Here’s What Kara no Shoujo Sounds Like With Voices

By Ishaan . August 27, 2013 . 10:00am

As reported back in July, MangaGamer will be patching the character voices into their English release of Kara no Shoujo. While the patch is still being prepared for release, MangaGamer have been sharing teaser videos of the voiced game, featuring different characters. Check them out below:

If you already own Kara no Shoujo, you’ll be able to download the patch for $5 when it is made available.

I’m really glad Mangagamer is giving Innocent Grey another chance, I will definitely support the patch and KnS’s physical release. I’m also psyched for Cartagra and Kara no Shoujo 2, they were some of the best localization announcements this year alongside Xillia 2 and Celceta.

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

Just one warning about Cartagra, apparently there is guro so I’d recommend a strong stomach for it.

      • supervamp

There’s guro in kara no shoujo as well

        • Is it stomach turning? Or mild?

          • Michael Connell

From what I’ve played, the characters that get killed have nastier deaths than in KnS.

          • Aah I see. I still want to play I just want to be prepared haha.

          • TiamatNM

I just want to point out that while there is gore and it is pretty graphic it is not presented in a sexual way. I’m sure someone could see it that way but that’s not the way it’s presented imo. I don’t feel it’s trying to cater to a guro fetish or anything like that

            edit: talking about KnS

          • supervamp

Well they aren’t but they do get used that way and well they are kinda like works of art at times

          • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

Yes it is. Not all the time, but occasionally. You see a woman with large breasts and a wet vagina get her head twisted backwards. And that ‘cheesecake’ shot of ______ delivered in the box with no legs, urgh.

          • O__O Oh my, my my…

          • Oh I see. I can take some gore here and there but I am on the side of a scaredy cat haha.

          • supervamp

Hmmm they can be pretty gross.

          • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

Oh man. How about that one bad ending…

…where Reiji gets kidnapped and locked in a room? Slowly starving and going crazy, the song “Paranoia” begins playing, Reiji starts ruminating at the size of the moon and somebody throws a mutilated torso at him. Game over.

There’s no guro, you don’t see anything at all, but that gave me chills.

          • supervamp

Hmm yeah that was pretty eh though they do show mutilated bodies a lot

          • I must try to weather through it (>_< ) I'd really like to play through the story.

          • supervamp

Well it’s a wonderful story full of twist and turns but you should use a walkthrough and there are a lot of sex scenes and a lot of them will be before a bad ending

          • Ok I’ll make sure to do that haha. Thank you!

          • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

KnS can be very stomach churning at times.

          • Mk I must prepare myself then.

Is there any visual novel (except Hirameki’s Phantom of Inferno) where everything is voiced: the characters, the main character and the storyteller?

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

I don’t know that many, but consider this: Lets say a game haves over 25,000 lines of dialogue. In text it’s not the heavy but picture just how much audio would you need to record and consider that many VN developers don’t have huge budgets so releasing a game on a Blu-Ray disc or many, many DVD’s isn’t that simple.

    • Lynx

      Dual Saviour?
Muv Luv has Takeru have a few lines here and there but not completely.

I think Fate Stay Night as well, though I’m not completely sure. Well, Realta Nua anyway.

Also, Kishin Hishou Demonbane and the second game. Albeit not voiced in between when characters are talking.

    • MrTyrant

Dies Irae series and everything from Light I believe.

    • João Madalena

From what I’ve played Fate/Stay Night, Steins;Gate, Chaos;Head, Ever17 and Remember11 but there must be plenty of others.

    • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

I think KnS2 has dialogue for the protagonist. Not sure about narration though.

  • Can’t wait to grab the patch as well as the other IG release coming to MangaGamer! :D

  • Brimfyre

I just downloaded this game yesterday on a whim from MG, having never even heard of it. How strange there is news about it today.

    • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

Last month MG announced that they were translating the sequel and prequel. In the meantime they’re patching the voices into the original game for a $5 fee.

  • Foryth

I will definitely be buying the physical edition once it gets released. I’ve been looking forward to it for a bit actualy.

  • JunHoward

It’s time to cry again and cry even more playing this game with voice acting.

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

Cannot make up my mind about this game. I’ve completed it, and on one hand I think it’s a somewhat compelling homage to authors such as Rampo, Maruo and Shimada. On the other hand, it’s kinda gross. Beautiful soundtrack, though.

I’m interested in Cartagra, though I feel it may be the same. Would be nice to play the PS2 non-H version.
