have a one-time chance to fix the error and transfer your pre-order bonus items into the proper account.

Account management should also be A LOT easier once all access is streamlined through Mog Station, which will be fully functional sometime mid-September. You’ll be able to do things like input pre-order bonus codes, request world transfers, and handle subscription services there.

  • Wait what

It’s totally possible to get in even with the login restrictions. People need to just keep trying, eventually you’ll get in.

    • I wish the queue works a little bit better though. But yeah, things seem to have been better most of today but perhaps people are at work/school. Heh.

      • (vara/バラ)

they disabled queues after a certain number of people are logged in, is the problem :/ error 1017 literally means they cap on the server has been hit, and queues were disabled (temporarily, until things settle down) as a stop-measure.

    The updater crashes my computer.

It’s like I’m back in 2002 downloading a FFXI patch on my PS2 hoping no one calls the house, but worse.

      Now I get:

      FFXIV Launcher Error

      Unable to complete version check.

Never had these problems during alpha or beta for ARR.

If anyone else gets this, try reinstalling completely. I’m now updating, praying it doesn’t crash my computer again.

        • Corey Owens

          It crashed my computer.

      • Ferrick

i think you still have the beta launcher on, when was the last time you downloaded the launcher ?

        • Corey Owens

I did last night for the reinstall. I’m going to contact their support since this seems to be an issue unique with me.

          • Ferrick

            seems like it

    • Haha.. such terrible memories. I think there was a way to call out via the dial up model (affix * + two numbers to block incoming call). Kind of like *69 to block caller ID. So glad dial-up days are over.

  • Of course they’re having problems.

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

Like any other MMO at launch. Even WoW had issues.

      • I agree, but lately that excuse has been thrown all over the place, it’s making it sound useless now. But still, I’m sure things will pick up after official launch

    Curse you 1017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess its a blessing my PS3 is being held hostage by the air shipping crew. My SO has been complaining about maintenance issues and server capacity since phase 4.

“The World is currently Full” Yea that was annoying >.> other than that everything from beta to release was fine for the most part.

  • supervamp

At least it wasn’t the game quality this time

  • Bang

where can I get my in game items?

    • (vara/バラ)

check the delivery moogle! it might not show up that you have messages, but if you redeemed the codes, he should have them

  • Christopher Nunes

I had a mistake and created a second Service Account and put my CE on it and I deactivated it and went to SE to send them an e-mail to alert them about this so they can put my CE stuff on my RIGHT account.

I pray this doesn’t royally screw me over because of this and lock me out of my own CE stuff. SE just has poor management.

How long do I usually have to wait until they fix this and I get to play the game with my CE stuff?
